Staff are great - nothing is too much trouble. As a rule I’ll always choose a Novotel and have always enjoyed the facilities here at Reading - only complaint is how warm the rooms are and that there is no ability to adjust this at all…

We arrived after a 4 hour train journey to reception where we were greeted by reception. I was head to toe in 40 banners tiaras badges you name it and not one happy birthday or upgrade even tho we had pre requested on booking if there were availability as it was a special occasion reception had admitted it was exceptionally quiet!!! We went down to restaurant where staff were unfriendly and unattentive! Food was totally unacceptable, it was cold the sauce for the nachos was like water we had to ask if they had any guacamole or some extra cheese we could add for some taste to her reply sorry we don’t!! Steak and sides were stone cold only the chips came out hot!! No steak knifes offered no sauces etc etc After I mentioned to the waiter my food was un eatable he did however bring me an alternative which was much better and our meals were adjusted according on our payment. The room however was comfortable. A little cramped for 3 adults but we managed as it was only for an evening. Breakfast however we were greeted by a wonderful waitress from Hungary who couldn’t have been more attentive if she tried she greeted us with a big warm welcome and couldn’t have done more for us that morning!! Novotel you really must work on your welcoming of guests and attentiveness. First impressions are everything!!
