ibis Rotorua: 3.0 out of 5 stars "Busy busy not relaxing"

17th January 2013, Roamer1002, Wellington

Location is great, staff were friendly and helpful. I didn't like the bright uniforms of the staff or walking down the corridor of bright coloured doors. It didn't give a feel of relaxation, more a feel of busy, hurry. Yet I would have thought that most people checking into a hotel want to unwind after a busy day and relax. The feel of the Ibis doesn't do that, which is a shame because it used to. We chose to eat at the restaurant connected with the Ibis and not walk around to the other one. I would not recommend doing this, the meals were not to the same standard which surprised us, given they are probably from the same kitchen. Breakfast had very little choice in comparison to the other restaurant, and as I'm gluten free there was very little I could eat. The Atlas restaurant on the other side is far superior and similar cost. We did not think the meals were value for money, and having staff exit the front desk ,to run to the kitchen to bring the meal and then get back to the desk to check people in, makes the customer feel they are in the way. The wait to order was similar, fitting in around those arriving and needing to be checked in. Combining to the feel of busy busy, rather than relax and enjoy your time with us.

Management responseAgain like so many reviews it is fantastic to see consistent positive comments in regards to our prime location adjacent to both the lake and village green as with the proximity to the city centre and retail outlets. The Ibis colour scheme is vibrant to display warmth and an element of fun, which we also ensure we deliver in our customer interaction and service. The food offering is a limited selection in comparison to the neighbouring Novotel and this is reflected in the room rates. It is great we have the ability to refer guests to Atlas Restaurant in Novotel Rotorua and it is nice to see you took this opportunity. I do apologise that there were limited offerings for your dietary requirements, but I am surprised that if you had made this known to any of the friendly team, that they were not able to adapt and accommodate your needs. Thanks all the same for taking the time to express your opinion on Trip Advisor as we value all input and look to optimise our guest experience at all times.

For the price you pay I do not think you can get a better stay. Great location, excellent staff, nice rooms, the convenience of good value fresh food from the restaurant in your room too. All at such a good price. Keep it up nice not to be ripped off.

ibis Rotorua: 5.0 out of 5 stars "Our night Rotorua ."

15th November 2012, bronsun, Taupo, New Zealand

Our stay at Ibis Rotorua was excellent as it was close to our meeting venue and easy to find and the room was everything we needed when away from home. The breakfast next morning was great which gave us energy for the rest of the day.

ibis Rotorua: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Great stay"

8th November 2012, Allegonda, Auckland Central, New Zealand

Very pleasant reception when we arrived. Room was clean and quiet with great view of the Lake. We had a meal in the restaurant in the evening, and cannot rate that highly enough. The steak was superb and the service was excellent! Would recommend highly.

ibis Rotorua: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Accor hotels in general"

5th November 2012, Palmerston North

Always good to stay in Accor hotels, easy to book, value for money, good accomodation but always slow to get your reward points allocated. I am off on a trip via Perth and Hong Hong but not sure how much hasstle I will have to go through to get my reward points allocated.Come on Accor you can do better

ibis Rotorua: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Overnighter"

24th October 2012, Hastings New Zealand

The Ibis in Rotorua is great value for stop overs. I can't give a full review as I was not a paying guest on this occasion. However the rooms are a good size and quality, the in house restaurant serves a good quality full buffet breakfast. I use the Atlas Restaurant at the Novotel next door for all main dining
