We stayed here for four nights and loved the hotel and the setting on the beach but the bed was so uncomfortable, far too soft with a dip in the middle of each single bed. They are two single beds zipped together, so you also have a ridge down the middle. In a five week trip to Australia this was the most expensive hotel we stayed in but the only one to charge for wifi, come on guys this is 2016 and everyone expects free wifi. To be fair we were given 30 minutes every 24 hours in the reception area only but we found once you logged on, even if you only used five minutes you couldn't log on again that day. They made great iced coffee's but we only had breakfast in the restaurant.
Lovely hotel room, spacious and well laid out - very, very comfortable and spacious. Heaps of glasses, lots of kitchen utensils (enough without being too much!) great size fridge. Bathroom area very spacious and luxurious. A few little issues such as no powerpoint upstairs, but overall its a very well appointed, well planned out room. Excellent customer service by all staff. Excellent.
Overall the Exmouth Resort experience was very enjoyable. The 2brm Apartment was beautiful. The room service meals were excellent and quite reasonably priced considering where we were. The restaurant menu did not inspire so we did not go there. The breakfast selection was not great but this was offset by having an omelette and egg station. The pastries on offer were very dry and the croissants chef really needs to keep practising. Special mention for staff member Elly at the front desk who went out of her way to make sure we had a nice apartment with a lovely view, so THANK YOU. We had two incidents that spoilt the whole experience a little. One was finding a dead mouse in the walk in robe and the other was coming home after a full day out to find our Apartment Door has been left open wide by the service staff. These only resulted in and apology and we felt some further compensation should have been arranged. But other than that we would have no hesitation in staying here again.
This is the second time we have stayed at this resort in as many years. The resort is looking a bit run down and in serious need of some maintenance. We moved rooms during our stay due to noises in the room. Neither of the rooms were of a standard of cleanliness that I would think appropriate for well paying guests. Shame as it is a beautiful location.
My husband and I stayed for 5 nights in early July at this resort- the weather as warm and balmy and a nice respite from the Australian winter. We stayed in a one-bedroom apartment- it was very large and well-appointed. The bed was especially soft, perhaps being one of those 'pillow-top' mattresses. The only negative aspect was the flat screen TV was very small and out of proportion to the large living room. The TV was also placed very far away from the sofa, making it difficult to see the screen. Therefore, we had to move some chairs closer to the TV. The swimming pool was great and the surrounding gardens very nice. I would definitely like to return to this hotel but would probably book one of the 'pre-booked specials' (with no cancellations allowed) in order to get the reduced rate- we paid $400 per night for our apartment.
We originally booked for 6 nights but only stayed 5. I booked the 1 king bed apartment on the Novatel website and at $438 per night it wasn't cheap. It was supposed to have a marina view which sounded nice but basically it had a view of a car park and building site with the marina visible over to the left of the veranda. The other point of contention was that Wi Fi was not included and cost an extra $12.50 for 2 hours in the room or $24.50 for 24 hours which given the price of the room we thought was exorbitant. Even in the lobby it was only free for half an hour per 24 hour period but this was not really a true 24 hour period because if you started at say 3 pm on the first day and say 7 pm on the second day the 24 hour period started again from 7 pm and not 3pm which made it half and hour free in 28 hours instead of 24. We felt this was all designed by Accor to force us to pay for the Wi Fi which we refused to do in principle. We also decided we would give the resort as little extra of our business as possible so apart from the first night we ate out in the town. We had an excellent meal in the Whalers Restaurant in the resort just across the road from the Novatel and other excellent meals in Graces Tavern and 5 Kennedy Street. So as far as we are concerned this penny pinching policy of Accor regarding the Wi Fi meant they lost much or our other business. We have travelled extensively both in Australia and overseas and nearly every other establishment that we have stayed in has at least provided 24 hour free Wi Fi in the hotel lobby. In fairness to the resort the room amenities were very good and the staff were very pleasant and helpful. Had the "marina view" room actually had a view of the marina other that from one end of the balcony and Wi Fi had been included in the cost of the room our opinion about the resort would probably have been quite different. At present the resort has the advantage that there is not much competition regarding a choice of other comparable resorts in Exmouth but if that should change we would definitely stay there instead.
We went for the main purpose of swimming with whale sharks and snorkelling. Well worth it. Unfortunately a cyclone hit on Friday 1 May 2015. Novotel management were not very equipped and there was not one backup generator to even keep reception, telephone lines or their own fridges operating. Disappointing. There was no communication, no power until Saturday afternoon. Reception staff said I would need to rely on travel insurance and that the hotel would not discount that one night. The rooms are beautiful, staff friendly and the surrounds with the pool and beach front very nice. Restaurant quite nice but expensive. Good idea to be an Accor member to get the food discount on lunch and dinner.
We recently stayed at Novotel on our trip to Ningaloo Reef for whale shark diving and snorkeling at Turquoise Bay. The resort is very clean and comfortable and the staff are very friendly and helpful. The rooms are relatively expensive but when you realize how remote the location is, you can appreciate the overheads in maintaining the quality standards. The food was average quality, but again a little overpriced. The pool is actually a really nice option when the beach gets too hot and there is full poolside wait service. The pool itself is very clean and a good size. We were a bit disappointed that we couldn't get a late checkout (after 10am) since the flights out of Exmouth leave at 3.50pm so it's a bit of a wasted day. But all things considered, it was a really comfortable base for visiting the Cape Range National Park and doing what we came to do - see the Whale Sharks!
