ibis budget Paris La Villette 19ème (ex ETAP HOTEL): 1.0 out of 5 stars "Disappointed..."

4th February 2013, Herbiv4, Baltimore, Maryland, USA

I arrived here and immediately knew this was a mistake. This location can best be described as a hostel. Unfortunately, I had pre-paid for my stay over the internet and could not get a refund (even though the front desk told me twice that I could receive one). I let the gentleman at the front desk know that I did not want to stay there and he was very kind in booking me at a neighboring Ibis (not budget). The shower was filthy and had the hair of the last resident on the walls, the rug appeared to have dog excrement scraped from someone's shoe in the corner, the bunk-bed (yes, bunk-bed) appeared to never have been wiped down and the list goes on and on. I ended up having to pay for two hotels during my stay - but it was definitely worth it to go to the other location. Do yourself a favor and just pay a few extra euros and spare yourself.

ibis budget Paris La Villette 19ème (ex ETAP HOTEL): 2.0 out of 5 stars "Too noisy"

15th January 2013, Stuttgart, Germany

Excellent location within the ring road and close to the metro station; however, our room was a front room. You have heard of the expression "Paris - the city that never sleeps." Well, it's true if you stay in a front room: the traffic goes on all night, and the windows have poor phonic insulation. Ask for a room on the back side.

ibis budget Paris La Villette 19ème (ex ETAP HOTEL): 4.0 out of 5 stars "Great value for money, good hotel"

30th November 2012, WeLovePenguins, Swansea, United Kingdom

For Paris within the ring road this hotel was excellent value for money. It may seem a little expensive compared to Ibis Budget hotels elsewhere, but when compared to prices for hotels in Paris it's really cheap. The staff were very pleasant and courteous, always welcoming us and saying hello. Excellent command of English and happy to speak English with us.Hotel rooms are basic, but they say that themselves. Very comfortable beds and sufficient space in the room, very clean only issue was a large black mark on the ceiling.A little far out from the central tourist areas, but this isn't a problem in Paris, as the metro station is only a couple of hundred metres from the hotel. Laumiere station on line 5 connects well to most other metro lines in Paris. The hotel sells 'carnet' (books of 10 metro, bus and tram single tickets) from a vending machine at the same price as at the metro stations, currently 12.70 euros and the metro runs until 12:30am. This makes the location ideal given the price, as long as you don't intend to be out past half midnight. We would strongly recommend this hotel to any traveller on a budget, especially English speakers whose French is rusty.

ibis budget Paris La Villette 19ème (ex ETAP HOTEL): 2.0 out of 5 stars "Considered clean but looks old"

29th November 2012

Good points: The location of this hotel is very good because it is in between 2 metro stations and the price that we are paying can be considered as reasonable but still not too cheap. Bad points: The place can be considered clean comparing with other hotels in Paris but looks really old. It definitely needs a refurbishment or renovation.

ibis budget Paris La Villette 19ème (ex ETAP HOTEL): 5.0 out of 5 stars "Can't fault it"

22nd October 2012, Musette_12, Cardiff, United Kingdom

This hotel appeared to have been recently refurbished (from Etap to Ibis) - the room was very clean, the toilet and shower separate which was much more practical than the usual cramped combination you get in other budget hotels. They were also spotless and we had new towels every day. The bed was really comfortable but it was quite a noisy street outside - this didn't bother us with the window open but you could probably close it and blot out the racket if you're a light sleeper. TV a welcome addition. The staff were very helpful and charming, the breakfast was good value for the money although some cheese/cold meat might have been a welcome addition. We still managed to fill ourselves up enough to last most of the day. The location was very convenient, between two metro stations, and there were lots of places to eat and shop nearby. Might have been a bit dodgy if very late at night, but we returned from a concert well past midnight and felt perfectly safe. You could stroll down the canal at the rear of the hotel, right into Paris I think. Very picturesque (and free!).Overall I would definitely recommend this hotel. I've stayed in more expensive places and been a lot less satisfied.

ibis budget Paris La Villette 19ème (ex ETAP HOTEL): 4.0 out of 5 stars "The room is small"

11th October 2012, forwardwang, Beijing, China

The location is good, easy to find, close to metro. The servants are friendly, say hello to you whenever they meet you.The room is a little bit small, but the bed is comfortable. In general, I like it, because I can sleep well.

ibis budget Paris La Villette 19ème (ex ETAP HOTEL): 3.0 out of 5 stars "Good location but .."

26th August 2012, Sheffield, United Kingdom

We've stayed in 4 other Etap/Ibis Budget Hotels on previous visits to Paris, but chose this one on our recent visit due to it's location, which was very good. The ability to have a parking space in the basement was very good also and the reception staff very good and helpful. The weather was very hot and as a consequence the air conditioning didn't have any impact on keeping the room temperature bearable which meant the nights were a bit of an ordeal and sleep in short supply. Of the four mornings we had booked breakfast we were only asked on one occasion to provide room number information. They were a bit short on staff in this department, but the breakfast offer was ok except for "industrial" coffee.

ibis budget Paris La Villette 19ème (ex ETAP HOTEL): 1.0 out of 5 stars "Bug bites"

21st August 2012, akph, Nürnberg

On the first night we woke up around 3 am because we felt very itchy. We realized that there were at least ten bed bugs in our bed. We went to the reception immediately and asked for a new room. The receptionist did not look surprised at all, he gave us a new room with no questions asked. Unfortunatelly we also found bugs in the new room on the next night, altough we we not sure if we had brought them form the pervious room. It turned out that my girfriend was allergic to these bug bites. She had about 40 smaller and some bigger bite marks on her legs, toes, arms, armpit... She could not wear skirts, she had to take medicine nevertheless she felt so so itchy she could not even sleep. In the last day of our holidays we washed and dried all of our clothes at 60 C and bought new trolleys...I could not recommend this hotel, after this incident.

ibis budget Paris La Villette 19ème (ex ETAP HOTEL): 4.0 out of 5 stars "Good value, basic but clean"

With four teenage children we wanted somewhere reasonable to act as a base to explore Paris and overall this was excellent value. Just outside the centre of the city meant we had to get the metro into town (15 mins journey) which was fine and what we had expected. The location was great - not too far from the ring road as we were driving to Paris we didn't want to have to navigate too far into the city. At the back of the hotel (towards the Jaures metro) is a canal area which has been redeveloped so has cafes and bars and is a pleasant walk to the hotel. Further a field (towards Gare du Nord) the area changes and is not so pleasant. But the immediate vicinity is fine - and a supermarket next door was really convenient for packed lunches etc. Breakfast at €5 was good for the children (typical continental). Rooms basic but clean and functional. Free wifi a real bonus and TV with BBC world channel and sports gave us some entertainment whilst in the hotel. Hotel staff were friendly and helpful. Only complaint was the rooms were hot, but then Paris was having a heatwave, that said I don't think the air conditioning was very effective.

ibis budget Paris La Villette 19ème (ex ETAP HOTEL): 5.0 out of 5 stars "Superb!"

9th August 2012, Bridgetjones62, Leeds, United Kingdom

Being a single parent on a tight budget I was able to have 5 days in Paris with my teenage children thanks to this hotel and Ryanair.  Rooms are basic but clean and practical with tv and free wifi which was fast and pleased the kids on their iPods! I found the staff very helpful and they spoke good English. Check in smooth and no check out needed. Code to access the room made you fee secure. Nice big windows that opened fully with practical blind. I cannot understand some comments on here as the toilet and shower were brilliant and very clean. Room cleaned and bed made every day. Soap, towel and plastic cup per person provided. Beds comfy and top bunk strong enough for my 16 year old son. I will definitely be using Etap/Ibis Hotels again and am already planning my next city break. I can't see the point of paying any more for a hotel as you literally only sleep in the room as there is so much to see and do in Paris. Metro station either side within couple of mins walk then approx 15 mins to the centre. Food and dink very very expensive in Paris so we stocked up with drinks, nibbles and cheese from the  supermarket next door and baguettes from the boulangerie over the road and had picnics in the many parks available in Paris. For €1.90 at the  boulangerie you can get a cafe au lait and either melt in your mouth huge pain au chocolate or croissant which the kids loved but for some reason it was closed Friday morning! We used Les Cars Rouges hop on/off two day tour bus which picked up from Gare Nord at 10 am ish which is about a 20 walk from the hotel. The company don't advertise this and you can get a bus back around 7:15 too saving metro fares. Buy a book of 10 tickets on the Metro which saves you approx 50 cents a journey. The tour bus was great and took us to all the major sights. In hindsight I think L'Open Tour hop on/off would have been better though as covered more areas although slightly more expensive. We did Montmartre independently as the metro is very easy to negotiate. Don't miss this area, the Sacre Coeur is worth the steps and there was amazing street entertainment and views of Paris. The Eiffel tower was awesome and we had our picnic in the first floor bar which I asked if ok and they allowed! Can you imagine that in the UK?A Wonderful holiday had by all thanks to a superb budget hotel and Ryanair of course! ;0)

ibis budget Paris La Villette 19ème (ex ETAP HOTEL): 4.0 out of 5 stars "accorhotel ParisAve Jean Jaures"

5th August 2012, schat, Scotland

Great hotel. Location: In an area which is very noisy until the early hours of the morning, with suspicious characters lurking around.Rooms were clean, staff helpful and polite. Big breakfasts which you have to pay for (quite cheap), but no checking so get the impression that a lot of people (us the ones who are making sandwiches for the day!) don't pre-pay for it!

ibis budget Paris La Villette 19ème (ex ETAP HOTEL): 1.0 out of 5 stars "Cancellation Problem"

30th July 2012, marcosavf, Curitiba, Brazil

I made a reservation paying more for flexibility on cancellation. I was not able to go to the hotel and called them requesting the cancellation. Now I see in my credit card bill that I was charged for no show. How will ACCOR solve it?
