"Good option - likely to stay again"
18th September 2013, MrsKMc, Bendigo, Australia
Pros: Location, refurbished rooms, service, priceCons: I stayed Saturday night and there was a lot of noise in the corridor - other guests coming home at all hours of the night. Another night might be better. I'd definitely stay again because it was a good room, location and price. The noise was annoying and I don't think I'd stay another saturday night. Mid-week might be better??

the staff were absolutely wonderful, very helpful and accommodating. we stayed in a disabled room, the extra space and handrails etc were very helpful, but the tiles in the bathroom when wet were slippery..need to work on that. also the shower pressure was poor and the temp adjust was impossible. other than that we couldn't have been happier.
"Good for Short stays"
12th September 2013, Wallace1122
The refurbished room that we were in was clean, very quiet and had a comfortable bed. The room itself is a good size and the bathroom just big enough but the fridge was a bit hard to get to being in the wardrobe. Location is great. There are allot of hallways to get to your room but once your used to it it's fine.
"Location location but brickbats to paid luggage storage"
9th September 2013, travelsmartiess, Brisbane, Australia
Great central location, convenient to all CBD facilities including Regent Theatre for "King Kong" (also highly recommended). Star Bus dropped off and picked up at hotel for airport transfers. Friendly staff at Alice's Restaurant (only 20% discount for Advantage Plus members) -- but poor food, over-salted and obviously re-heated, you can do better elsewhere nearby including David Jones Food Hall if you want to self-cater. Great room and bathroom amenities, larger rooms than custom-built Ibis -- undoubtedly because converted from a stately century-old Melbourne hotel (fascinating history, detailed in a book in the room). No view -- but a window, room air-con and lots of natural light. BRICKBAT -- paid luggage storage on departure day, with $5 minimum for coin-operated locker. Mean and unreasonable especially when you've got only one carry-on and have just paid for a 7-night stay. Have only encountered this once before worldwide -- and that was Ibis Kings Wharf in Sydney. Boo, Ibis!!

Location was great and great for those on a budget. The rooms were clean, bathroom clean, bed comfy. Hallways a bit less maintained. Staff were friendly and available, no waiting. You have to pay to store luggage while waiting to check in which I had heard about and the system seems to work, the lockers were safe and it was an easy process to use machines except I carried my bags to reception, then carried them to the lockers, only to find out you can only use coins so I had to get my bags again and go back to reception, get change, then back to lockers. Would be good to have this info upfront as part of the service. Overall good for a short trip as the room I was in was small and functional but not for lounging around.

Staff were friendly. Great location, easy walking distance to all Melbourne locations including the Queen Victoria Markets and the MCG etc. Rooms were clean, a tad small then the pictures, but doable for one person. Only lost marks for the sleep quality as the people in the rooms next to me made a lot of noise when they arrived back at 4am knocking and bannging on each others doors, which i know would be beyond the hotel's control, otherwise i think my sleep would have been fine.I would definitely stay here whenever I am back in melbourne

The stay at The Victoria Hotel was decent although it looks slightly dated. However, during my period of stay, renovation works are in progress but am glad it did not hinder or affect my stay very much. The location of this hotel is just great and walking to anywhere within the CBD area will not take up too much time. I just had a bad experience in the bathroom, as I was adjusting the blinds for the window, it suddenly fell down and luckily it did not hit me. The reception did a pretty good job with fixing it up the next day though.
"location was great, air con problem"
1st September 2013, timetorelex, Sydney, Australia
Location for this hotel was great some staff are friendly while others are not. Once I arrived I was glad my room was ready by 1pm. I have to open the window even though i can hear a bit of noise from early morning delivery for restaurants near by. Throughout my stay once i arrive the aircon was not getting cooler at all. The next morning I went to reception explained about my aircon not getting cooler. Everything was followed up great. I came back to my room at around 3.30pm assuming the aircon is fixed, no sign on the door. My key didn't worked went back down to reception to reprogrammed the key. Once I open the door the two maintenance staff still working on the aircon and they failed to put the sign up on the door saying maintenance in process which shock me as a 4 star standard plus not happy I found them using my iPhone charger to charge they iPhone while they are fixing the aircon. They should not be using any hotel guest phone charger or should not have they personal iPhone/mobile phone in a view of a hotel guest while working unless it is duty manager, manager on duty or general manager. Advice how long they said 30 mins. Then I went out again for a while, then at 4.15pm I went to reception and asked them if they have finished and he told me not yet another 30mins since he saw them outside gathering for a smoke which staff should only do on a break not on a regular base like every 20 - 40 mins I was disappointed so I went to the bar for a while for some drinks. At the end just before 5pm they manage to fixed it and it was getting cooler. Room was neat and clean but should at least keep the skirting board clean from dusts and wall free from black marks. If you go to the pool or gym area you must bring your own towels from the room since they do not have an area for towels in the pool and gym area.Overall I am not sure if I want to come back again still thinking about it. Prices are reasonable and cheap for these who don't want to pay over $200. It good for 1 - 2 nights not for 3 or more nights.
"Great stay. Thanks alot"
17th August 2013
Thanks for a great stay. From the moment we arrived the staff were fantastic, especially Joe Arslanian in the valet parking. He made my wife and I so welcome from the outset and was willing to help in any way.Our only problem with the stay was the renovations being done on the third floor were noisy during the day. We had had a late night the day previous and were hopeful for a sleep in but we both understand that modifications need to be made.
