"Good but could be improved"
17th September 2013, Sky D
Hi,My friend and I recently stayed at your hotel. I wanted to share some comments from a customer point of view with you.Firstly the hotel is in a great location, and I think it makes good use of this. The showers are great, lovely hot water. We had a room with a bunk bed. I had the big bed which was comfortable. My friend slept on the top bunk which was a bit sunken.I was very disappointed to discover the top bunk bed was not made up, we had to do this ourselves, and were not able to do it well because of the location.I was also very disappointed that we had to pay for a locker to store our bags for the day after check out. I am aware that we chose a 'budget' hotel but I have to say I was surprised that you don't store luggage for free on checkout. I have traveled extensively in Australia and internationally, budget and not and this is the first time I have had to pay for storage when picking up bags within the day. It is a small amount of money but it is/was annoying. The reception service was good, the clerk let us check in early and dealt well with my comments on these luggage issues at the time.Thank you,Sky

the bunk bed cause too much squeaky sound and causes sleepless nites. Hopefully the hotel management will start look into this problem so that the hotel guests are able to enjoy a pleasant stay at the hotel. Not very satisfied with the housekeeping services because when they make up the bed they did not change a clean bed sheet and pillow cases. We really hope that the hotel management will seriously look into these few matters.
"Great location, budget hotel"

Great value for money. Hotel is in a great central location and is really handy for shopping, restaurants ant transport. Rooms are basic, but clean & bed was comfortable. Have to go to dining area for tea/coffee as no kettle or fridge in room. Shower is the room & not in a separate bathroom, so there is no private dressing area apart from the small toilet. I'd stay again if I was looking for a budget hotel in the centre of Melbourne

Great location and, for the price, a good quality hotel. There is no ground level lobby and the ambience is impersonal but the rooms are functional and I'd recommend it for the traveller on a budget. My room was clean but not fresh. There was a shower cubicle and a separate toilet which were all ok. it's by no means luxury but it was a great place for what i wanted.

Don't pay for the breakfast it isn't worth $9 and there are plenty of cafes nearby. No tea and coffee making facillities in the room and no hair dryer . Comfortable bed. Room like a shoebox. Small frosted window. Staff quite nice.

love this hotel:good:- location, clean, friendly service, value for money, communal kitchen is so useful, allow me to check in earlyneed improvement:- receptionist always busy so need to wait if we want something, the sink is clogged, the bed is only made up 3 days once.other than that, we were happy. no fuss.
"Reasonable value for money"

Basic accommodation at not so budget prices, but room size and essential facilities are OK.The rooms are clean, however they are past their use by date and deserve a renovation.Friendly staff at reception and elsewhere.Overall recommended for family holidaying stays.
"Good value for money, great location"

Location is great, with Flinders Station about 5 minute walk away and Southern Cross Station 15 minutes away. You can also get the Skybus from the airport and they will even provide a hotel drop off/pick up if booked.Bedding and toilet clean, heater worked; what more do you need for the price?I didn't have the breakfast so can't comment on that. Communal kitchen was kept clean and tidy. Staff were very friendly and extremely helpful, particularly when explaining how to operate the lockers to my technology-challenged parents!
"Good price and excellent location - basic budget accommodation"

In a room with a bunk and bed (2 adults - 2 teens) - very small bathroom - but we have stayed here before so we knew what to expect roughly - tv in room plug sockets for charging. Lucky to get a room with a view of Elizabeth Street - Staff were very friendly and helpful. Very basic accommodation but as its only used for sleeping excellent value and good location for everything.Pre-Paid $9 for breakfast but when got there it wasn't brilliant - bit of toast - juice, coffee i think they could add some croissants or pancakes or some bread rolls to make it a bit better - it also shut early so we missed it! we ate breakfast out in Melbourne instead - loads of options - Would use this hotel again but won't purchase breakfast unless they change it up a bit! not worth it.

Cannot complain about the room at all it was perfect for just a night in town my friend from Sydney had stayed there before and his recommendation was spot on. We were going to a concert at Rod Laver and it was a short walk to the tram stop that took us straight there! Also breakfast over at Olio in the block arcade was a great way to end off the stay.
"Budget Hotel with Non Budget price"

Not such a cheap hotel considering the quality of the hotel. Found a similar price with much more decent place to stay. Though I have to admit that the location is very prime.Other than that, not much to say about this hotel.
"Formule 1 to IBIS"
2nd July 2013, tierneyjohn, Sydney, Australia
We have stayed a number of times at the Elizabeth Street Formule 1. We thought it offered an acceptable level of comfort at a reasonable price in a convenient location. We were very surprised/dismayed that:1. the price should increase, since there had been no ostensible change whatsoever to the beds, bathroom or other hotel amenities, and2. that, though we pre-booked this stay a considerable time beforehand, the management considered billing us for the difference.I should mention that the manager was very helpful. The door closer was damaged and there was a lot of noise from upstairs. It sounded like children continually jumping off the beds onto the floor. This kept us awake each night.Unfortunately, the price increase will make us re-think staying at Formule1/IBIS Budget on our next visit to Melbourne. Thanks John & Cynthia Tierney(email@example.com)

Can't complain for the price and the location, stayed in a 4 bed bunk room which is basically a hostel room. However the beds make a lot of creaking noise even at the slightest movement so didn't make for a good night's sleep. Suitable for young people and budget travellers.
"Quick, easy accomodation"

The rooms are provided with the simplest of requirements (bed and shower). Basically, this is all you need for such a short stay. Both nights were very good, I slept comfortably and no problems with checking in or out. Very relaxed and easy stay.
