Sofitel Zhongshan Golf Resort Nanjing - hotel reviews in Nanjing

Only stayed one night and not for golf but for business, but the room was unbelievably big and the staff were all kind and professional. Tried Driving Range and the huge facility was well maintained and very easy to access (you can ask for a ride on a buggy from hotel lobby to the driving range) and reasonably priced (or some say unreasonably cheap) I will definitely visit again for any purpose but willing to have a 18-hole golf round when weather is warmer. The only minus was the location as it is not located in the downtown, so not convenient for business travellers who should visit CBD offices.View management response »

"Nice hotel with poor services"
15th May 2012, Isolatedummy, Shanghai, China
The hotel looks very new and European style, and convenient access via National Highway for driving. However, the service is very poor. The lady at check-in counter didn't say 'Hello' when I arrived. Moreover she didn't realize that I had booked 2 rooms and only assign 1 room to me. I asked for another room, she recheck the computer and assigned the second room to far other end of the floor (1 in east end while another one in west). For the room, I have no idea why there's heavy kitchen gas smell in the room during dinner time. During the night, a lot of noise... In a word, really a nightmare for my Labor Day Holiday.
"A holiday away from Nanjing, in Nanjing"
9th April 2012, Nanjing, China
The hotel is set in lovely grounds on the side of Purple Mountain. I decided I wanted a break away from the hustle and bustle of Nanjing but didn't want to go to the effort of flying somewhere else and all that entailed for a 3 day holiday. The entrance of the hotel is plush, it would have been good to have been met by the bell boy to carry luggage, however, we made it to Reception and were met by pleasant young ladies. The 3000 rmb deposit needs to be explained by a written information sheet- I am still not sure whether I am going to receive two bills on my credit card- one for the deposit(later to be creditied) and one for the accomodation etc- the receptionists were not able to explain in a way that I could understand, and now I am just hoping that the deposit was not charged and that there will only be one bill. This is something that we are not used to in other countries- where the hotel just hold the credit card number and charge if it a person absconds without paying the billThe rooms are lovely and mine overlooked the golf course and I could see the start of Purple Mountain to the left. A lovely outlook. I had emailed about the bed to see if it was soft and recceived an email back to say that it was a 'my bed' - i think. It did have a feather overlay over a hard mattress, and as I am a bit like the princess and the pea, I did not sleep as well as I had hoped to. That being said, the bedding was luxurious, and room very comfortable, the light above the bed was suitable for reading with, but not the desk light. The bathroom was very modern, but the shower stall could have used a good clean with bleach to get rid of mould in between the tiles.I ate all of my meals in the main western restaurant, the breakfast buffet was very good and once I had sorted out with the waitress that I would like my own tea pot, with milk, then I was sorted. My friend who stayed at the hotel had fresh plunger coffee, and really enjoyed that. The evening meals were delicious- I had salmon and vegetables one night, succulent salmon- very good. Lunch, as I didn't need much, was a good bowl of chowder and the waitress brought the bread basket, full of the best bread I have had in many years!!We also had spa treatment in the brand new spa facilities that had just opened that week. Beautiful, and a lovely receptionist, whose English was probably the best of any staff member that we met. The massage treatment was magic and the masseuse found all of the spots.
