Mercure Grand Hôtel Le Touquet: 3.0 out of 5 stars "Too far out from the town"

16th May 2012, Mecure, London, United Kingdom

The hotel was a bit too far to walk to the centre of town. The Receptiopn staff were not very helpfulThe hotel did not take payment until check-out. This booking was made in January with ACCOR who's confirmation states "full payment is taken at time of booking"! but it clearly was not!

Mercure Grand Hôtel Le Touquet: 3.0 out of 5 stars "Nice hotel, good location"

19th February 2012

Nice hotel, friendly staff, nice rooms, great swimming pool.Breakfast is not value for money, lot of staff but not a lot going on! you may have to ask for hot food (bacon, sausages, eggs) as there isn't any urgency to supply it

Mercure Grand Hôtel Le Touquet: 1.0 out of 5 stars "Dreadful service - not worth the money"

16th February 2012, grbucket, Brighton, United Kingdom

We checked in to our upgraded bay view deluxe room with no offer or help with our bags. The room had very bizarre decoration and had been recently updated in a unique style. The room was very cold and dark but well equipped with empty minibar/fridge and a flatscreen tv as well as lovely bathroom. After watching tv we went to the bathroom to shower for dinner. There was water leaking through the ceiling from the room above and a huge puddle of water on the floor. I phoned reception - there only seemed to be one person on duty. He did not speak any English but fortunately I do speak French and explained the problem. He said he would send somebody to take a look. We waited nearly 2 hours and nobody arrived so we went, unshowered, to dinner. At this point the water was spilling into the room and we hadn't been able to use the bath/toilet/shower or sink. We stopped at reception and complained again. We were told that technical help had been phoned. I stressed that we needed to be moved to another room. I was told there were NO othere rooms available - this is a mid Feb weekend ? We then went to dinner. We had booked the most expensive room deal with dinner included as we have found Mercure food in the UK excellent. We were told we couldn't eat in the very nice main restaurant but had to go downstairs. We were shown to a freezing room like a cheap cafeteria and sat at a plastic table with uncomforatble plastic chairs. It was like being back at school. There were 2 choices for starter main and dessert and only one waiter on duty for the 9 tables filled that evening. We all had to sit with coats on as it was so cold. There were bright lights, no music and a terrible atmosphere. I would never have paid extra for a meal there had I known it would be like that, The food was OK but so little choice and small portions. We then went back to our room, optimistic that something would have been done. The water was pouring out into the corridor from the room and clearly nobody had even been to take a look. There could have been electrical problems and difficulties in the room above. My husband then lost his temper and shouted at the manager/only person on duty and demanded he looked at the problem. He did. He was clearly panicked by this and then found us, at 10.30pm , another room. No help was offered to move our things. We were moved to a very inferior room and offered no refund the next day. Awful. Pool good though !

Mercure Grand Hôtel Le Touquet: 3.0 out of 5 stars "One night in Le Touquet"

4th September 2011, neann2546, Lewes, United Kingdom

En route to the Channel Tunnel, we stayed one night, having driven up from the Dordogne, as we know Le Touquet and love it! The room was clean and comfortable, but it was mansard style which we do not like. Reception was satisfactory but some of the waiting staff and bar staff we felt could do with a bit more training. The Snake Bar furniture, whilst looking funky and attractive was, certainly on some of the "chairs", exceedingly uncomfortable!!Food was extremely good!

Mercure Grand Hôtel Le Touquet: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Art and food"

29th August 2011, London

Very impressed with the whole ambience of the hotel and the helpful staff. Food was very good indeed, dinner and breakfast. Loved the art references and sculpture in the grounds. Travelling by motorbike we were guided to a safe place to park overnight. We will return.

Mercure Grand Hôtel Le Touquet: 4.0 out of 5 stars "always a pleasure"

14th August 2011, luxembourg

good location - very close to the sea, in walking distance to several restaurantsmarvellous service - more than welcoming nearly reading your lipsdesign - a work of art i.e. baryou have to require your favourite guest advantages as they do not ask you nor provide them diectly

Mercure Grand Hôtel Le Touquet: 3.0 out of 5 stars "Not that Special"

7th August 2011, London

I reserved a "superior room with Canche view". While the room was large, the combination of decor, inadequate lighting and very small window made it appear VERY gloomy and not an attractive place to spend any time. The bar and restaurant are both nicely decorated and comfortable but there is very little concession to comfort in the rooms. Service from the front desk was unremarkable. This is not the worst hotel I have stayed at but is definitely nothing special!

Mercure Grand Hôtel Le Touquet: 1.0 out of 5 stars "Doesn't deserve to have the Mercure brand name!"

31st July 2011, Bexhill

Divine looking hotel until you try to park..book in..get the right rooms you reserved (singles instead of doubles.. Both with town views not river...receptionists very unfriendly and not helpful or apologetic. Decor looks like someone has been on speed when designing the reception area and corridors. Then there is the decor of the rooms... Well how long have you got..chipped and broken furniture( but had a new TV !) carpets, ceilings, Walls, pictures all faded and seen better days. Didn't see that it had no air conditioning or tea or coffee making facilities...Internet connection dire! Determined not to eat in the restaurant as not quite sure when last health check or whatnthe kitchen equipment or hygiene was like. Ignored by unfriendly staff, not even any acknowledgement in corridors etc and then even tried to chrage for breakfast we hadn't had. Don't be fooled into booking this sma of a hotel it doesn't deserve to be part of the Accor group- book in to any hotel except this one!

Mercure Grand Hôtel Le Touquet: 4.0 out of 5 stars "En Route stop-over"

25th July 2011, peterandjan1996, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, United Kingdom

This Hotel was a good one night stop-over for us, en- route to our Spanish Villa. The hotel is located near the estuary in a nice part of town and not far from the town centre.Did not dine in the restaurant, but have to say the restaurant looked delightful. We took breakfast in the Bistro, which consisted of nearly everything you could imagine, from croissants, doughnuts, fresh fruit, bacon, eggs hams, cheeses and fresh breads etc etc and was all fresh. Dog friendly as well, which is a must for us. Definately would stay again . On the down side, rooms were clean and tidy but a little tired, and no Kettle or tea making facility, which is strange as nearly all the Novotels and Mercurys we have previously stayed in always have tea making facilities in the room.

Mercure Grand Hôtel Le Touquet: 2.0 out of 5 stars "Deceptive appearances"

17th July 2011, Crawley, UK

The hotel's exterior is impressive, but things soon failed to live up up to the appearance. After checking in, I reached the room, probably as far from reception as it could be, and discovered that a key card was needed for the electricity. After walking back to reception, I had to wait around ten minutes while both reception girls dealt with a group of youths returning bicycles and reclaiming deposits. An electricity key card was given with no trace of an apology. The room itself was small and cramped, with only one chair available. The bathroom was shabby with dirty grouting and a general air of decay. One its first use, the plug in the wash basin stuck in its hole, where it remained for the rest of the stay. The bed's headboard contained two electrical sockets, both of which were loose. With a wide choice of restaurants in Le Touquet, and breakfast priced at €17 per person, we didn't try the food.Overall, the experience was much worse than the previous night at a theoretically lower grade Novotel, also in the Accor group.

Mercure Grand Hôtel Le Touquet: 2.0 out of 5 stars "Crazy Interior Decorators"

4th July 2011

Last time we stayed there it was quite a pleasant hotel but since then it has had a crazy make over by some Goths or other weirdo “interior designers” who have completely wrecked the place. The wall coverings, the paint work, the carpets, the furniture and the fittings are awful. When we went down for dinner we were told to sit in a dingy corner despite less than half the tables being occupied. I said I was not prepared to sit there and asked to be allocated one of the empty tables by the widows overlooking the garden (which is in need of some TLC but has not been attacked by the Goths and wizards). I was told that this would not be convenient as those tables were need for breakfast. I said this was not acceptable and that the wishes of the customers should be given higher priority than the convenience of the table setters and asked to speak to a more senior member of staff. We were then spoken to by a very pleasant young lady who, in perfect English, asked which particular table we would prefer. On being told she the set the table for us. The dinner was adequate but breakfast the following day was poor.We will not go there again.
