FORMULE1 Sydney East (soon ibis budget): 4.0 out of 5 stars "Formule 1 good value"

11th April 2012, Perth, Australia

This hotel is located in Kings cross area which is just 20 min walking distance to Darling Harbour. Train station is just 5 minutes walk, fast food and Restaurants 5 minutes walk. Very good location, extremely good value

FORMULE1 Sydney East (soon ibis budget): 3.0 out of 5 stars "Average value for Money"

7th April 2012, Sydney, Australia

Basically met all expectations for the price. Room was a little noisy due to window not sealing properly.

FORMULE1 Sydney East (soon ibis budget): 2.0 out of 5 stars "Good location but lousy room."

26th March 2012, Guangzhou, China

location is neary everything I expected, it takes 15-minute walk to darling harbour. the staff was friendly but the room was quite disappointing given acrid weird smell is the first thing you can experience when you walked into the door and only daylight lamp in the whole room. We did NOT even wanna stay in the room for more than one second, therefore we took a walk outside and return for a sleep only. Can take shuttle bus right in front of the hotel gate, which sets off eery 30 mins.

FORMULE1 Sydney East (soon ibis budget): 1.0 out of 5 stars "Not recommended"

22nd March 2012, Melbourne, Australia

The hotel is looking tired - worn carpet, grubby walls and old mattress. The air-conditioner compressor was noisy, though the fan was OK. The light in the bathroom was so weak it was impossible to see one's face in the mirror, and the tiny (A4 sized) mirror in the main room was placed too high for my wife (who is average height, 167cm) to use! Our main complaint was not being able to open the window. On the positive side, the staff were friendly and helpful, and being able to park the car on site at a reasonable price was good for us.

FORMULE1 Sydney East (soon ibis budget): 2.0 out of 5 stars "Needs a good clean and refurb"

13th March 2012, Sydney, Australia

The lifts, foyer and carpets including the room looked terrible and unclean. Would not recommend anyone stay there.

FORMULE1 Sydney East (soon ibis budget): 2.0 out of 5 stars "Location is good, but rooms are dirty!"

13th March 2012, skrosvik, Oslo, Norway

I was surprised how good the location was - basically 3 minutes walk from King's Cross station, and 10 minutes walk from Pitt Street in the middle of Sydney's CBD.However, the rooms were utterly disgusting, floors were dirty. I was disgusted to put my bare feet on the floors. There were long black hairs in the bed, and disgusting stains on the bathroom floor. The mirror in the bathroom was dirty as well. The TV had 5 channels, the bed was hard, it was not possible to open the window as it was locked. There were garbage in the halls, and carpets everywhere had stains on them. I have never seen such a dirty hotel before. Housekeeping staff should get sacked!I know Formule 1 is supposed to be a very basic hotel chain. I am fine with basic, but I am not fine with dirty. Especially not when paying 100 AUD per night. I would be fine by paying half of that, but 100 AUD is was too much for Formule 1 Sydney East. Poor value! I am surprised how Accor want to be associated with such dirty hotel...The WIFI reception in the rooms is very poor and expensive - 20 AUD for 3 hours!!The front desk staff were accomodation and friendly though :)

FORMULE1 Sydney East (soon ibis budget): 3.0 out of 5 stars "Cleanliness leaves a lot to be desired"

13th March 2012, Port Macquarie, Australia

I know that the rooms are cheap and I can appreciate that your not going to get a lot. However I do expect the room to be clean. The bathroom was breading baby cockroaches which were coming into the room and my bed frame had chewed gum stuck to it. If the room had been clean I would probably stay there again if I needed cheap accommodation.

FORMULE1 Sydney East (soon ibis budget): 3.0 out of 5 stars "Wouldn't stay again."

12th March 2012, JennyB58, Sydney

The Hotel was difficult to access & unload due to location. Parking is very limited & difficult to enter. Room was very shabby & didn't seem to well cleaned. The blanket on the bed was disgusting, dirty looking & looked like it hadn't been cleaned for a while. No soap dish in shower cubicle. No where to hang clothes & not even a table or bedside table.Staff were helpful & attended to any needs. Location of hotel handy for access we required for our business.Seemed overpriced for that weekend due to an event on in city.

FORMULE1 Sydney East (soon ibis budget): 2.0 out of 5 stars "needs reno's and a good clean"

4th March 2012, Newcastle, Australia

Hotel is run down, Hallways smell, carpet and walls are filthy, take thongs to wear in the shower. The TV is tiny , they still havent switched to digital TV. Stains in the blankets, stains on the mattress and also ripped. Breakfast coffee is rancid.A major concern is that the windows do not open so the rooms are very stuffy ans smelly, rooms are provided with an a/c but the filter is absulutely filthy so not sure how clean the air from the a/c is.The service was good, staff to a good job considering the facilities they deal with, location also good, some rooms have nice views of the harbour bridge and opera house but the windows are dirty so your view is hampered by bird droppings running down the window. They are cheap rooms i would agree but i think there should be an average standard of cleanliness in the hotel industry no matter what price your pay and i think this hotel may dip below this level. All in all still a bit overproced for the condition of the rooms but otherwise ok.

FORMULE1 Sydney East (soon ibis budget): 1.0 out of 5 stars "Horrible Experience"

2nd March 2012, Chicago, Illinois, USA

Very small room with bunk beds, no proper ventilation. Bathroom very small, when you take shower water comes out in the room. Air-condition unit was in poor condition. When I told reception that I am feeling suffocation in the room and requested for some other room I was told that no other rooms available right now due to Friday/Saturday night all rooms were full, which is understandable. However I was promised that will be given the bigger room when it will be vacant, but was never given the room. Finally we have to cut down our stay instead of staying for 4 nights booking we stayed only 3 nights and we were not given any refund and even for courtesy no regret for our inconvenience was shown. I will never recommend any one to stay in this hotel.

FORMULE1 Sydney East (soon ibis budget): 3.0 out of 5 stars "Convenient but needs re-furbishing"

28th February 2012, London, United Kingdom

The hotel is in a very convenient location and good value. However, it is not up to the usual Formule1 standard with respect to cleanliness and general condition. It needs to be re-furbished. Although the shower worked well in our bathroom, the water to the basin only dribbled. The manager did try to fix that, but was not successful. So my view of the hotel is rather mixed.

FORMULE1 Sydney East (soon ibis budget): 1.0 out of 5 stars "Disgusting"

15th February 2012, Sydney, Australia

I Have stayed in Formule 1 Hotels before and have had no problems with them. This Hotel gives the rest of the Formule 1 brand a bad name there is no other word to describe it but as disgusting. This was after requesting to change rooms. I Don't expect a lot from a budget hotel but do still expect a clean comfortable nights sleep from which this particular hotel I did not.

FORMULE1 Sydney East (soon ibis budget): 3.0 out of 5 stars "Good location and value"

13th February 2012, Pune

It is difficult to find a good value at Sydney because it is an expensive city, this is a small but clean hotel, enough for 3 or 4 days. The location is fantastic, in 10 minuts walking you can be in opera house.

FORMULE1 Sydney East (soon ibis budget): 3.0 out of 5 stars "staying close to the heart of Sydney"

30th January 2012, Shellharbour, Australia

The hotel was in a great position 5 mins walk from train station. Rooms small in size but the price was right. Recption was pleasant and helped us with our enquires of the area. We recommend this as a great stop over place before a trip away just like ours.

FORMULE1 Sydney East (soon ibis budget): 3.0 out of 5 stars "Get what you pay for"

29th January 2012, Alstonville, Australia

Very average hotel, hallway stunk quite badly the carpets needed to be replaced, room smelled stale as well, the cleaning lady literally pulled my Donna cover up and that was all she did, the location was good, a light breakfast should be included in the price, if you pay over 80 dollars a night for this one your paying too much. On the borderline of good value for what you get.

FORMULE1 Sydney East (soon ibis budget): 3.0 out of 5 stars "Great views and value"

24th January 2012, Canberra

Formule1 East Sydney is unbeatable for location and price. Transport is close by and parking is available. The rooms are small and sparse (Like all Formule 1) but clean and neat and beds are comfortable. We asked for an extra pillow and got it with a smile. As there are no tea-making facilities, I took a small electric kettle and placed it on the bench near a power point. The staff were very friendly, polit, accommodating and helpful. I will be booking there every time I travel to Sydney.

FORMULE1 Sydney East (soon ibis budget): 4.0 out of 5 stars "Enjoyable stay"

24th January 2012, Kempton Park, South Africa

Good day. The hotel is located in Kings Cross, very close to the train station and local bus service as well as a supermarket to buy food. The hotel is very neat and the rooms are adequate for a budget travellers needs.

FORMULE1 Sydney East (soon ibis budget): 1.0 out of 5 stars "Worst Accor Hotel EVER!"

16th January 2012, Melbourne

terrible mattress, rooms stink mold, air conditioner liking inside the room, elevators without buttons, no tv remote, no power plugs close to the bed. The worst experience I had in a hotel ever! First room they gave us the sower wasn't working properly and the toilet lights wasn't working... We changed rooms and the second room the window blind wouldn't close.

FORMULE1 Sydney East (soon ibis budget): 2.0 out of 5 stars "Cheap & Nasty"

6th January 2012, Nulkaba, Australia

We arrived on level 2 to find garbage bags strewn through the entire hallway which sat there for a couple hours. The room itself smelled like a previous occupant had urinated on the carpet, but the smell may have been the buildup of mould on the bathroom ceiling, or possibly the mould on the air conditioning system (who knows what we were breathing in while it was running!). All in all i guess you get what you pay for! My partner & I as well as another couple booked in for 2 nights over New Years but only ended up staying one of those nights because no one wanted to spend anymore time in that room. However at $110 per couple per night I guess it was to be expected. Wont make the same mistake again, just because it is cheap doesn't mean you should let your rooms get in that state.

FORMULE1 Sydney East (soon ibis budget): 3.0 out of 5 stars "You get what you pay for"

6th January 2012, Canberra, Australia

We stayed at Formula 1 Kings Cross because it was cheap and the location was fantastic. The only real downfall about the room is the bathroom but other than that you really do get what you pay for.We stayed there for New Years and so the location was fantastic as getting taxis was cheap. We could see the Harbor Bridge and the Opera House from where we were so we could see the NYE fireworks which was special. The staff were friendly enough but the room didn't have a phone to call reception and that was a bit annoying and the TV didn't have a remote control which is very old fashioned too.
