We were 13 adults and children and had 5 rooms. Upon arrival we had problems getting non smoking rooms!! The location of the hotel is fine with good public transportation around the corner. The breakfast is very good and a nice start on the day.Very service minded staff at the reception. Thanks!

Novotel Budapest Danube: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Location is good"

8th October 2011, Kirkkonummi, Finland

Best with this hotel is when you are walking back in the evening by the river. You will see Parliament House. Nice view. Room was fine and everything was what I expect by Novotel. Clean. Good bed. You can walk to Mammuth and do some shopping there.

Novotel Budapest Danube: 4.0 out of 5 stars "The benefit is a stay at a ACCOR property you know what is expected world wide, Novotel Budapest Danube delivered this"

17th September 2011, vallju, Perth, Australia

We found this to be a very comfortable place to base our stay in Budapest from, the room was spacious, free wifi and the reception staff are to be commended for their knowledge and for the help and assistance they provided us in booking tours, thermal spas as well as very knowledgable on excellent places to visit for day trips as well as the best public trasnport to use based on where we intended to go, the very old but very reliable underground trains as well as the trams made geting around Budapest a breeze. We even used the train to travel to airport on our departure however I wouldn't recommend this as although only a few $$ the train ride is about 30-40 mins with a change required to a public bus ron the side of the highway based on which terminal you are flying from... we had a rail pass remaining so opted for train for that reason, next time I think would have hotel arrange a taxi. The taxi's on the street are likely to be much more than having the hotel arrange a driver at a set rate which is what we did on our late arrival from Viena by train, would have been very easy to have got the iunderground we can see now but late at night we decided to have the hotel arrange this in advance for us which cost HFT 4300 more than 10 times public transport but we were very promptly delivered to the hotel recption after being met at the station with a sign with our names, we felt confident we would arrive in the shortest time at our hotel as to have tried to arrange a taxi on the street at the station. We had been told that are some rogue drivers that try to target the tourists. If you enjoy a good coffee can I suggest you upgrade to a room package that includes the Nespresso machine as I did.. we worth it as the coffee in the resturant at breakfast was... well you can imagine.. The pods are replaced everyday as the room is serviced.

Novotel Budapest Danube: 5.0 out of 5 stars "Holiday stay"

15th August 2011, cardiff

Arriving by car the hotel was easy to find. Parking was easy and location of the hotel on the Danube was excellent. Metro station was close by providing fast and cheap access to the city. Castle district within walking distance. Children loved the hotel Staff were very friendly and helpful. Rooms and breakfast were also excellent. Would definately recommend a stay here.

Novotel Budapest Danube: 4.0 out of 5 stars "4 relaxing days in Budapest"

8th July 2011, Milan

The property has a great location, less than 5 minutes from the underground station on M2 line. Cross the road which runs beside the hotel and you have the majestic Danube !Hotel staff was very courteous and well informed and were able to very easily and quickly point out the local points of interest as well as the best connections by public transport. Size wise, the room was slightly tight (maybe because we were a family of 4!). The lobby is quite compact with an X-BOX which kept our son quite busy while he was in the hotel. Breakfast was great with an excellent spread of fruits, meats, breads, freshly prepared dishes etc.

Management responseDear Guest, thank you for your review. I am glad you were satisfied with the services and our location. Size wise the rooms are standard Novotel size but at your next stay please ask for a suite and you will be amazed!. See you soon, Gergely Kollin

Novotel Budapest Danube: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Novotel Danube"

25th May 2011, Houston

I went for a 4 day vacation with my family in Budapest. We reserved the rooms online, we had 2 rooms with river view (the view is as described, the rooms face the Parliament building). The hotel has a good location between Lanchid Bridge and Margit Bridge. The rooms are small according to the U.S. standards, very modern furniture and bathroom. If you are looking for a historic building and old architecture this is not the right place to stay. The front desk was very friendly and helpful. The check in and check out process was easy. The housekeeping service was good. The hotel bar is a little bit overpriced, but the breakfast was good. The area where the hotel is located is safe.I did not use the parking so I can not say anything about it.Overall is a nice hotel, I think the hotel is catering more for bussiness than for leisure. Can be a good choice for a young family without children.

Novotel Budapest Danube: 4.0 out of 5 stars "great hotel"

9th May 2011, Resita, Romania

Loved this hotel. Staff was very helpful and nice. Food was excellent and location is fantastic! The only thing was that the pillowcase was dirty, looked as though it had not been changed after someone slept on it (cosmetic residue present.)

Novotel Budapest Danube: 5.0 out of 5 stars "Good Experience!"

23rd December 2010, Manchester UK

Good middle of the road hotel. Being a relatively new building, the facilities are modern and well kept. The bar and restaurant are of a sufficient capacity for the size of the hotel, but the prices are not cheap - particularly breakfast. For business guests, the hotel is probably more convenient, because travel to and from business meetings is likely to be by taxi. There is ample parking, if travelling by car. The walk to the centre of the city is more than half an hour, unless one takes the metro system. There is a station nearby. The staff are friendly and helpful. During a recent stay I had an up-grade to a junior suite. These suites overlook the Danube and the Houses of Parliament on the opposite bank of the river. Worth the extra €25 for the enhanced room and view. Would have no hesitation in recommending the Novotel Danube Budapest.

Novotel Budapest Danube: 3.0 out of 5 stars "Hotel parking and room view"

15th November 2010, flamborough

My colleague and I stayed at this hotel for three nights from October 21 to 23, 2010. When we arrived I parked our car to one of the signalled parking lots of the hotel. The reception staff told us that the parking is not free and 4000 Ft per day will be applied. I considered parking the car at a free parking lot just in front of the hotel on the main street Bem Rakpart but the hotel staff told me that those places are not guarded/ protected so no one takes responsibility of the damaged/ lost car. This ment for me that the hotel's parking where I parked our car vas a secure place to leave the car therefore I decided to leave the car at the hotel's parking lot.The following morning as we were walking out from the hotel, I noticed a sign from the hotel that said that the parking was not free and it showed the parices for the parking. Beside the fees, the signe said that the Hotel assumes no Responsibility for any damage or loss of the car! It was not what the reception suggested. On that afternoon I went back to the reception and asked them about it and to my surprise they admitted that the parking is not secured BUT if I wanted I could have parked my car in an internal garage /place belonging to the hotel that was really under survaillance. The conclusion, I was misinformed about the parking, I was told that the parking in front of the hotel was secured and later the satff admitted that was not the case. Consequantly, I requested to have the parking fee recredited and don't mislead other guests, I remved our car from the hotel's parking lot and parked it on the street, place that was as safe as the hotel's lot but it was FREE.What happened with the parking was totally unfair, missleading and money making oriented action without providing any service for it. This should not be part of the hotel's policy of making profit since there was nothing provided for it. Why shoul I pay for nothing? The reception staff should be instructed not tell the truth and not misslead the customer.Another thing I would like to mention is the room: there was no outside view from my room, all what I could see was the walls of the surrounding building next to the hotel, not even the sky could be seen entirely. From the number of people I saw during our stay there I assume that the hotel was not fully booked and there were many other available rooms. Also, since my name is hungarian, the hotel staff thought that any room would be good for a domestic customer.

Management responseDear Sir, First of all, I would like to thank you for your comment, I am grateful for every remark or suggestion as your feedback is very important to us.At Novotel, we strive to provide a superior service experience for every customer.I am really sorry for the inconveniences you experienced during your stay, please let me explain you this unfortunate situation concerning the parking. As you mentioned in your letter there is a sign in front of the hotel parking which includes the information that the hotel assumes no responsibility for any damages or loss of the car, this sentence can be found in front of evry public parking area which is not fully protected or closed by any fence. For this reason we can not assume the responsibilities for the damages, but I can ensure you that the hotel parking is controlled all day long. The security guard of the hotel is checking the parking continually from the lobby of the hotel, and the area is recorded by the security camera. All above this it is lighted during all the night. Regarding your remark in connection with your room, I would like to tell you that we have more kinds of rooms, some of them are facing the river danube, or the opposite side of the building by the street, others facing the parking area in front of the hotel, and there are rooms looking at the courtyard, but any of the rooms are suiting to the same novotel standards. The hotel staff never make a distinction among our guests and give the e rooms which are available depending on the occupancy of the hotel and the reservation request.I do hope I could clarify the misunderstandings, and we may have the pleasure to welcome you again, and guarantee the fulfillment of your expectations. Best regards,Thomas SimonnetGénéral Mnager

Novotel Budapest Danube: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Stay by the river"

15th November 2010, Newcastle upon Tyne UK

This was a comfortable hotel which looks to be recently refurbished with a good sized standard room and a large reception which flowed into a bar and breakfast area.Very well positioned and although my room faced inwards towards a central area, the views from the river facing rooms must be very impressive. I can't fault the service from the staff who were very friendly and efficient. I would happily stay here again!
