Mercure Hotel am Centro Oberhausen: 1.0 out of 5 stars "Loud Train + No AC = Hot, Sleepless Night / Poor Customer Service"

9th September 2011, Holzkirchen, Germany

For the price of the room in NRW, I expected an A/C in the room, which wasn't there. Opening the room, the window was facing the main highway, which was very loud, and also next to a train track which had loud trains over it all night long. Having the window closed, the room was sweaty hot and could not sleep. Opening the Window was very loud and could not sleep. In Winter, this would not be a problem, because you could close the window and be comfortable. Other times of the year, I would never stay here again. The room was big and organized. The carpet could have been better cleaned. There was no bathtub, but an okay bathroom. The internet was of an acceptable speed, but you had to pay for it extra. Parking was free and lots of spaces available. Worst part of the stay was the inconsiderate staff. As I came to reception to check out, where no other guests were, I was not greeted warmly or asked how my stay was. Then at breakfast the waitress was very pushy and not friendly taking our room number and asking for coffee. I have had many better experiences at Accor / Mercure Hotels - will not stay at this hotel again. I ended up staying another night in Oberhausen, but at a different hotel.
