FORMULE1 Sydney East: 2.0 out of 5 stars "Not the best."

8th March 2013, jakem729, Sydney, Australia

For the price it was good value, although the sink in the bathroom had a hole in it which was not very good. The hallways were extremely hot as it was a very hot day that we stayed, thankfully the rooms had air conditioning, but it seemed that the hallways didn't. Perhaps something should also be done about the shower to stop the water from going right through the whole bathroom, as there is nothing stopping the water.

FORMULE1 Sydney East: 2.0 out of 5 stars "A Formule One Disappointment"

1st March 2013, 4Parker, Tamworth, Australia

The stay at this hotel was very disappointing. Parking was requested in the booking and was advertised as being available onsite. This was not available on arrival. If the service cannot be provided it should not be advertised. The room booked was a standard room for a family-double bed & bunk. We were given a very small room with 2 bunk beds-backpacker style. The receptionist reluctantly changed the room to the style booked following guest complaint. However, the toilet in the new room was broken-it would not flush. The flush mechanism, which had been held together with corroded wire, was broken. The corosion indicated that it had been broken for some time and not repaired. In one of the lifts, the panel for selecting the floor was broken. One of the internet computers was 'out of order'. This hotel was poorly maintained. Whilst the view, if you're lucky enough to be on the harbour side, is impressive, the standard of the room, the service and the overall impression of the hotel was poor. The advertised onsite, undercover secure parking did not exist and the guests were expected to find a parking spot for the car overnight on the street in Kings Cross. Whilst this hotel is in a central location in Kings Cross I would not recommend this hotel to anyone and would not stay at this hotel out of choice in the future.

FORMULE1 Sydney East: 2.0 out of 5 stars "Formule 1 Sydney East - Australia Day 2012"

31st January 2013, 37Charlie1122, Sydney, Australia

On arrival we were greeted by friendly staff who assisted us with our parking and accommodation needs as we arrived prior to check in time. When going to our room we walked into a dark and mouldy smelly room.We immediately turned the airconditioning on to rid the smell and proceeded to leave the room.On arrival back to our room after attending Sydney festivities we walked into a room full of water where the airconditioning had leaked water onto the carpet creating a water logged area.I immediately went down and advised the front office who was able to move my wife and I into another room.Which we were grateful for .My suggestion would be to pretty up the place a little by freshly painting rooms frequently, replacing or cleaning carpet regularly and perhaps placing pot plants with flowers just to brighten up the motel areas.

Great value. Beds creaked like nothing else but otherwise very happy. Reception allowed us to check in 5 hours early which was fantastic, and then also upgraded the room and put us on a higher floor to avoid the noise! Great location, plenty of restaurants and pubs nearby. A bar fridge wouldn't go astray but overall better than expected.

FORMULE1 Sydney East: 5.0 out of 5 stars "Excellent value for money"

10th January 2013

We had a great stay, the only problem we had was there was no air conditioning in the Breakfast area and that was quite uncomfortable as there were a large number of people in a glass room with sun beating in on us, but we survived. We have stayed before and will be back for sure. The staff where friendly and helped me with my daughters wheel chair where ever they could. Traveling with an 8 year old in a broomstick plaster is quite a challenge.

FORMULE1 Sydney East: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Great spot in the heart of Sydney's Kings Cross"

8th January 2013, fartandbelch, Newcastle Aust

We had a 4 bunk room. Good clean accommodation. Adequate bathroom. Good front desk service. Very central to The Cross. O'Malleys Pub across the road is good. Kings Cross station is just around the corner. There are plenty of good eateries nearbyI will stay there again.

FORMULE1 Sydney East: 1.0 out of 5 stars "Run away"

31st December 2012, beachbum46_12, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada

We booked here thinking it was the one close to the airport as we had to overnight in Sydney prior to catching an international flight. We spoke with hotel staff Malika asking to change and were informed it wasn't possible. we were told they could refund our payment if we emailed them and would have to book a different hotel ourselves. We have had no response from the hotel although we emailed several times, and we were billed for the room we didn't use. They lied and stole our money!!!!

FORMULE1 Sydney East: 5.0 out of 5 stars "Formule 1 Kings Cross, Sydney Australia"

28th December 2012, Countryvisitor_12, Tamworth, Australia

Basic accommodation well located within 20 minute walk of CBD. Well priced. Room clean and tidy. Room capacity 3. Beds comfortable guaranteeing a good night's sleep. Minimal room fittings. TV, alarm clock radio, small table and single chair. Limited space in bathroom to locate clothing away from the spray of the shower. Limited car parking available on first come basis additional $20 AUD per night.

FORMULE1 Sydney East: 2.0 out of 5 stars "NZ Traveller"

18th December 2012, kel68_12, Kalgoorlie, Australia

Reception entrance is not on Williams Street, it is on the lane behind, which means dragging your luggage back up the hill (or the stairs). We had to manouvre around hoards of teenagers sitting on the path around the entrance, which isn't signed, to find someone working in reception who wasn't terribly interested in serving us or the other person waiting. Room was clean but very small and inadequate for 3 adults, let alonge travelling with a small child. Definitely a backpackers, not a hotel.

FORMULE1 Sydney East: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Good value for money"

14th December 2012, Doowah54, Auckland, New Zealand

I needed a room for just myself for 4 days and I wanted something at a reasonable price in a central location. The room fitted those criteria. If you wanted somewhere that was luxorious you would go somewhere else and pay a heap more. The bed was not the most comfortable. The room had no frills. The TV worked well. It was quiet.

FORMULE1 Sydney East: 3.0 out of 5 stars "Budget but acceptable"

27th November 2012

NOT a 5 star hotel but if you are not looking to spend time "enjoying" your hotel and just want somewhere to lay your head and economise by self catering then I think this is reasonable value. Rooms are basic but the beds were clean and comfortable.Overall the hotel looks a little un-cared for, new carpets and an upgrade to the decor would make a big difference, and the toilets off the dining area were surprisingly dirty and could have been a lot better with little more effort. The communal kitchen facilities were fine for those who wanted to economise by self-catering and the optional light / continental breakfast was fine and at a reasonable price (9AUD). The location was not too far from the centre. We walked from the hotel , along about 4 blocks , then through the "Domain" (park) to Sydney opera house. About 25-30 mins including the stroll thru the park. It's on a main bus route and the "city tour bus" stops about 5 blocks down the street.Car parking is minimal and costs 20 aud . Best book in advance if you're traveling by car..Manager and staff were friendly and very helpful.

1. Lowest public prices observed over the following seven days
