Management responseDear GuestThank you for staying with us and for taking the time to give us your very positive comments about your experience. As you have mentioned we are completing an upgrade of our buffet and we are pleased that this work has improved this facility for our guests. There is still some work to complete but we are confident that our breakfasts will now not only offer a wide range of food for our guests but also look good. Additions to the buffet include a range of international dishes, whole salmon and we are working to include a large selection of local dishes while making sure that the selection changes daily.A number of other changes in the Hotel are certainly getting favourable comments from our guests and we hope that you will return soon to enjoy thees changes alsoRegardsJim MooreGeneral Manager

"Second visit to Queenstown and the Lakeside Novotel"
14th May 2012, Grace747, Sydney, Australia
Overall experience of staying in your Hotel was good. Breakfast staff were excellent. Staff at front desk were polite but did not explain $150 processing of credit charge for "possible" costs properly. We arrived late at night, very tired and thought that credit charge was cost of car parking fees for 3 days. Why was this "possible" costs charged when we have stayed at many Novotels in Australia without this charge being made "in advance"? Unit was rather small in comparison with all the other units/apartments we stayed at in Motels at Te Anau, Dunedin and Christchurch for a much lesser cost!!!!

Management responseDear Grace 747Thanks for staying with us a second time - we appreciate it when our guests come back to us.The amount that you mention was charged to your creditcard is actually a depoist "hold" which is done as a pre authorisation on a credit card - it is actually not a charge and this hold drops off your account automatically a day or two after you check out with us. This is actually a credit card facility and not some thing that the Hotel has developed. The Hotel has standard hotel rooms that are not similar to motels and apartments - being a fully catered "hotel" and being in the best location in Queenstown we believe we offer excellent value for money and are very proud of our offerings. Being the largest and possibly busiest Hotel in Queenstown suggests that others believe the same and we work hard to try to look after all of our guests. Thanks again for staying - we do hope that you will get an opportunity to return again soonKind regardsJim MooreGeneral Manager

"$99 a night is excellent value"
6th May 2012, debcol25, Wellington, New Zealand
My partner and I went to Queenstown for 2 nights and stayed at Novotel Queenstown Lakeside. As Accor members we only paid $99 per night and it was excellent value. It is in a fantastic location and we participated in happy hour with reduced drinks, an OK buffet breakfast, a very enjoyable dinner and a lovely antipasto platter for lunch looking out over the pretty autumn garden. The service was friendly and we would definetly stay there again.
"Excellent value"

And with the added bonus of a $20 voucher. Ideal situation in Queenstown. Great spa as well, a very relaxing break.
"perfect location perfect views"
4th May 2012, salznz, auckland nz
We recently stayed for 4 nights at Queenstowns Novotel, as we were two females I emailed them to see if we could be put on a upper floor for safety reasons, with no problem they did it and continued to be pleasent and helpful for the rest of the stay. We could not of had a better view from our balcony as we looked out over the town and lake and of course the mountains. Our room was lovely, very clean, very comfortable and with very nice decor, (and great photos on the walls). We will certainly return to this hotel and would recommend others to try it. :)
"Need New Pillows!"
26th April 2012, Bags1007, Wanaka, New Zealand
The Bed was great, but they seriously need to replace their pillows, they are so flat we may as well just slept on the mattress! Our room at night was a little noisey with late night parties going on by the lake, rooms facing towards the park are a lot more quiet. Staff were very friendly and helpful, pus the location is wonderful so central to everything.

Our apologies if you did not enjoy the in room pillows, if we had been made aware of this we would of let you know about our fabulous pillow menu available where you can select your pillow type of choice and have this delivered to your room. We look forward to welcoming you back to Novotel Queenstown Lakeside.

"Close to town"
25th April 2012, tpimrie, Napier, New Zealand
Great for walking to town.( You should be grateful I am doing this instead of making me fill in repeat opinions, already stated above.)
"poor restaurant service"
24th April 2012, Stasma, Christchurch, New Zealand
This is an average to nice hotel, let down by a poor example of restaurant service by the duty front of house person on the evening we stayed. We had intended to dine at the hotel restaurant, We reviewed the menu which had typical fare at slightly above prices you would expect to pay however when we asked for a table the guy asked us to take a seat in the lounge downstairs and he would come and get us within 10 minutes when one was available. When I looked around there were already several spare tables however I didn't argue as I assumed these may have been reserved. After 15 minutes waiting and a good number of people had left and no sign of the fellow we moved on and found some excellent restaurants in town with superb service and food.
"Best location"
22nd April 2012, aiemiti, Timaru, New Zealand
Very convenient location. Walk to the lake. About few minutes walk to almost everything in Quennstown city -- cafes, shops, activities. Nice, modern hotel. Only the bathroom is quite small, the bathup is too small to relax.
"Not as Advertised"
20th April 2012, W0rkHardPlayHarder77, Ashburton New Zealand
Novotel Queenstown was merely a bed for the night for us. We booked a what was thought to be superior suite for a relaxing peaceful few days. Hearing every sound next door and in the hallways, and a hand drill operating against the wall next door on our last days 'peace' in the morning was far from our expectations. Aslo had to request three times before checkout day that we required a late checkout...somehow it still didn't get processed and the same employee that 'forgot' to process had the cheek to lock us out of room while we were out enjoying queenstown, no phome call or anything to advise or question. All in all not the hotel advertised to be, however only our experience, your stay may be different : )On a positive note fantastic location.
"Great location for neat hotel"
18th April 2012, hamilton
If you are going to QUeenstown Lakeside is the perfect place to stay. The hotel is very clean tidy and smartly presented. It is at one end of Queenstown and as soon as you cross the road you are in some very quaint modern restaurants and shops and if you continue walking you will end up in the middle of the mall. Going left 50m from the main door will take you to the lakes edge and a lovely stroll either through the bush or along the QUeenstown "quay". would stay there again.

Management responseDear GuestThank you for your stay with us at Novotel Queenstown and your great comments. As mentioned, Novotel's location is central, perfectly situated on the lakefront and in-town. Our apologies that our breakfast was not up to our normal high standards when you dined and I have passed your comments on to our chef to share with his team and focus on. We are currently undergoing a full refurbishment of our breakfast buffet with the goal to have this finished in the next week. This new vibrant buffet area will allow us to offer an even wider range of breakfast delights as well as having a live cooking station where guests can speak with our chef and order their eggs just the way they like. We look forward to welcoming you back to Novotel Queenstown in the future so you can experience it yourself.

"Queenstown NZ"
16th April 2012
Travelling with 3 young children - this hotel was very kid-friendly. Very happy with all aspects of the 5 days stay. Very friendly staff - always ready to help and advise. Location fantastic - walking distance to everything in Queenstown and great access to the park, gardens and lake.
"Great location! Shame about the noise..."
16th April 2012, mmodlt
Novotel Queenstown is perfectly positioned in the centre of the town adjacent to the magnificent botanical gardens. Cross the road from the hotel and you are immediately walking though the laneways containing restaurants and shops. Very clean rooms and staff generally friendly. A lot of noise in corridors if rowdy guests in-house. Street noise could also be a problem on a busy night. Woken a couple of times by people outside. Good value hotel especially if you can grab a deal on the Accor website. I would stay here again for the location and value for money. If you want something flashier, though, look elsewhere.
"Good Experience"
11th April 2012, Dunedin
The location was fantastic - being able to walk all around Queenstown, and the high quality of the hotel was very enjoyable. Disappointed that the jacuzzi was not working when we were staying. But overall a good experience, would do it again. The night staff didn't seem to know where free parking was available, even though it was only 2 minutes walk away.
"Overnight stay en route to Southland"
11th April 2012, Port Macquarie, Australia
Most comfortable and everyone was most helpful. The only problem was that my Telstra Next G phone would not work at the location of the hotel and it did so in other parts of Queenstown!
"Great location - minutes away from action! Excellent view from the room"
10th April 2012, Gurgaon
We stayed in a 2 Double bed Lakeview room - and had no complaints about it. The view was awesome and so was the location of the hotel from all the action around. We are well travelled folks so the only element of surprise was 2 interconnecting doors in our room. We were quite concerned about the noise factor from neighbouring rooms, but grace of god, we were spared that. Service levels were fine, however, at breakfast time, there used to be chaos in the restraunt as half the things in buffet needed to be replenished. Rest everything was great. Would definitely recommend this hotel to people as its better placed with a better view, proximity to action and nice walking track along the lake. Much better than the other side of the beach parade where other big hotels are placed

Service was excellent as cleanliness, location and a great nights sleep. The only thing I wasnt so happy about was the dinner menu. I had battered fish and it wasnt too good and it was greasy. But cant wait to go back to the hotel and stay again.
"Magnificient views of the lake."
4th April 2012, Morrinsville, New Zealand
Our stay in Queenstown was very relaxing and enjoyable. The staff were superb and extremely helpful. The hotel is situated in the perfect spot as it is so close to the town and nice walks to the garden. We were lucky to get the perfect room with an amazing view of the lake. The only comment would be having to eat our breakfast by 10 00 am meant we couldn't have a lie in and a walk before breakfast as we like to do on holiday. We might have booked room only if we had known as I missed breakfast a couple of times.
"Highly Recommended for 1st time visitor"
4th April 2012, Singapore, Singapore
Location : Very Central - walking distance to Mall, eataries, Tour information centre and lakeside. Highly recommended for 1st time vistor to Queenstown.
"Great spot at Novotel Lakeside"
1st April 2012, Melbourne, Australia
Great spot beside the lake and on one edge of town. An easy town to walk around so this was a convenient spot. Arriving late, we booked into the restaurant for dinner. Were pleasantly surprised by the large number of guests using the restaurant. Great food & service. Wines in NZ are expensive but very good. Breakfast at the hotel was also excellent and extensive. There is a $20 charge for valet parking of your vehicle on site. You are not to use the hotel car park yourself. However, retreival of your car is prompt. Front desk check-in was done with minimal fuss by a cheery receptionist. We would definitely stay here again.
"Perfect location"
31st March 2012, Port Douglas, Australia
Queenstown has many lovely hotels but we could not have been happier with our choice of. the Novatel. Position, position, position. A short walk to all of the wonderful cafes restaurants and shops in the mall area. The staff were very helpful with any of our requests during our stay. A small complaint would be that wine prices in the restaurant were high considering that they are locally produced wines that can be purchased very cheaply in the supermarkets.
"Great location"
31st March 2012, Sue Russell K, Wauchope, New South Wales, Australia
The location of this hotel is great - in easy walking distance to the shops and attractions. The shops are open until late at night even on a Sunday which is great for wandering around. The hotel rose garden goes directly to the lakefront. Cheaper rooms don't have a good view but still very comfortable and didn't spend a lot of time in the room anyway. Parking is not included in the price and is $10 a day in the public car park one block over. We weren't aware of this when we booked. Internet is free in the lobby only, not in the rooms. Very helpful person at the tourist information kiosk in the lobby.
"Queenstown Novatel"
30th March 2012, Wanaka
Loved the location. It was a quick and easy walk to the centre of town where all the shops and cafes are. Bed was super comfortable and spacious. Would go back again.
