"Ibis budget hotel in Alexanderplatz"
7th March 2013, 0visitor, Brussels, Belgium
Hotel has a good location and excellent public transport connections. Room was spacious and clean. I did not have breakfast in the hotel, so I can not say anything about it. Hotel is suitable for busy people.
"Not bad, but a bit far"

Positive - the room was extra clean and modern, even though kind of soulless. Negative - I really disliked the neighbourhood (Alex), 1970-s communist architecture, all buldings look alike. Walking to subway or TGX bus stop takes up to 20 minutes (but you can take tram from the street corner as well). For some reason, the hotel doesn't accept AClub vouchers. The reception was empty most of the time (at least each time I came back or left the hotel I didn't see anyone begind the reception desk).

Excellent value for money, though basic. Location ideal for use of exemplary public transport facilities. I found the staff friendly and efficient. When I commented on the inadequate supply of soap, this was rectified immediately.

"Good budget stay"

Before booking this hotel we toyed with the Ibis Styles Alexanderplatz but decided that we could put up with a basic hotel as it meant we would save £160 over the 5 nights. We are glad we did!The hotel was no where near as basic as I expected - it was really modern and felt very secure. The room locks being keypads with entry codes were a lovely touch as it made us feel very safe. Checking in was efficient - I can't say the gentleman booking us in was very welcoming but he did the job and gave us our room number and keypad code and within a couple of minutes we were in the room.We stayed in room 332 which was at the end of the corridor on the 3rd floor and overlooking the Mercedes-Benz Bank building so was over looked by office staff during the day but we used the black out blind so this was not a problem. The view was uninspiring but I preferred this as it was quiet. The floor was non smoking but the lift did smell smoky on some occasions. We can't comment on breakfast as we did not have it due to it being 7.5 Euros each - it was a lot cheaper for us to get breakfast on the go. We liked the lighting of the room. We had a control panel above our heads on the bed (which I did knock occasionally) and this controlled the main lights, reading lights and the lighting around the dado rail (fairy lights) which we really liked. The bathroom situation was exactly as described on here previously - a separate loo (although it was quite small so no real way you could use it as a dressing room) and then the shower which was part of the main room with a frosted glass door. The one thing I noticed was that the position of the mirror meant that if you were sitting on the bed and looked at the mirror you could see into the shower. This didn't bother us as we are partners but some may be put off by it.The location of the hotel was fab. Annoyingly as we arrived we realised that the tram was not running for a week so we had to lug our suitcases to the hotel on foot. We thought this would be a nightmare but even with suitcases it only took 10 minutes. Without the suitcases and when we realised the best route, we were walking from Alexanderplatz to the hotel in about 5 minutes. The longest part was waiting for the Ampelmann on the traffic lights to change to green so we could cross! The transport connections from the hotel are fabulous if the transport is running! We would certainly stay at the hotel again and will recommend it to others.
"Excellent hotel choice"

If you want value for money, good location, clean room this is the place to stay. Trams stop right outside hotel and it is only 5 - 10 min walk to Alexanderplatz, a hub for travel options. Hotel reception open all hours and staff helpful. When I checked out they kept my case in a locked room until I returned later to pick it up.
"excellent location"

We, my wife and I, stayed in Etap Hotel Alexanderplatz between 01 and 07 Sept 2012. The location of hotel is excellent. Can you imagine that Tram M-4, M-5 and M-6 is working to Alexander Platz in front of hotel in every 4-5 minutes and then you will be in Alexander Platz within 5-7 minutes. However, I have to say that very sad noise was coming from faucets of sink and shower when other residents use in their rooms or we use them in our own room. Other important point was that no fork available at the breakfast buffet.
"Great value"

ETAP Berlin is a brand new hotel and for a Low budget type, you get what you pay for. Very clean and with a nice localization (2 blocks from Alexanderplatz). A great Wi-fi connection totally free is as good as you could ask. Nearby you have a bakery, a small market and a great restaurant: Las Malvinas with very nice steaks. I'd stay there again for sure.
"Excellent hotel, good value"

This hotel concept works! Simple but with all the essentials, easy to use and easy to keep it clean. Trams right outside the entrance, 5 minutes' walk to Alexanderplatz where one can find many restaurants and shopping possibilites. Only one thing missing: shampoo.
"A good hotel"
19th July 2012, frequenttripper_7, Cheshire England
We stayed for four nights during July 2012. The hotel is very modern with generous spaces and new undamaged furniture and furnishing. It is located a short walk from Alexanderplatz at a road junction. Outside the door are tram stops with four tram routes. We had a Berlin Card (ABC) and used public transport to get all over Berlin and Potsdam. The Berlin transport is still based on the old divided city so a Berlin Card saves all the trouble of buying tickets. The room we had (403) looked out onto the road junction so the view was interesting. The sound insulation was very good. The room was reasonably spacious for a budget hotel. The TV was fine - though only 3 English Language channels - all news as usual. The lighting was excellent and the bed comfortable. Unfortunately its mattress protector produced squeaky noises at unfortunate moments and some sweatiness. There were no bedside tables or shelves which meant glasses, books etc had to be put on the floorThe bathroom was big enough with an excellent shower - wet room style. Here again no shelves and a small washbasin so nowhere to put washbags. Those designers and their lack of storage provision again!Excellent lifts. Pleasant breakfast room and a very good choice of food at the breakfast bar - four cereals, a variety of breads, meats, jams, fruit etc.The reception staff were pleasant and helpful and breakfast room staff kept the breakfast bar stocked up. The staff recommended a very good steak house (though the menu had a wide choice) around 60 metres from the hotel. Very good reasonable food (Las Malvinas). We can thoroughly recommend this hotel in the less expensive category.

Good choice if you don't want to spend too much and have 3 lines of tram going to Alexanderplatz in your front door.
"Good value for money"

The staff is excellent, the whole hotel installation is new and the price is in accordance with the simple (but sophisticated) facilities of the hotel. The proximity to Alexanderplatz makes all the difference. I recommend this hotel with praise.
