A well-located comfortable stopover for few days en-route to Galapagos for us,a mature age couple. Front desk staff friendly & helpful, & enough English between them always to get by. For not much extra the executive rooms[ on the top floor] have spacious useable balconies and spectacular views , or the suites [on 2nd floor] very spacious & well appointed[though some street noise here if you leave windows/balcony doo. No AC in rooms[suspect same applies to other Quito hotels also] -not a problem given mild climate due to altitude, but pedestal fans available on request & worked fine. Restaurant surprisingly good cusine-tasty, well-priced ,spicy French "fusion" cusine, + Japanese options ,& enough affordable drinkable local wine options to get by if you didn't want to be too fussy-apparently popular venue for well-heeled locals & businesspeople .Tried few of recommended restaurants in Old town & elsewhere, but unless you're heavily into blood sausage or goat stew[local delicacies apparently] hardly worth the effort of venturing elsewhere during a a short stay. During stay partner was involved in a minor traffic accident few KM from hotel resulting in broken ankle and other injuries-to our amazement the Hotel's afternoon supervisor Louis Flores, who fortunately spoke good English[as well as French & Spanish ]miraculously appeared at the local hospital shortly after us & devoted the rest of his shift + a few more hours besides, to assisting. The police were very eager to transfer my partner to the local jail that same night, despite her injuries, until responsibility for the incident could be legally apportioned through the court system. Indeed this was the fate of the unfortunate bus driver also involved,& this would certainly have been her fate without his help. He actually seemed to appreciate the opportunity to be able to utilise his[not inconsiderable ] initiative, negotiating ,& diplomatic skills, not to mention panache, in resolving this situation experienced by his guests in our favour despite many obstacles ,& spent lengthy periods commuting between the hotel /hospital/police facilities on a very cold night [when he was clearly suffering from a bad cold himself], talking to police and hospital staff etc.,despite no doubt having plenty of other work to do. As a final gesture, he ensured our efficacous & comfortable transfer to the airport for our onward flight by making the relatively spacious hotel courtesy bus available for this purpose

The hotel itself is perfect: excellent location, big and clean room, nice and helpful staff. I just don't rate it 5 stars for two reasons. - Breakfast is too expensive for what it offers. It is not bad at all, but I stayed in other 2 hotels in Quito before and breakfast was superior, specially in offer of local food. - When I checked out I used Club Accor vouchers for paying part of my stay. These vouchers are in Euro and the hotel used a rate of only 1.03 dollar per euro, whereas the quotation of the day was at 1.18. I don't think that was honest. Other than that, no complaints!

The Alameda Hotel has excellent and prompt customer service, nothing is too much trouble. They also have a 24 hour bistro which includes local cuisine. It is definitely one of the best places to stay in Quito.

Hotel is well located and servisse is very good. Room window permited some noise but the city is not that noise. Bar servisse was lower than expectec and restaurant seems not to have so much guests. Room was larger than expected.

I was expecting better from this hotel. Didn't like paying for room on check in. Hotel had problem with Amex payments, gave me impression my card was at fault, on check out found it was their system, so I lost points not using it. Breakfast was good, although all those security guards standing around was off putting. Didnt feel really comfortable here.
I had a nice stay here as usual (been to the hotel a number of times). The location is perfect, in the heart of "Gringolandia", the touristy zone of La Mariscal. You can get anywhere in the city easily from here and have good infrastructure in terms of restaurants, banks, laundry etc. around the corner. Two things that irritated me: apparently my room 904 had just received some proper cleaning or I don´t know what. It smelt very much like some strong chemical and it gave me a bit of headache and some breathing problems. During my second stay, later that week, in another room, the problem did not occur again. With the new airport in Quito now in operation, travelling between the city and the airport is now much less easy. The hotel offers a shuttle service for an outrageous 38 Dollars one way. I wonder who takes this? The official taxi rate is 23 or 24 from this part of town to the airport. When I inquired at reception, they told me a taxi would cost at least 30 Dollars, which is simply not true. As I complained about the price of the shuttle service, they offered me a rebate of 3 Dollars, the price of 35 Dollars still ridiculous. Why doesn´t Mercure co-operate with a reliable taxi operator and offer reasonable rates to the airport instead of this ridiculously expensive shuttle and supporting the taxi mafia with their "tourist fares"? This would be much appreciated by many guests I am sure. While I was quite happy with the hotel, this really, really annoyed me.
I have stayed at many other Mercure hotels that live up to their standard, unfortunately this is not one of them. I was very dissatisfied with this hotel. I had booked my room using the hotel own website but when I arrived they told me my bill was going to be 30% higher than what my reservation confirmation showed. To make it worst they told me they did not know if they could honor their own reservation rates until they checked with management. I never heard of such poor customer relations of not honoring what their own reservation system offered me. In addition I paid in full when I checked and paid local taxes at that time but then when I checked out they charged me for the same taxes again!. It seems this hotel has very poor controls and most of the people there do not know what they are doing. Upon my arrival there was a bag boy standing by but he never offered to help with my bags. They say they have a full gym with massage but when you get there you find out that is not the case. Too many unfulfilled promises in this hotel, I travel quite often to Quito and this was my first stay at this hotel, I will make sure never to stay in this hotel again
This hotel has a good location if you want to be near/in La Mariscal area. As it is on a side street, it is reasonably quiet and the upper floor rooms have good views over the city. I booked a suite but my room looked nothing like the photo on the web site and I rather suspect it was only a junior suite which in the web site photo, looked like my room. The suite was very large, open plan and with modern furniture whereas mine was two rooms with old, unattractive furniture. As a Gold member of the Accor program, I am supposed to be UPgraded, not DOWNgraded! Staff seemed very helpful and polite and most spoke English. However, how effective they were is under question. My flight to Miami was at 6 am which means I had to be at the airport at 4 am. Two days before departure, I went to reception and organised the airport transfer. I was told it would be $20 and charged to my room. The evening before departure, I stopped by reception to double check the departure time only to find I had no booking! Arrangements were made again and I was once again told it was $20 and it would be put on my room account. I checked out next morning - they did not show me the bill. Imagine my surprise when at the airport, the driver demanded money - and not $20. He wanted $40! I later checked the hotel receipt and there had been no charge on my room bill but I dont appreciate being told $20 and charged $40 and as I had to cough up cash to the driver outside the airport, I now have no receipt to claim my expense (it was a business trip). The hotel room was not airconditioned which was a non issue during my stay as the weather was mild. However, I wouldnt like to be in that room on a warm day. Power went off/on one evening around 4-5 times. On the morning I was departing, I went to the bathroom to shower and nearly slipped over as the floor was awash with water that had leaked from the bottom of the toilet. Water and pieces of brown slime of origin I would prefer not to think about, all over the floor. I had no choice to tiptoe throught it, shower and leave as I had a 3.15 am departure. YUCK! Would I stay here again...errrrr, most likely not. It was reasonably good value for money, breakfasts were ok and apart from the bathroom issue, the room/bed was clean. However, I dont like dishonesty and being hit up for 2 x what I was quoted for an airport transfer, also not getting the room I booked, so I when next in Quito, I will go elsewhere
