"Be careful of special price deals"
21st May 2012, schwarz36, Sydney
It's usual when taking up a special price offer that a hotel will give you their least popular rooms - so this hotel is no exception. If you have luggage to carry you may find yourself in one of the rooms with no lift/elevator access and many stairs (and no staff to assist with this luggage), this happens to me at this hotel when taking advantage of accor special price offers (which they offer you by email), but does not when I book at full price. It's a tiny slap in the face when you might well have stayed elsewhere - a kind of anti-loyalty program! Recommended, just, with these provisos.

"Restful Return after Renovations"
10th May 2012, Expectans_expectavi, Perth
I arrived at 10.30 pm to a friendly welcome and took the freshly carpeted walk to my superior king overlooking the car park autumnal trees and houses. It was quiet and had a balcony with chairs. The two new alarm clock devices were too tricky for me to set, so I wisely rang for a wake-up call. This seemed gentle, but not needed. I had managed to set one of the alarms to an earlier time, but don't know how! I came with warm bed clothes and tried the air con on full warm. Noisy at night, but not in the day. I didn't need it or the extra blanket in any case. The tea and biscuits provided added to the good mood with good television. Shower room floor tiles cold in the morning before air con reached there. Toiletries seemed pleasant, however I had my own because the previous All Seasons ones smelled synthetic.Restaurant Breakfast overlooking the central garden was welcome at $16.50 discounted with Advantage Plus. The scrambled eggs were wholesome - a fairly rare thing. Mushrooms and hash browns enjoyable. Sausages and bacon a little greasy for me, but not bad. Used a free guest computer for flight check-in in the sunny business centre. Reception staff particularly nice with some lovely elderly guests and had time for a chat with them.A very pleasant , relaxed return. Just too short!
"Lovely hotel, exceptional friendly staff"
9th May 2012, Gimmeabreak_mum, Sydney, Australia
Lovely old style hotel with renovated rooms, new TVs etc. Clean quiet & comfy. The staff were very friendly & accomodating. Drinks at the hotel bar were lovely by the fireplace, however closed a little early for a Saturday night for our liking, but it was very quiet. Staff were always happy to offer service & made us feel very welcome. Loved the atmosphere of the hotel, & the customer service excellent. Will stay again.

Everything was fine, pillows good, towels were lovely - thick and big. Shower was nice. Bedside lights really good. Only 2 things, the exhaust fan in the bathroom is very noisy and perhaps too big for the bathroom, and while the room was cleaned every day the sink was not. Best to do the sink too. Tea bags not replenished. Also loved the log fires. they were very nice. Would be good to have a gym room - perhaps this is being planned in the refurb? I did go out jogging though. Plenty of scope for that though the cold might put some people off going out.
"Overnight Stay"

"Great Break Away"

We had a wonderful coupleof days at the hotel - great facilities, great restaurant. Staff were most helpful. Ideal location fort most activities in Canberra.
"Sense of history in garden setting"
26th April 2012, hawdownunder, Sydney
The hotel takes pride in its history as an early Canberra hotel and more recent additions are in keeping with the original building with many rooms looking onto charming gardens. Rooms located above the bar/lounge are noisy, so specify quiet , if you are not a 'party animal'. Staff are helpful. The restaurant is now open for dinner which is a plus as is free parking. The hotel is close to major sights and the City Centre.
"Best bargain in Canberra"
26th April 2012, Les M, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia
Recently stayed at the Mercure in Canberra. Slightly out of the way so you need a car..but almost everyone drives to Canberra anyway so should not be a problem. Room was great and we were upgraded. Hotel is an old inn that has been completely renovated and very comfortable. Staff very professional and friendly. And very inexpensive for an expensive city. They are installing a gym shortly (important to me) so I highly recommend it as great value for the dollar.
"Standard Room Mercure"
25th April 2012, PDiablo, Sydney, Australia
Room was ok size for single traveller. Bathroom was small with no room around basin to place toiletries. Not much leg room in front of throne. Noises from neighbouring rooms could be heard also such as plumbing and walking on floorboards in upstairs room.
"Needs a face lift"
20th April 2012, abimax, Sydney
The reception and front of house need refurbishment. There is no lift and I had to carry bags from the carpark at the back of the hotel and up and down stairs. The room it self was pleasant. But not a good choice for business travellers.

"easter weekend"
14th April 2012, 13sue1313, Sydney, Australia
the room was clean, the bed comfortable & it was quiet. Our key failed to work on the second day which meant a trek with parcels up and down stairs and corridors to the reception area. The staff were always helpful and friendly.
"our experience"
13th April 2012, Wollongong
We spent 3 nights at Mercure Canberra with my husband, Daughter ( 8 ) and mwaaah. Very good position not far from shops or takeaway. We would definitely stay there again, good for familys or couples on a break. Staff are soooo helpful we couldn't ask for more THUMBS UP for this hotel !!!!!!!!!!!!
"Canberra weekend at Mercure"
13th April 2012, sophy200, Sydney, Australia
Liked the old world style of the hotel, it was near war memorial which was part of our trip and easy to get to art gallery, other reason for trip. The rooms were quiet, comfortable and clean overlooking courtyard gardens and parking at rear so no noise from guests coming and going. Courtyard Dining room good for dinner and breakfast but found continental breadfast overpriced. Bistro food OK but a bit noisy which was to be expected as it was a pub atmosphere. Staff were good whenever encountered.
"the olims"
12th April 2012, Sydney, Australia
I think the olims is value plus, centrally located with plenty of parking, close to the shops and the food is excellent
"Good value in Canberra"
9th April 2012, luckylegsSydney, Sydney
Not far from the City Centre, this hotel is one of the better value hotels in Canberra. It's an older style but refurbished hotel and has that comfortable feel. We had a loft room which was nicely furnished, but a little disfunctional in that the only bathroom is on the upper level in the sleeping area. It would be nice to have a small bathroom downstairs as well. There was no TV on the upper level, however this may be a one off, as there were signs that one could have been there prior - perhaps being replaced. I didn't ask as it wasn't important to me. They appeared to be working on parts of the hotel while we were there, so it will probably improve further.
"Bad night sleep"
7th April 2012, Melbourne, Australia
We used our free night at the Mercure Canberra, but we were given the smallest room over the beer garden with flood lights on all night. Our sleep was effected and curtains didn't help much. If we had to pay for this room l would have been very disappointed. I would have thought that we pay to be in the Accor Advantage Plus we should have been given a better room. If you want to keep customer in Accor Advantage Plus, you should make sure each customer has a good experience. Not a negative one.
"Our stay at Mercure Hotel Canberra"

The hotel was centrally located for the places we visited. We enjoyed the friendly layout and personal attention and found breakfast and dinner to be excellent meals. We will return!

"Pleasant return to an old favourite hotel"
2nd April 2012, Parramatta NSW Sydney
Refurbishment of rooms excellent - and old classic hotel in good hands; an ideal hotel for a visit to the National Capital.
"Excellent restful night"
31st March 2012, Sydney, Australia
Excellent ,quiet location within walking distance to Civic Shopping Centre and War Memorial. Large free car park. Since the refurbishment all rooms are very comfortable. We stay in Canberra 4 to 5 times a year on business and have always found the staff helpful and friendly and the hotel quiet for a good night's sleep. Breakfast use to be included in the room price but is not anymore which is a bit annoying. Wish they would use that option again as it makes checking out much easier when there are no extra costs to check on the account.
"Mercure Canberra"
30th March 2012, Sydney
This historical hotel has been renovated beautifully. It is in an ideal location within easy reach of all Canberra's main attractions - some in walking distance. It is very quiet, parking is not a problem and the room we recently stayed in was spacious with a comfortable settee and had all we could possibly need.
"A lovely hotel in Canberra"
30th March 2012, Brisbane, Australia
Olims is just delightful, whilst it has been modernised it still retains its old world charm.Staff are helpful and attentiveRooms large and airy with a balcony to enjoy fresh air with a cup of tea.Beds are just sooooo comfortableMy room overlooked the rear carpark and was very quiet even on Saturday night
"Nice hotel overall"
29th March 2012, Sydney, Australia
Hotel is well located to the Lake and is in a quiet area. Older style hotel but comfortable, easy free parking. Reception staff were good, but not keen to help out with our checking problem, but issue was resolved well. Room we were in was on small side and previously had stayed in this hotel and had bigger room. Room was comfortable and clean and had all facilties needed. Over all pleasant stay and would go back.
