Great property but its obvious the management of this property is very poor. Lights that did not work, remotes that did not work and some even didn't even have batteries in them. The property urgently needs painting with damaged paint work everywhere in the unit we had. Its location is great but the enjoyment of the stay was let down by a lack of attention to detail and maintenance.
Stayed in unit 13. This room is great for family. However, soft furnishing need to be updated. Curtains are stained and falling off the hook, carpet in one of the room need attention., stained lounge chair, the outdoor furniture.... tried to fixed it by using a masking tape the same goes with the bathroom mirror in the en suite. The air conditioner filters need a desperate cleaning. The kitchen is equip well for longer stay. This is the only accor property that I have stayed without any bathroom amenities (may have just been overlooked). Overall, the friendly staff and stunning view made this property one of the nice accor I have stayed.
Our apartment was the perfect home base for our trip to Airlie. The room was very spacious and comfortable and the view! Wow! The balcony was the perfect spot to lounge around on the deck chairs whilst indulging in the uninterrupted, seemingly endless views! The bathroom has byfolding shutters so that the view can be enjoyed from the bath as well! A definite highlight for us. Really enjoyed our stay at the grand Mercure, we will most definitely be back!
Room was a great size and in a good location. Staff were friendly however I was most disappointed in the cleanliness and maintenance of the room. The bathrooms were terrible and not clean. The walls were dirty and appliances had to be cleaned before we could use them. Towel rails, toilet roll holders and door handles were broken, the kettle even had to be replaced. Not well maintained or cleaned!
Filthy unclean rooms , dated ,no restaurant or room service for a grand mercurye and there is nothing around it to walk to to get something to eat . TV doesn't work. There was damp smell in unit 1. Definitely give this a miss . Spend a little more as u will be using this money on taxis all the time just to get to the action of the high street
We stayed in a 3 bed apartment ( 2 bed plus study) and what a great, spacious and well-planned apartment it was! The beautiful large balcony, the huge kitchen and family area, the generous bedrooms and the fantastically-comfortable beds were a real plus as far as we were concerned. The pools were a hit too, albeit the water was a tad cool and could have done with some solar heating!! Positioned just far enough out of the main street to avoid the noise but close enough to walk to the many shops (including the new Woolworths superarket) and the wonderful town pool/lagoon was another bonus! We loved it so much we are just about to book again for next year!
We travelled to Airlie Beach from Townsville to catch up with friends. As we were travelling with my 21 year old son we decided on staying in an apartment, I am also an Accor member and the Grand Mercure is the only Accor hotel in Airlie Beach. We stayed in unit 29 which was on the top floor, the unit was huge. We had 2 king bedrooms with their own balconies, walk in robes and ensuites. Both ensuites had bath's one was a spa bath. The property was showing signs of age but was clean and well presented. Airlie Beach is a short car trip or a 10 minute walk. I would recommend this property to families or groups.
This resort is self contained apartments. The one bedroom apartment is spacious, well airconditioned with a big balcony and ceiling fans. The view is amazing across to the ocean. The reception counter was not manned when we arrived and 1.30pm so had to go and come back later. The bed was comfortable but the pillows are too hard. The bathroom was a little dated but a separate bath and large shower with a little mould. The towels were well worn and only two were supplied so needed to wash these ourselves each day. We had a room on the second floor and the cigarette smoke from the other rooms & reception area hung in the common area outside the room. The kitchen is well equipped to cook meals if needed. The TV had a small selection of pay TV channels, no free to air channels. The resort is only a short stroll down the hill to the shops and the lagoon.
Set behind Airlie up a steep rise, room size and views are great but its a hike to the beach/coffee/food. Apartments have fully self contained kitchen, crockery, cutlery, decent sized fridge, large lounge and outdoor balcony but no housekeeping service. Has secure under cover parking (if you get in first). Rules List takes a weekend to read, noise restrictions (if enforced) maintain pleasant living surroundings.
