"Small but comfy"

The rooms are a tight but they cover the necessities. The location is central so if you if get out and about instead of spending hours in your room, you should be fine. Otherwise value for $ with helpful staff.View management response »

I had a small, wonderful lakeview room which had everything I needed. Stayed 2 nights, ate in the restaurant one of those nights and found the service very friendly and efficient. For the price, it was exceptional. Would stay again.View management response »

Upon walking into the Ibis (after a beautiful 4 hour drive) we were welcomed to the "tourist capital of New Zealand". The receptionist was very friendly and helped us organise a Maori experience. As we were there for a single night the Ibis was what was needed, a place to rest before setting out - a criteria it meet well (the Chinese breakfast option was interesting). Pity about the town of Rotarua...not the greatest place in New Zealand by any stretch!View management response »

Not toooooo luxurious but being a budget brand its expected. It was a great space to sleep and the customer service was above amazing! Breakfast wasn't too bad either. I would definitely stay here again for such a great price!View management response »

I have stayed here before and with the special deals that come up from the Accor group, it makes this hotel a very good price that is very hard to beat in this tourist town. Quite a small room but adequate for a few nights stay, very comfortable bed. The room was very clean, the carpet may need attention soon but generally no complaints. I had a cooked breakfast one morning but not the second morning as I was a little disappointed. The scrambled eggs were tasteless and uninspiring, made to go further with the addition of milk, not good at all. The rest of the cooked breakfast was okay but continental is more than enough for me, it was very good. The service overall is a bit casual, I was struggling with bags but was offered no help on check in. Just the usual 'here's your key, lifts on the left etc', not very welcoming. I have found this before at this hotel and think the staff need some extra training. Novotel in the Accor Group is next door and I went there one night for a coffee with a question for the concierge, his attitude was appalling so maybe it's a general thing for Accor in Rotorua. Management responseOverall you have written some very positive comments which I will ensure are shared with the team. A porter service to carry guest bags to their rooms is not a service provided by the Ibis brand worldwide and this is reflective in the room rate. The Novotel does offer a full porter service for bag delivery and is in a higher star rating than the Ibis. It is disappointing to read of your experience with the concierge in Novotel and I will definitely follow this up. I both apologise that a couple of the services were not to your expectation and also thank you for sharing your comments.

The staff were very friendly . Our room met our expectations. it was good to be able to control heat in the room on a chilly winters night. There were what appeared to be cigarette burns in our shower , this could be repaired to improve the look in the bathroom.View management response »
