This was our second stay in a Junior Suite at the Ibis Myeong-dong and we have nothing but praise for this hotel. The hotel location is superb, being within walking distance or close to some Seoul's best shopping areas, street markets and tourist attractions; and the hotel staff are always polite, friendly and helpful. On our two visits we have opted for the larger Junior Suite, although our travelling companions for our recent four-day stopover after a European holiday were more than happy with their smaller double room. Airport shuttle bus 6015 stops right outside the hotel and tickets for the return journey can be bought at the check-in desk which, unusually, is on the top floor. A subway station for the superb Seoul underground is also a short walk away. Single journey or reuseable/reloadable tickets are available at subway stations from ticket vending machines which have an English button. The hotel has Seoul city maps which include a subway map. If you buy the reuseable TMoney pass (3000 won non-refundable deposit) you will need to load it with travel money before using it.

Pros: 1) Airport bus 6015 stops right in front of the hotel;2) Myeong-Dong is an amazing place for shopping and dining;3) The bed is comfy and we slept well;4) Hotel offers free shuttle 3 times a day for the nearby places of interest although we missed our bus, so make sure you make it to the lobby earlier;5) Staffs are nice and polite;6) You can find the best coffee in Seoul at the cafe (Dream Coffee) connecting to the lobby; otherwise coffee in Seoul tastes like water or milk.7) Free wi-fi.Cons: 1) The carpet is really dirty, some renovation needs to be done;2) Strange BBQ or smoky smell at the asile; Overall, a great hotel, I will stay again if I return to Seoul. Well done guys, we were so impressed with the quality, especially after comparing the poor experience we have had with Ibis Hong Kong.

This is my 2nd time at ibis myeong dong. Room rates had almost doubled since 2 years ago but that had not deterred me from choosing Ibis for its prime location. Airport limousine bus 6015 and 6001 stops right in front of hotel. Extremely convenient. Lots of food and shopping options around the area. Room size is reasonably big for a no frills 3 star hotel. If room prices do not jump in future, I will definitely choose Ibis myeongdong again.

Hotel was perfectely located in town and it was very convenient as all shopping and foods was within walking distance. Transportation was efficient and timely. Hotel service and cleanliness was very good and rooms were spacious and well provided. The staff was very helpful and cheerful.

We stayed in Ibis Seoul Myeongdong on 15 April 2012 and we loved our stay!The hotel is conveniently located right in front of airport limousine bus stop, across Lotte Dept store, within walking distance from Euljiro ga subway station, very near Nanta Theater and shopping districts, 15-20min walking distance from funicular to N Seoul Tpwer, and much more!Buffet breakfast was worth the money we paid. Variety was not too much but it was enough to satiate and satisfy you. They tasted good too!The staff were very polite. Always smiling. The information desk clerk at the 1st floor was very helpful in giving tips and directions to tourist attractions. Spoke good Engliah too.The reason why I didnt give perfect score to room and sleep quality was because the centralized zircon during our stay wasn't working well. It was warm in our room. But other than this, it was great. My husband loved the water closet! The standard room we got was just the right size and had enough amenities. Wifi connection was pretty fast too!Hope to stay here again. Thanks Ibis!

"Excellent location"

Ibis Myeong-dong is located in an excellent location. It is right next to the subway. The exciting shopping and dinning area Myeong-dong is just steps away. Only 3 subway stops to the famous Dongdaemun. Airport bus stops right in front of the hotel.We were there from 6 to 10 April and during this season they only have the heater on at 27 degress celcius which made the room very stuffy. We were advised to open the windows but doing so allows noise from the traffic below to come in which is a bit of a nuisance. The carpet is also a bit dirty with stains.Although not prefect but I would stay at the Ibis Myeong-dong again for the excellent location.

"Ibis Myeong Dong"

The location is very good. Near to Myeong Dong, one of the biggest shoppping area in Seoul. Subway stations are about 10 minutes walk away and you can get a bus from the airport directly to the hotel. The hotel rooms are a bit small but it is clean. As for the price, it's a bit expensive comparing the size of the rooms.

"friendly and English-speaking staff"

The staff is friendly and most can speak fluent English. Room is clean and room service is excellent. The only con is that it is not spacious and there is no bathtub. However, the location is great, easy access to the train station, restaurant and shopping area. Lastly, weighing machine is also available at the lobby if you do want to check your luggage weight.

Right in the heart of Myeongdong. Very near the subway station, and its very close to most tourist attractions like the palaces and Insadong. The location is worth its price. Easy access to airport limousine service. Free Hot Bath and Gym (Gym cloths and shoes are available for free rental).

location of this hotel is fine (near to Numendum market and subway ) . the breakfest buffet is quite impresive . the stuff was friendly and helpful although the price/night was a bit high,the overall value for money is good.

It's very small size room.. but very clean.Nice Sauna, wonderful location..so.. expensive.There are no bathtub, no amenity, (vending machine at each floor)no complimentary bottle water(water purifier at each floor)This hotel is located at Myungdong, SeoulMyungdond is popular site for shopping, sightseeing, eating....

"Great choice with lots of food and shopping"

You can't go wrong with Ibis Myeong Dong especially with 1st time visitors to Korea. Lots of choices of food and shopping is just right at the door step. Have many choices of transportation of bus, subway.

"Improves all the time"

Staying here for over 5 years and keeps getting better , wifi throughout the hotel and airport bus at the front door , friendly staff , and good value ! They seem to have lost one section of lifts which makes waiting longer and lifts more full of people - not sure what going on there.

Pros: Location, airport bus drop off / pick up in front of hotel, subway station one block away.Cons: Rooms are small, room temperature issues (A/C was shut off in the entire building, when I called the front desk about this problem I was told to open the window in the room!), lobby in the 19th floor is very inconvenient, price a little steep for the accommodations offered.

The location is fantastic. The nearby shopping and eating areas are plenty,. I think there were only 2 working elevators during my stay was cumbersome espacially with the lobby on the 19th floor, The rooms are clean. Room temperature could not be regulated though. seems like they have it fixed at a certain level.Pillow wasn't high enough. Staff were fok.

"2011 Year End Trip"

I intentionally stayed at this hotel due to its proximity to downtown Seoul to celebrate the arrival of 2012. This hotel met my expectations (as usual). The hotel was rather busy during this period - lots of guest and slightly noisy. (Which I attribute the problem to the guest rather than the hotel itself)A heater in my room was functioning very oddly which it didn't kept the room warm as I wanted it to (It was winter) or perhaps I didn't knew how to work the controls. Not a problem, coz the comforter kept me warm till morning.The CS at the desk was exceptional warm during check in and check out. Which was helpful as during checkout I needed to rush to the airport and the girl informed me (offered me the information) that the airport is not going to cut it for me if I wanted to make it on time to the airport. From the info, I knew I needed to run off to Seoul Station to catch the KTX if I wanted to be on time for departure. I made it on time - A big thanks!

"Good location, but low standard rooms and service"

Checkin is standard mass service. Rooms are very small and business like. No real comfort.The hotel had a problem with the room heating so our room did not warm up even after adjusting the room temp to even 36C and waiting for 1 h (in Seoul winter). The duty manager handled the issue so poorly and arrogantly and even tried to cover up the further mistakes. He got outright rude, blaming us to have set the temp too low. We decided to cancel and checkout on the spot. The manager first refused to accept the cancellation and only reminding him of hotel policies he finally agreed.It is unfortunate, as an only average handling of this issue would have saved our stay in Seoul and the hotel its reputation. We hoped for better as the reservation staff were originally very friendly and the location is good. But it proved to be our worst hotel stay for quite some time.
