"6 nights at the Mercure Hobart"
29th April 2012, gm256, Waggaman, Louisiana, USA
Relatively good location, easy cheap parking, room a bit noisy due to tenants thumping around like a herd of elephants in the floor above - probably due to poor noise dampening between floors rather more than usual noise being created by the people above

"Audette Groenewold"
25th April 2012, audette727, Launceston, Australia
The noise of the night club was a bit loud early hours of the morning. Not too good when you are looking for a night out from daily life. However the service from the hotel and restaurant/bar was excellent. The staff are highly trained, respectfull and the live music band was excellent. The main singer took time to speak to the clients in the room which made it very personal. Congradulations

"A tired look"
19th April 2012, Tassietrip, Brisbane, Australia
The cleanliness of the room was ok however the paintwork required attention, the fittings appeared somewhat outdated. In general the impression was a fatigued look requiring upgrading. The bed was great! The cost ($143) per night was not warranted. The buffet breakfast bar was average: we were told that they had run out of certain products (the Danish -es), which we happen to love and that it was too late to add new products (because it was close to the closure of the buffet breakfast time - 10am) Not really that impressed :-(

Management responseDear Tassietrip,Thank you for taking the time to share your experience at Mercure Hobart. Please be assured that the level of service you received during your stay and within our restaurant facility is not acceptable and certainly not the norm. Please can I kindly request that you contact me directly at the hotel as I would welcome the opportunity to discuss your experience further.Thank you again for your valuable feedback and kindest regardsAdrian Sampson

"Hobart trip for Footy"
13th April 2012, paulaccor, Melbourne, Australia
Hotel great, food, service, rooms, etc. Only issue we had was our door would notunlock with cards and had to have a staff member let us in each time we left the room.Apparently the card reader had "died".

"Hobart for the weekend"
30th March 2012, Sydney
The hotel is average. Breakfast on Sunday morning was very poor. The staff just couldn't keep up with demand. First they run out of clean plates, then coffee cups. While we were there for about 40 minutes at no stage was there a full selection of the hot food, at one time the only item available was bacon (no eggs, baked beans, hash browns, mushrooms, tomatos, sausages). The hotel needs to review their smoking policy. There was a wedding on Saturday evening and most of the guests spent their time standing just outside the front doors smoking, groups of up to 20 people 1 - 2 metres outside the doors. Other hotel guests had to run the gauntlet through them just to get in or out of the hotel premises. The only good thing was the happy hour each evening.

"Mercure a pleasant surprise"
27th March 2012, rick055, Somers, Victoria,AUS
Mercure punches above it's weight. Sure it is dated and a bit weary but the staff do their level best to work around its deficencies.Stayed in a king room with lounge and it was more than adequate. As a business traveller ticked all the boxes.Comfy bed, hot shower and good food ...DO try the steak...!!! Staff make the place however and obviously reflects a customer focus by management..No aircon but doors that open and let in fresh Air !!Have stayed here and at Hadleys and while Hadley's has the "olde worlde" feel to it..staff here definitely make up for the lack of "ambience" Stay here again ? Definitely !

"Mercure Hobart"
13th March 2012, Seminyak
Fabulous people, great room, cow of a car-park and questionable food. Oysters brought through Muires and were obviously the smaller, drier ones not appropriate to export from Tasmania - very disappointing. Great wood-fired flavour to the steak. Wine list reasonable and prices quite acceptable. Staff so lovely and could not do enough - they are the property's greatest asset.

Management responseDear Seminyak,Thank you for taking the time to share your experience at Mercure Hobart and also for your kind comments with regards to the hotel team. "A Great Stay"

"a rather tired hotel, food poor, service wanting!"
10th March 2012, Melbourne, Australia
The hotel needs a good "scrub-up", No Airconditioning in the rooms, food (Friday Night) dinner (Fish & Chips) was so greasy that my wife couldn't eat it! Total misrepresentation of the WiFi service available by the Manager, who didn't know what she was talking about. She sold me access to Wi Fi, saying that it was available for 12 hours when I connected, I was locked out after 15 minutes. All of these Factors made for a most disappointing stay in your Hotel. NO RECOMMENDATIONS from us.

"Good but .."
8th March 2012, ashryn, Australia
We stayed overnight at the Mecure Hobart. There was a wedding on the same night which we really didn't notice which was great. The rooms were clean, bathrooms with shower over bath were a bit dated but nothing to complain amount. Beds were comfortable. We didn't eat at the hotel although they did have a happy hour but be warned although they say $3.50 for a pot of beer it is only a specific beer which we were not told until we queried the price of our order. A more informative sign would be appropriate. Also they charge $10 a night parking which should have been included in the room cost really. We parked our car under the hotel and the boom gates were up and still up the following day when we left, we could have, like probably everyone else, just driven down and parked. It is little things that make a difference.

Management responseDear Ashryn,Thank you for taking the time to share your experience at Mercure Hobart and furthermore for the valuable feedback, suggestions that you have provided. As a result, we will review our 'happy hour' offer during the early evening and actively look to re develop this service. With regards to car parking at the hotel we do in fact charge a daily rate of $10 per 24 hours. Whilst this is still 33% cheaper than a number of other hotels within the city we do have a number of free street parking options surrounding the hotel.Once again thank you for sharing your comments and we look forward to the opportunity of welcoming you back to Tasmania in the near future.Kindest RegardsAdrian Sampson

"Central city location"
20th February 2012, stillbreathin, Australia
The only downside of our stay was the queen bed mattress! Way too soft and I felt almost trapped in the impression my body weight made on it...probably time to renew it I'd reckon! Also car parking $10 per night...only $6 in Launceston!

Management responseDear Stillbreathin,Thank you for taking the time to share your experience at Mercure Hobart and we are certainly pleased that you enjoyed your stay at the hotel, with the exception of the bed mattress. "Mercure Hobart"
13th February 2012, Paxton NSW
We stayed at the Mercure Hobart in February, great month to visit. We found the hotel to be in a great location, walking distance to the waterfront and shopping areas. The meals, both breakfast and dinner in the restaurant was value for money and the meals were of excellent quality and size. The staff were very helpful with directions and suggestions for day trips. The only downside to the hotel, there is no airconditioning in the rooms and that meant having to leave the balcony door open for air, which in turn led to traffic noise in the early mornings (5am).

"Comfortable stay in Hobart"
13th February 2012, Melbourne, Australia
We found this hotel to be pleasant and good value for money. The restaurant staff were the only let down, with numerous inexperienced waiters working when we had our only meal there. The bar area is lovely with comfortable couches to relax on; and the reception staff were always friendly and helpful. We did find our floor noisy for 2 of our 4 nights, with international travellers, who all knew each other, taking up numerous rooms around us, leaving their doors open so they could talk to one another. We were on the verge of requesting a floor change when we saw they were checking out! Request a quiet part of the hotel if that's a concern to you.

"A Definite Must"
10th February 2012, Sydney, Australia
The friendliness and service I could not fault. The room was clean, light, roomy and well equipped with everything I needed. Loved the coffee machine! The bed was so comfortable which was a bonus as I had some painful problems with neck and shoulders. A quick and easy walk to the city was a plus as was the parking. I was very impressed and would recommend this Hotel to tourists especially.
