"Superb location on the beach in Seminyak"

This is one of the great hotels of the world, ,classic Balinese architecture, very well mintained and immaculetly clean, It all looks so effortless like the gliding swan but there must be a big effort going on behind the scenes.Food is good and the Balinese staff always most gracious and hospitable.We will certainly be back.

"Bali experience"

Hotel was much the same as any other - initially on arriving was given a room looking out onto nothing but a frangipangi tree so asked to be moved to a room with a view especially as we had booked a room and paid for it 8 months prior- rooms very spacious but dark - the lighting is very dark (these new bulbs).The sea was filthy with all the rubbish being washed up onto the sand and the sand was black -beach did have security men which stopped anyone from tresspassing which I thought was good.

Looked great in pictures but when we got there we found that sometimes photos lie.This place is old and in need of a full makeover. Our room, one of only 3 suites in the whole hotel was to say the least very ordinary. In one of our bathrooms we had human excrement and toilet paper coming out of the floor drain. The smell was unbearable, but it was not until the last night of our 5 night stay that we found the reason for the smell. We complained to management and after wasting 4 or 5 hours of our holiday time we were offered 1 night free. Stay away from this place... we should have been given our whole stay here free. Since returning from Bali my wife and I have both been very sick and I can only guess the reason

"Friendly staff and relaxing resort."

The staff are the best feature of the Royal Beach Seminyak. Without exception they were friendly and helpful. The hotel is starting to look a bit on the 'tired' side and probably getting close to needing a major overhaul in order to compete with more modern resorts. It is a shame the large vacant public spaces aren't put to better use. On the whole, the restaurants were good value and quality. There is a lack of signage throughout the gardens to direct you to the pools. The spa and massage facilities were very good. We enjoyed a relaxing stay and would definitely visit again.

"A LOVELY GARDEN HOTEL"

This is my second time here. this time i bought my husband with me instead of girlfriends (guess who i will pick to take next time... g.f's win.). I though he would love the streams, fish, wildlife, tropical garden. The place is lovely and large. pools are great. Nice and shady, with daybeds scattered through the grounds. food was great. Staff excellent. Love the "living room" and high teas. I really like cool rooms and found meals in no airconditioned areas not as enjoyable as if they were in cooler surroundings. room air con didn't get cooler than 22 either. topper on bed made it lovely and soft, but very warm too. room walls are lovely and thick and we didn't hear our neighbours. rooms have verandahs that look out onto the lovely gardenssecurity at road and at beach to stop people wandering in.

Helpful and friendly statt. Great pool and view of the beach. Nice and close to the great restaurants of Seminyak. Perhaps the spa could do with an update. Overall, excellent!

"Good but not fantastic"

Hotel was clean and nice with a variety of restaurants at reasonable prices.Service was a real let down though. Except for Putu (the concierge), the rest of the team were just perfunctory. We were served welcome drinks in a tray and the hotel receptionist (a young chap) expected me to carry the tray to my wife who was sitting at the sofa.The hotel provided free shuttle service to Seminyak Square and Kuta and we were not informed at all. We had to ask. The bell boy taking the free shuttle service booking did not sound pleasant and saw it bothersome to inform us the departure times. It was our first day at the hotel and he expected us to know the departure time?

"Royal Bali Seminyak"

Formerly the Sofitel Seminyak nothing has been lost under MGallery,(still the Accor flag) in the quality of this establishment. My wife and I have stayed here some 8 times, usually for 11 - 15 days, so that in itself should be testament enough. The location is good, the grounds relaxing, the staff excellent(it is Bali after-all), the food both breakfast and restaurants are great. All this set in a quiet, tropical ambience.

"On a grand scale"

Enjoyed this friendly and beautiful resort. For married couple & groups of friends ideal.You can stay without ever leaving as everything is well catered for. If you want more action stay closer to Kuta where walking around is easier and alot busier.

"Upgraded"

The reception staff are excellent. We got upgraded to a suite which was excellent.the staff around the pool bar are very slow, breakfast staff were usually ok but sometimes forgot to return.overall excellent value for money and we would stay again.

"Fantastic holiday at the Royal Beach Hotel Seminyak"

My family & I had a fantastic holiday at this hotel. It is beachfront, has 2 pools, great food & located in the excellent shopping area of Seminyak. The staff could'nt be better, nothing was a problem for them. I highly recommend this hotel.

"Enjoyable stay but some unexpected and unwelcome surprises"

We have stayed at this hotel when it was the Sofitel and very little has changed. The breakfast room is now located close to the swimming pool and has the added benefit of viewing the pool and some ocean glimpses. However the area is not air conditioned and the ceiling fans are not really sufficient on humid daysThe room we chose was a King Size deluxe and it was very spacious for my wife and I and our daughter who slept of the sofa bed. One night our daughter ordered room service and we left the plate on a side table at the end of our bed. As we were getting ready to turn off the lights we spotted a rat running around the room and in particular onto the side table that had the dinner plate on it. The rat ran around several times before I went to reception to ask to be moved to another room ( at 11.30pm at night no less!). We were moved to a villa for the night before returning to the room the next day after reassurances from the hotel that the offending creature would not be returning ( which it didn't but it was not what we expected in a hotel of this quality--we have stayed at hundreds of hotels over a 30 year period and I have never seen a rat in a hotel room beforeThe pool areas are good but the hotel was busy and it was difficult some days accessing sun lounges for the three of us together. The pool staff need to step up their service as it was very slow on most days and no attempt was made to ask hotel residents f they wanted drinksThe other disconcerting event was the spa area. I had a one and a half hour massage by a male masseuse and he was a little too friendly with his hands and made suggestions which were unprofessional and unnecessary--the hotel was helpful with my complaint and offered a one hour extra massage at no charge.Overall we would recommend the hotel but it needs a little more attention to detail. The spa was expensive for the treatment you receive ( if you walk 5 mins up the road there are several other spa saloons with much better interiors and service for a quarter of the price). The location is excellent and only 5 mins by taxi to all the trendy Seminyak restaurants

"Not spectacular but good choice"

Don't expect anything spectacular (this is Bali ... not Miami) but this hotel is relatively good value in comparison to other choices: great location in Seminyak (you can walk next door to Goda Goda or Kudeta trendy restaurants), minutes in taxi to main street for shopping or partying (taxi anywhere within Seminyak will cost you 25'000rp = $2.5), nice pool surroundings with bar/restaurant facing the beach ... if you fancy surfing you can easily rent a board by the beach. Food and drinks are good and expensive as in all trendy (non-local) restaurants (main course around 2000'000rp = $20 and drinks 100'000rp = $10). Evening atmosphere near the pool is the best. Room decoration is aging but the bed was very comfortable and we splet really well.Overall if you are looking for nice and convenient place to explore the aera this is a good choice, but don't expect anything spectacular (newer hotels like the W are the top range but also charge top rates). Worth it if you manage to get a good deal.

"IToo large and spread out. sterile atmosphere"

I planned to spend Nyepi in a 'luxury' hotel but was disappointed. I didn't get good vibes. The hotel is too big, too spread out and has some dark areas in the buldings. The gardens are impressive, the location is good, the staff all OK, breakfast v.good but very slow to serve a morning cappuccino and lunch in the Husk Restaurant. the superior irooms are v.average, balconies small. I would not stay there again, I have stayed at many hotels in the Seminyak area that I enjoyed more and at a lower rate.

"Peace of Heaven"

Our stay commenced with an upgrade. Our room was clean spacious and in a lovely serene location. Bathroom was spacious and every amenity provided. The Staff were accommodating and friendly and service for meals or drinks was quick.. Breakfast menu covered all food types and was very selective. The hotel didn't appear to cater for small children as I saw no evidence of child facilities however this suited me fine. Make sure you walk around this hotel as it has a few hidden shops etc. Hotel fronts the beach and is within walking distance of shopping area and a walk along the beach for 5 mins gets you to "Cocoon" Restaurant .I would stay here again

"Great Value in Seminyak"

I was on a business trip in SE Asia and Decided to take a 3 day holiday to recharge when my work was done. Never been to Bali before but had some friends recommend Seminyak so I decided to check it out. I've stayed at Accor properties in many other locations and have always had positive experiences, so when I found the Royal Beach hotel via web search I decided to give it a try. It seemed to have the right combination of location, reviews, and price (value) that I was looking for.Let me just say that it was exactly what I hoped for. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful from the time I was picked up at the airport to when they dropped me off for my departure. The entire property was clean, stylish and very well maintained. My room was clean and comfortable with all the necessary amenities. Air conditioning worked perfectly which is always important when traveling in this region. I didn't venture outside the property much but when I did, the location was very convenient for shopping, food, and nightlife. The only negative I can think of is not the fault of the hotel but of my own. This hotel (and most others in Seminyak) is occupied mostly buy couples and families and probably isn't the best choice for your average solo traveler. However, I'm used to solo travel for business and was able to quickly make friends with other hotel guests.In summary: great property in great location that can be booked at a great value. Highly recommended.

"Relaxing wonderful stay"

This was our second trip to Bali but the first trip was 12 years ago so much has changed. The Royal Beach Seminyak is an excellent hotel, beautiful grounds, very nice beach pool and very good service. The hotel is on the beach in Seminyak about 30 minutes in normal traffic from the airport. The beach is great for swimming and surfing but the sand color is dark and the water is not very clear so if you want go snorkeling, you will have to arrange a trip to another part of the island. We were a little put off by trash on the beach but the hotel does a good job of cleaning it up it seemed to be less noticeable the second and third days were were there. The beach has a very long gradual slope so it is possible to walk out quite a distance from shore. The hotel has secluded villas that appear to be very nice for a family or group but we stayed in a hotel room near the reception. None of the rooms or villas have an ocean view, which we would have liked, but we settled on this hotel based on a recommendation from a friend and web site reviews. We were not disappointed. The breakfast is excellent. The meals we had at the hotel were very good and reasonably priced. We made two side trips during our stay, one to Ubud, the artist town/community just north of Denpasar and the second was the evening dinner cruise. We recommend both.

"Relaxed Beachfront"

Just had a 8 day and 7 night stay at The Royal Beach. It was the most relaxed peaceful week I have had in many years of staying in hotels throughout Indonesia. The staff are attentive yet very aware of leaving you alone at the same time.The grounds and pool area's are very good and the room I stayed in was excellent. Included in the room was Wifi for free which was a welcome change from most of the better brand hotels in Bali. Location wise there is a local supermarket a few hundred metres away and all the well known restraurants are only a few minutes away. The property is directly on to the beach. Walk to your left about 300 metres when you hit the beach and you will find a few beach bars that are great for sunset drinks and food. I will definitely stay again when I come back with my fussy wife and family.

"AS ALWAYS"

This is our second stay at the Royal and it will not be our last......it has everything we desire.The Gym facilities meet our needs, the service is is well within our expectations, the staff are friendly,courteious,happy and helpful.It is situated within walking distance of all of our favourite eating/shopping venues and is a great pleace to hide away from the hussle and the bustle when the time comes....we do find the cost of the food and drinks a bit more than we choose to pay, so we eat else where except breakfast which sets us up for the day anyway......worth the extra dollars....
