"Good Location"
3rd March 2013, greymanAustralia, Australia
This hotel is getting very tired. I have stayed a few times and each time I think that it will be refurbished but alas not to be. In saying that it is very reasonable price wise and is only a few minutes walk from everything Auckland has to offer. I will stay there again just on location.

"great location, but only average quality."
2nd March 2013, alanrobinsa, salisbury
The Mercure Hotel Windsor has a great situation on Queens Street, very close to the airport express bus stop (No6). This is good for the main rail station and the ferries to Waiheke and Devenport. It is also within walking distance of the cruise terminal. A well stocked metro supermarket is just across the road for any food top ups you may need. The hotel is clean, but is tired in its decor and lay out. It is not upto the usual standards of an Accor Hotel. For instance the lighting in our room was poor and one bedside light did not work which meant we were in semi dakness when we first entered the room. The bedside light was quickly changed, but this did little to improve the overall light quality. In the room there was a huge flat screen TV sitting on top of an even bigger TV cabinet, which was now empty. However there were no drawers to put even the minimum clothing (just a large wardrobe). The mini kitchenette was useful and the fridge essential if you were using the hotel for a longer stay.On our late arrival, the front door was locked and it took 5 minutes for it to be answered, even though we had warned the hotel about a late check in. Our suitcases had to be pulled up a ramp to the check in desk, only to be taken down the ramp after the check in to get to the lift. This a waste of time and energy when a simple sign would have prevented the wasted effort. The receptioinist said they had thought of doing this but had not got round to it!!!In summary, other than the rather gloomy room, there is absolutely nothing fundamentally wrong with this hotel other than simple, finer details.

Management responseDear GuestI am glad you were able to take advantage of our amazingly central location. You would be glad to hear that we are currently in the middle of changing our lights over to LED which not only are more environmentally friendly but are brighter. Thank you for sharing your feedback I will definitely pass this on to the appropriate departments.Kind RegardsAmanda EvansMercure Auckland Windsor

"Disappointed guest"
27th February 2013, New Plymouth, New Zealand
I was unable to sleep due to the noise from the night club the floor beneath me which played til 7am. There was no cell phone coverage. There was no beer available when reception was contacted to order from the 'Mini Bar on Demand'. A staff member let herself into my room to look for a phone that had been left by a previous guest, unaware that there was anyone checked into the room. The cleaning staff knocked on the door at 8am to clean the room after her supervisor told her that I had checked out, which I had not. All and all not a pleasant experience at all.

"Disappointing"
26th February 2013, John837, Sydney, Australia
Very disappointing stay. No parking, not notified at time of booking. Air conditioning in room not working, two days to be moved to another room. Tried to order a beer on my last night, was told the hotel had run out of beer. Seriously???

Management responseDear GuestI am glad that you found your room and the cleanliness to be of a good standard but I am saddened that your overall stay was tainted from maintenance and parking issues. You would be glad to know that we are planning on replacing all of our older air-conditioning units early this year. Also just to clarify we do offer a self service parking option for $25 per night at a local car-park.Thank you for taking the time to write us a review.Kind RegardsAmanda EvansMercure Auckland Windsor

"Good location and surprisingly quiet"
21st February 2013, Caroline L, Kerikeri
Handy to Britomart and lots of good cheap restaurants, but best of all Pandoro is just across the road for breakfast brioche and very good coffee. The room was small but very clean and perfectly adequate for one night in the CBD. There were extra pillows which we always appreciate and we slept well; it was surprisingly quiet given that we were right above Queen St. Overall good value for money and we would go there again.

"One Night In Auckland"
14th February 2013, SiandRose, Auckland Region, New Zealand
We wanted somewhere central so that we could walk to where we were dining out with friends and this hotel is great for that. Unfortunately its not particularly user friendly for those who drive their own car and want valet parking. There was no valet to park your car, we had to park in the 5 minute loading bay in Queen Street to go in to the hotel to find out they give us a carpark ticket and we park our car ourselves in the Britomart carpark about four blocks away, about a 5-10 minute walk back to the hotel with luggage in hand. I guess we could have unloaded our luggage before we went to the carpark but we didn't have much anyway. I would suggest if you use this hotel, don't drive your car, get a taxi.

Management responseDear GuestThank you for taking the time to write us a review. It is great to hear that you found our location perfect for your night out enjoying the exquisite dinning options Auckland central has to offer. Yes we do suggest guests unload their luggage on arrival so that we can either hold onto it or take it up to the room before parking the car.We look forward to welcoming you back again sometime soon.Kind Regards,Amanda EvansAssistant Manager

"Pleasant Stay in a Good Location"
13th February 2013, ebickers, Wellington
Service: even though I was checking in way too early the staff tried to be accomodating by offering to hold the bags. Luckily, the room became ready during the discussion so the system must be good in keeping staff up to date. Staff also noticed my personal needs and put out extra items for this or left things in place the way I needed it. Room was always tidied up when I returned in the evening.Room: A bible, queen size bed, wardrobe, bathroom, ironing board and iron, hangers and other items but these were the ones that were a priority for me.I liked that it also had a kitchenette, that the fridge had plenty of space because it was not taken up by a mini-bar. It was on the top floor (8) which can be accessed by the stairwell after getting off at floor 7. This was fine for me but perhaps not so much when I'm older or with my family. There were two small windows with blinds - I was happy with this as the purpose of the hotel was a place to rest! What I liked best was the location because it was near Britomart public transport, Catholic Church, my favourite downtown food hall eaterie and within walking distance of the Public Library which I frequented for their free WiFi.The things I liked least was that the service trolleys that the staff had to use were very big and hard to fit in the lift. Didn't bother me but I felt for the staff.
