"Good value hotel in good city centre location"
30th April 2012, henstridge
I've stayed at this etap on several occasions when I'm attending gigs in Birmingham. It is ideally located for the Birmingham 02 academy, and not too far a walk from the train station. There is sometimes a bit of a wait at reception at peak times but the staff are friendly. The rooms are standardly furnished and decorated to a good standard for a budget hotel. There are double glassed windows but for a quiet nights sleep you should go for rooms to the back of the hotel which overlook the hotel's carpark... £4 for 24 hours.I have never had breakfast here but there is generally a good selection of drinks and snacks in the foyer.

"Good Value"
21st April 2012, pedro09jones, llangedwyn
With the standard options of Premier Inn and the like costing upwards of £85, to find a room for £27 in this hotel was great. For the price, it was an excellent stay.I would have been disappointed if had cost any more, however. I checked in and went out for the afternoon. Upon returning, I found the room cold and draughty, only to find the window was not properly installed, and wouldn't shut correctly. It was no bother of mine to get my bags and request a new room; but it did seem a bother to the receptionist. Despite the obvious poor installation, I was still told that all faults must be reported within 15 minutes of check-in. I did reluctantly get a room change, and to my delight, the second room smelt far less like body odour than the first.Breakfast was good value at £4.25.Good location.Room was comfortable, if not a little bleak; but had everything I required for a one night stay. Staff were friendly, professional and helpful generally.Entire hotel clean and tidy.Best value stay I've had in years.

"clean and basic economy. security issue"
19th April 2012, cathy126, gympie
rooms clean but small and i know price is a bargain, but a kettle would have been nice . security issue with another person's key opening my door- not really resolved but did not happen again. staff pleasant and friendly and polite but not really knowledgable about facilities (eg gyms/pools/etc) in the area

Good clean hotel with comfortable bed giving a sound nights sleep.Room a little small but still good value for the location. After all this is not a holiday hotel.

"ETAP Birmingham"
29th March 2012, Exeter, United Kingdom
OK stay, the place is party central because it's cheap and cheerful so be prepared for some very rowdy and drunken guests! Not many hotels have heavy bouncers on the door! The room was clean and pod like, but when you plug in a hairdryer etc the power goes of in the entire room - er........ not good! It's somewhere to stay that is cheap, in my case to break up a journey, but that's all I can say about it.

"Basic but fine for what you pay"
29th March 2012, Coventry, United Kingdom
I've stayed at this hotel once before and returned for somewhere to crash after a night out in Birmingham. You aren't going to get somewhere luxurious - you will get somewhere clean, tidy and a place to put your head down for the night. The rooms are very basic but look clean. There is a tiny shower cubical in the room as well as a sink/vanity unit. There is also a desk, small rail for hanging clothes and a tv. Nothing like a kettle but you can get drinks in the foyer. The hotel is about 10 mins walk from New Street Station, 5 minutes from the Mailbox and close to the Chinese and Gay districts.

Very Basic but Clean, matteress are a little hard, but great location for town centre, under 10 min walk, Perfect if just looking for a base for Days out, The only Downfall of the hotel is the fact its on a busy duel carrage way into city centre so traffic noise all night Request back of hotel Room if a light sleeper

"Full of young prats"
28th February 2012, Nottingham, United Kingdom
The room itself was ok, not the cleanest room I've stayed in, other peoples bodily hair in the shower is rather off putting, but is stunk of cigarettes, and i'm a smoker! The shower wouldn't get hot, just warm. The next room decided to have a gathering of about 10 people who let of party poppers in the hallway and insisted on having the room door wedged open, while listening to music and eating Dominoes Pizza, not a relaxing nights sleep for a Wednesday.

"No Heating"
24th February 2012, Oxford, United Kingdom
I have stayed at the Etap Birmingham plenty of times and think it's great value for money if you get the normal rate of £34. Unfortunately due to my late booking I had to purchase at a higher rate of £60.Unfortunately on this stay i had no heating in my room and was during the time where we had received snow so found the room very very cold and unpleasent. But on pervious bookings i have found the rooms to be very well heated so i guess it was bad luck on this booking,

"Good value"
18th February 2012, tjncj, London, UK
Basic, functional room, a little on the small side but very suitable for an overnight stay on our way up north. You can't expect much for £18 and this represents good value for money. Ask for a room facing away from the motorway.

"Excellent value but a bit noisy"
17th February 2012, Brighton, United Kingdom
Less than £22 including breakfast - excellent value. Only down side was there was a lot of noise from the main road alongside the hotel. Will ask for a room at the back next time. Amenities as you would expect from a budget hotel were basic but adequate. Good breakfast. Helpful and friendly staff.

"Absolutely fantastic value - would highly recommend"
29th January 2012, North Wales
Had booked this hotel in advance for 18 pounds per night. Arrived early evening - plenty of car parking space available behind the hotel and on roads nearby. Hotel reception staff very friendly and courteous. Double bedroom had everything you could want. Clean crisp bedding, fluffy towels, TV and shower. Very clean and modern. Was very impressed considering its classed as a budget hotel. Better than some 4* hotels that I've stayed in. Would advise you to take couple of extra pillows and travel kettle as no tea/coffee facilities. On leaving found I had a flat tyre hotel staff phoned AA and where most helpful. Ideal location for two or three nights. Did'nt have the breakfast so can't comment on the food. Would certainly book again.

"For the price, excellent"
27th January 2012, Gillingham, United Kingdom
I searched high and low for a cheap hotel and this one cropped up for £18. It was largely clean (with the exception of the shower which I needed to rinse down before use as it was covered with long hair... I'm bald so it wasn't mine!) and the room was spartan but perfectly usable and good for the money. Sadly the room positioning wasn't so hot, with the car park outside the window having lorries with their refrigeration units running all night. If you book this hotel, don't request a ground floor room. I paid £3 more for the breakfast and wished I hadn't; there were two types of cereal and croissants made of rubber. The staff were all very polite and helpful, with the security person even helping me with my bags to my room when he saw I was using crutches. For the money its a pretty good bet if you are looking for something cheap.

"Decent hotel when on a budget"
13th January 2012, phasma, Geneve
Since my last review in 2007, the hotel was referbished, and now has nice babmoo design in the rooms and flatscreen TV. Overall all you might need for a good sleep and shower/toilet is in the room, and the hotel is 10 minutes by foot from city center.Having in mind very advantageos rates, I would warmly recommend this hotel for travellers on budget.
