"Great stay"
22nd May 2012, Vpoon, Hong Kong, China
It's better than my expectation, very neat and clean room. It's great for a short stay especially when everything is expensive in Geneva.Only cons are small room and a bit costy.
"Good value hotel"
22nd May 2012, interguy, Toronto, Ontario, Canada
This hotel offers a good value for an expensive city like Geneva. It was clean and there is a mall across from the street. It is located within 8-10 mn of the airport and about 15 mn from downtown Geneva where the lake and most stores are located. The reception gave me a courtesy public transportation pass for my 3 day stay in Geneva. Internet access in the room was great and always on when I needed it. The room size was decent, although the washroom and bathroom were tiny (by North American standards).
"EXCELLENT!"
23rd April 2012, Halton, Lancaster
If you are arriving in Geneva by plane, don't forget to get you FREE bus ticket by pressing the button on the Ticket Machine in the Arrivals Hall near the "Nothing To Declare" sign!Go to the the Number 10 bus stop outside the airport and and catch the Number 10 bus to Pailly (Balexert). You can watch your stop coming up on the TV screen behind where the driver sits!Check-In was excellent with English speaking receptionist who will give you your room key but also don't forget to get your Geneva Transport Card which entitles you to FREE bus travel in all of Geneva (zone 10) for all of your stay in Geneva (15 days max). One day why not catch the bus to Rive and have a look at the shops (don't forget your mortgage!!!) and the lake, at least the bus ticket is free!Bedroom was excellent, no wardrobe or coffee/tea making stuff (this is an Etap- you get what you pay for). Separate toilet and shower with new bar of soap every day supplied by the super cleaner. My room was even inspected by the Cleaner's boss!Double bed (with bunk bed above it at right angles above it) was lovely!Free wi-fi was great ( you get your code when you check in - DON'T LOSE IT!! )This is a basic Etap and you don't get the extras you would in the more upmarket Novotel Hotels eg no hair drier/pen/paper/envelope but as a Solo TravelLer like me it was great!Opposite the hotel is the Balexert Shopping Centre which closes early at 1900 or 2100 Thursday onwards. You can buy your food in the Migros (don't forget your carrier bags) or in one of the restaurants/McDonalds in this enormous Centre! You can also dine in the hotel's restaurant as I did on my last night. There are two bars attached to this place, as well.I had my breakfast there every day, not cooked but a good choice of juice/cereals etc!In conclusion, a good place to stay!
"staff is terrible"
3rd April 2012, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
Checking in and out is an experience I wish no one would have to go through at this hotel: lack of personnel, lack of manners, rudeness, etc are just part of this awful unwelcoming experience. An inspector of Accor should definitely show up without announcing himself/herself. They would see what I mean for themselves.Apart from that, the room is so terrible (but pricy). No towel to step on as you come out of the shower. Very bad.
"A Previously acceptableSwiss hotel"
29th March 2012, Fleet, United Kingdom
We have stayed at this hotel previously and found it convenient for our purposes whilst travelling. On this occasion we found the shower cubicle was grubby with body hair around the door sill and there were two used cotton buds left by the side of the bed. For a Swiss hotel this was really unacceptable. The room looked tired. On the plus side the bed was clean though not overly comfortable. The underground parking charge was extremely expensive.
"ETAP Geneve"

The staff were very efficient, helpful and friendly. The hotel was comfortable and in a good location with access to transport.
"Inexpensive hotel close to the airport"
29th February 2012, DCalexandre
Hotels being very expensive in switzerland, this is a good place to stay if you have to catch an early flight out of GVA. Hotel is accross from a shopping mall and 5min away from the airport. No thrill rooms, basic comfort and clean. Not the place to stay if you're looking to spend a few days in Geneva.
"One night in Geneva"
13th February 2012, Cairo, Egypt
Great place, value for the money for short trips in a good location Vs geneva expensive hotels. Room a bit small for a family with a small kid and too many stuff, however great for one or two adults with small carriers or handbags
"Convenient place near Balexert"
7th February 2012, New York City, New York, USA
I stayed at this Etap Hotel for one night by recommendation of an old co-worker.The location is perfect for close transport, shopping (directly across Balexert Mall), very near the airport, Cafe du soleil (famous for fondue), and the English speaking Catholic church. The one downside is that internet is not free and there was no phone in my room. Also, breakfast was not included in the price of the room. However, it was neat, clean and spacious for a budget hotel.
"No Frills"
28th January 2012
The service was OK. In addition to no telephones in the room it was impossible to get a pen and paper. I had to beg on two separate occasions before someone at the desk gave me a pen. The others loaned me theirs and I had to return it. The location was neither in the city nor at the airport rather somewhere in between. Other than the mall across the street I did not see any restaurants other than the one in the hotel. I asked at the desk to borrow an adapter and was told to buy one in the vending machine. I had to buy WiFi time at a very high price and reverted to using the computer in the lobby. I felt this hotel was not suited to the business traveler. The bed was too hard and took up the entire floor space in the room.
"Good value for what it is and very clean"
20th January 2012, Leeds, United Kingdom
I was impressed with the hotel particularly the cleanliness of my room (505). The shower, toilet, wash basin and general room were very clean. The view from the window, that was to be kept shut, was not too bad looking down onto the main rd to the city centre. The tv had 30-40 channels, the vast majority none english but it was something to look at when in. The location was ideal for me 10 minutes from the airport and about 15 minutes from the city centre. That is if you take advantage of the very frequent trolleybus (number 10) that has stops right outside of the hotel. The male receptionist offered me the free public transport pass when I checked in, which I believe is available to any guest staying at any hotel throughout Geneva. I readilly accepted it. I was not given any information about available food times in the hotel which I may have taken advantage of. The lift and door lock of my room was operated by the same swipe card and this did make me feel that the hotel was pretty secure. To me this hotel is purely somewhere to base yourself while exploring the city or region. If you plan to be out and about most of the time then it is ideal. I was on my own in the room but two people would not be too much of a squeeze. If there were three in the room then you would have to be best of pals and not be staying beyond a few days. I enjoyed my short stay in Geneva and the position and cleanliness of the ETAP Cointrin hotel were part of the reason. I would think that I may use the hotel again for a short break, possibly in the summer this time.Peter, LEEDS, UK
"Great Value - Good Location"
10th January 2012, Kilkenny, Ireland
For last minute value in Geneva - this ticks many boxes. SFR79 - really close to teh airport (I walked - leass than 15 mins) - and a short 10 mins hop into town on the Number 10 Bus. I loved the small touches of free wifi as well as a complimentary Geneva public transport travel card. Receptionists were efficient & polite - allowed me to check in early (10am) - and the hotel was spotless. Couldn't beat the price - and for a short stay where I didn't have time to enjoy any frills anyway, The Etap was perfect.
"Unfriendly front desk attendant and very limited choices of breakfast"
9th January 2012, Singapore, Singapore
I stayed there for 2 nights during December 2011. Our travelling mood were badly affected when we were attended by a front desk lady attendant whom is in her late 30s to early 40s. She was rude and unfriendly when we addressed our concerns and questions. We felt discriminated as an Asian when she said people in Switzerland can stayed/ sleep in a room without windows being opened and indicate that we as an Asian should not even mention this problem. Subsequently, as suggested by other reviewers from tripadvisor, we did ask for an Alps- view room. The lady attendant wasn't very sure on the matter and argued with her colleague right in front of the counter. As a consequence, she just allocated a room with just a peek of the Alps' tip. In a nutshell, the quality of services at the front desk should be taken seriously, reviewed, trained to be more approachable, friendly and have to learn HOW TO SMILE!!
"Very basic"
4th October 2011, Sydney, Australia
Awful colors, strange smell in the rooms, bed sheets were OK but weird. In one room the TV remote did not work so after complaining I was given another room (I needed an alarm to work). Probably the worst hotel I stayed so far in Europe.
"Good hotel for a one day plane layover"
27th September 2011
The hotel is easy to reach by bus #10 from the airport. Hotel is located across the street from the Balexert Mall containing a Mc Donalds and Migros. Bus #10 continues into the city (get off bus at Bel Air stop and walk toward the lake to see the Jet d' eau or Flower Clock ). The hotel is clean and well kept with the typical Etap room set-up.
"Good for 1 or 2 night stay"
22nd September 2011, Martigny, Switzerland
The location is good. You have a theater nearby and shopping center. They give bus pass free to travel in Geneva, and the frequency of bus is also good. The rooms are small but as I said it is good for 1 or 2 night stay. Internet you have to pay for it. Never understood when internet is so cheap why pay so much for it.
"An overnight stop"
15th September 2011, Bolton, United Kingdom
We didn't know what to expect but were very pleased that we had chosen to stay at the Etap Hotel. For cleanliness, convenience and more than anything else 'value for money' we doubt that it can be bettered in Geneva. A good value breakfast, and a free bus pass for the day followng our overnight stay were much appreciated.
"Hotel Etap Vernier, Geneva"
6th September 2011, Chisinau, Moldova
A good hotel ideal for business travel, close to Countrin airport, advantageous price compared to other hotels in Geneva. Modernly designed rooms. Bistro / restaurant next door, nice outside area. Excellent conditions for online booking / cancellation. Internet, however, against payment (hot spot).
