"Great getaway hotel"

My wife and I spent the weekend at the Mercure, and we were not disappointed. We have stayed at many of the large chain hotels in Quito, but this one was the best so far. The price was also much more reasonable for the same service and room quality. Our suite had a living space and separate bedroom environment.I took a star off for service because they charge what I think is an excessive additional amount for internet access. In this day and age, internet access should always be free. On the other hand, the cable TV included a lot of extra movie channels that you don't always find in hotels. Also, the flat screen TV was nice. Otherwise the staff were excellent and prompt. They even spoke English to us, though we didn't need them to. I didn't give five stars for sleep quality because the hotel is located in a very lively part of town. If we had been on a lower floor, the noise from the bars and night clubs would have been a serious problem. Definitely request as high a floor as possible.Overall we had an excellent experience and will definitely be returning for our next retreat.

Stayed in the hotel for 3 nights, short trip to see the UNESCO World Heritage Site - colonial Quito.Location in between the old and new town, sort of in the middle of nowhere. Expensive internet for 15 USD per day, front desk staff having an attitude problem (my Accor club number was not entered and they had an issue typing it in). Not knowledgeable about the tourist attractions, they misled me about the opening of the teleferiQo, but again, cannot expect much for the price.

My friend and I had a great stay at this hotel and would highly recommend it to anyone who looks for comfort and cleanliness and a high quality of service from staff. Only a couple of small comments on how the experience could be improved: the lounge suite in my room could have been cleaner (it looked like someone may have slept on it the night before with a few grease spots here and there) and the phones and remote did not work.

The staff at the Mercure Grand do their best to ensure that patrons are comfortable in their surroundings. We got penthouse suites to accommodate visits from local friends during the day. The lobby had been completely and beautifully renovated since my last visit. The front desk staff speak English and were very courteous.

This is my second stay at this hotel. Got an updated room on the 6th floor on the side facing the street. The street noise can be heard to the room. The rooms and Bathrooms are updated air-conditioned and the King beds with 6 pillows are very comfortable. The hotel reception, restaurant and room service is very good. Ask for a room on a higher floor and on the opposite side of the street. My last stay was on the opposite side of the street on the 6th floor and was noise free and very comfortable. The hotel has a good casino, bar and restaurant facilities. There is a mini bar (beer, coca cola and water) in the rooms and chips and chocolates on top of the mini bar. Check prices of the mini bar items, I paid $6.00! for a half size can of Pringles chips. The hotel is in a secure location very close to a Police station. Hotel has good security and is a $5.00 (Yes, Five Dollars) ride by taxi to the airport. Wireless Internet is good and is charged at $3.00 per hour or $ 14.00 for 24 hours. Underground parking is free. A free bottle of water is given daily. I would highly recommend this hotel. I will stay there again on my next visit.
"MERCURE DOES NOT HOLD RESERVATIONS"

We made a reservation online, gave a credit card and received a confirmation email from Accor for the reservation. When we get there, the hotel says the reservation was not held because it was not paid for prior to arrival, which is rediculous. The manager and employees did nothing to help find another hotel.On top of that, it is very noisy on the lower floors, a previous trip the heat and internet did not work properly. Stay at your own risk.
