"Great Location - just like the Western Front"
21st May 2012, Auckland
Lower Queen Street is Auckland's party district, bars close at 5am. The size of modern bass amplifiers carries their syncopated beats numerous city blocks. Despite double glazing, room 407 was in the front line of the aural assault. I felt like General Melchet's batman trying anything to get to sleep at the Western Front. The room was clean with drapes but without curtains so they could never be drawn. The location is very central to transport and "entertainment". But this is not a place to stay if you wish to sleep after a long day.

The hotel was centrally located. Very clean and well equipped room. Great value for money with excellent staff. Will definitely stay at this hotel again.
"Mercure Windsor Auckland"
13th May 2012, Eljago, Wellington, New Zealand
Good value for money, quiet and spacious room. The only downside was there was no dinner service available in the restaurant, and this required going across to the other Mercure Hotel which had a pleasant restaurant with a great vew but was in the higher price bracket..
"Disappointed"
28th April 2012, Invercargill
Room - maintenance required eg curtain hanging slightly as hook detached, cracks in paint and toilet roll holder loose - Very stuffy and loud noise at night from outside so not good for sleepingService - Initially good however unwelcoming in dining room -we arrived for breakfast just after 10am on Sat morn (book in our room stated until 11am at weekends). Hostess unhelpful, even argued with me at one stage and started clearing away before we had finished. Spoke to reception and gave our room number so the book could be checked. Came back later that day and found the book open at breakfast page with '6am-10am circled as if to say 'you were wrong' - the person who did this had obviously not read the rest of the page. We were unable to spend the first of our 4 nights at this hotel due to a power cut and were sent by taxi to the Novotel at the airport. Not very convenient as we had planned a movie and meal in the city but we realised the power cut was not the fault of the hotel and the Novotel hotel was excellent and the staff couldn't have been more helpful. It would have been nice if the staff at Mercure had acknowledged this disruption in some way, at least by good service. We are not normally complainers and have enjoyed all our previous stays in Accor hotels, however we will go back to the Mercure on Customs Street next time we visit.
"Disappointed"
27th April 2012, rosieinvercargill, invercargill
There were a number of little things that contributed to our overall disappointment with the room - curtain hanging slightly with hooks missing, cracks in paint on walls and the toilet roll holder was loose. Due to a power cut the day before the TV would only display one channel. We realise that was beyond their control however it would be helpful to inform guests of this issue. We had difficulty sleeping as the our room was very stuffy so we kept the window open at night but then the loud music from surrounding bars/clubs also kept us awake. The dining book in our room clearly stated that breakfast was available until the later time of 11 am on Saturday mornings. When we arrived in the dining room just after 10 am we were told we were too late. After we explained about the book we were able to have breakfast but the hostess was unwelcoming and argumentative. The man on the desk asked for our room number and said he would check the book in our room. When we returned later it was open at the breakfast page with the the times 6am-10am circled as if to say we were wrong. He obviously didn't read the piece below about extended weekend hours - rather unprofessional! We will stay at the Mercure on Customs Street next time we are in Auckland as we found that to be excellent last year.
"Comfortable"
26th April 2012, bbcw, Auckland
Reasonably comfortable and clean and the double glazing kept most of the noise from the nightclub close by out.
"Good for the price"
26th April 2012, Waikiteroa, Caloundra, Australia
For the low rate, the hotel was excellent value. I was in a 1st floor roowith no natural light, I would be unhappy to stay longer than one nit in a room like that thou.
"Most Horible hotel ever"
26th April 2012, Kailo10, Wellington, New Zealand
This place is not value for money...for one you couldnt sleep at night because of the ragging nightclub, that does not stop till 7am in the morning..we booked a room for three people and they only gave us two towles and one set of shampoo n conditioner, that only lasts for one person...In my parents room...they wondered why they kept falling off there bed! it only had THREE LEGS!! and the motel tried to use a telephone book to keep it up right!!! so no not value for money. Not only that but our TV did not work and they were in no hurry to fix it! it was a complete nightmare! We didnt sleep a wink at this place! SO MANY PEOPLE WERE COMPLAINING when I went downstairs to sort this out!
"GREAT location -- right on Queen Street in downtown Auckland"
21st April 2012, HaljoHal, San Francisco, California, USA
In general the Mercure chain are good value properties for the price. This particular Mercure is literally 50 meters up Queen Street from the Mercure Auckland and is better appointed than its nearby sister hotel. The walls and bathrooms may look a little tired but the beds are more comfortable. New TV's in most rooms as well as updated furniture. The front desk is most friendly and helpful. The biggest disappointment is with the hotel's Internet access. Why can't hotels get the fact that this matters to both business travelers as well as leisure travelers? The Hotel Trinity in Wellington offers FREE 24 hour Internet access via wi-fi in the rooms and lobby, and it works like a charm.Mercure Windsor via Reivernet offers 30 minutes or 8MB capacity cap in the lobby. Both times, I logged on and tried to use it, it crapped out after uploading 2 plain text e-mails. What absolute crap! There was not even an Ethernet port in the room. The hotel has GOT to get this sorted and join the 21st Century. On the plus side, walking out of the hotel, one is equidistant walking distance from Britomart, Aotea Sq. the Chancery and the Viaduct. What an absolutely perfect downtown CBD location.
"Wifi"
20th April 2012, Munkaeo, Bangkok, Thailand
It will be great if you can exceed Free WIFI at the Lobby from 30 mins to 1 hr. The room was good. You could provide the room that I requested. The price was reasonable. If I have a chance to visit Auckland, I will book this hotel again.
"two night stay"
18th April 2012, Waiuku,Auckland
great site, great room and huge bathroom. Very convenient to everything. Little bit hard to find (parking) but helpful staff when phoning for directions. Pays to phone to know where to park. Excellent valet service.Great break was had by all
"Nice Hotel"
18th April 2012, Vagabond1058, Wellington, New Zealand
This is a good hotel, the decor etc is a quite dated but in a great location and clean and tidy. The only real negatives were the milk in the fridge was off and there was no price list for the minibar
"Excellent, except for nightclub noise"
18th April 2012, Nicapa, Melbourne
Modern hotel room with small kitchenette and excellent value for money. Bed was nice and comfy, room was clean with modern finishes and decent size bathroom. Staff were friendly and helpful, and we really enjoyed our stay here except that the noise from the nightclubs in the surrounding streets was loud and continued all night long until morning. If the hotel could work out a way to block out this noise our stay would have been perfect.
"Mercure Hotel Windsor"
16th April 2012, h_chilcott, Cairns
Nice large rooms and great value and location. We booked 2 rooms and asked for them to be side by side - we were given 2 rooms on the same floor, not side be side but it still worked out okay as we had 2 door entry cards for the kids room - one for them and one for us and we could call between rooms for free as often as we liked. The kids room was meant to have 2 single beds, but they actually got 2 double beds, which they were very pleased about - plus both rooms came with kitchen supplies and hob and microwave, which was an unexpected bonus. Breakfast was great.
"Greatly discounted for Accor Adv Plus"
12th April 2012, Travellerporirua, Wellington
This is our 3rd time at this Hotel. The rooms were greatly discounted for Accor Adv Plus members (40%) and this was a pleasant treat for Easter weekend. We stayed in 2 rooms - 606 & 608 and they were spacious and had better chattels. We made good use of their sauna, Gym and the spa pool. Only downside is that the spa was small but had heaps of chlorine and smelt so strong that we could not sit there for more than 5mins pool. The staff at reception as well as cleaning, were very helpful in different ways. We lost our key to the suitcase and Mr. Tobias Kim was kind enough to go to our room and help us sort it. The staff are great that they drive the car to secure carpark and bring it back when we need it. In all it was a pleasant stay
"Value For Money"
11th April 2012, Auckland
The room I had was lovely and clean and very big with a great feeling of airiness about it. It also had a good view of the city and a peep of the sea. The location is very central to all the cafes etc at the viaduct and also only a short walk to the casino. The downtown shopping complex is just across the road and good for shopping also the customhouse duty free just a block away. It is also well located for buses and trains. The room prices are extremely reasonable for a hotel so well situated and the service is excellent.
"A Character Hotel but some rooms need improvement"
11th April 2012, Porirua, New Zealand
I stayed in Room 504 for two nights. It can be noisy with people going in and out all the time and some lousy people, drunk at late night can drive you crazy. The carpets had lots of stains and a good carpet cleaning would make it better. The room was small, although all the rooms have a tidy kitchenette - excellent for families with children. The air-con was noisy in the beginning and when reported, it was well attended to immediately and rectified. Please avoid rooms near to elevators. They have a small Gym but good for me. Sauna was great. 30 mins free Internet is available. All the staff at Reception and Room cleaning were very friendly and helpful. Carpark is available at $35/night. Staff take care of the car for parking and later bringing it down to the Hotel front. Overall, this Hotel is very good.
"Good value for location and friendly and efficient service"
6th April 2012, gold coast
We went to Mercure Auckland at Customs Rd, waiting for 15 minutes to be served by pompous and rude reception male staff and told we were to early to check in which we said that's ok if we can just leave the luggage and park the car which he told us the price was $40 a day. Luckily we called in the morning to check about the car park and quoted $35 a day. This turned out to be the revelation that we were in the wrong Mercure. So after unpleasant service we went to Mercure Windsor at Queen St where we booked in and greeted by a friendly and efficient staff. We told her that we were glad that we didn't book in the mercure in custom st. And extra bonus, when we let ourselves in the room, the phone rang and the staff told us that since we drove hybrid car the price of car park reduced by $15.
"Jammed In"
4th April 2012, New Plymouth, New Zealand
This was a great hotel except for the loading & unloading. It is jammed in between retail businesses on one of the busiest parts of Queen Street with no allocated car parks. It was necessary for us to go to Mercure Auckland to try and find where to park and it was fortunate they rang the hotel for us and arranged to have someone meet us outside. For visitors with disabilities this is not the ideal hotel.
"Had better"
29th March 2012, Sydney
Arrived late (11pm) went straight to room on 2nd floor towards the back of the hotel. room quality was not great cracked tiles in the bathroom and broken drain in the shower, but the real issue was there was a nightclub nearby that played loud music untill 7am !. I complained and got moved to level 5 and a more central room for the 2nd night. Room was of better quality with double glazed windows and was much quieter but the airconditoning unit wasnt working correctly so it was hot as you couldnt open the window due to the noise outside. If you want a cheaper inner city stay perhaps this place is ok, but pick your room carefully.
"Great location, pity about the rooms"
24th March 2012, Sydney, Australia
We stayed at the hotel on our first and last nights in New Zealand. The first was OK and our room had a window we could open. The room itself was small but just serviceable. For our last night, March 20th, we were given Room 203. Avoid it at all costs. We had to use air con as none of the windows opened; the toilet flush in the bathroom was was faulty and the air extractor was very noisy; the fridge had been switched off and we had to be alerted to where the switch was to put it on ourselves (but only after our own drinks had become warm); there was only one chair in the room, despite there being two of us (a chair was brought up from the dining room for us); the wardrobe was tiny with hardly any coathangers; we had to ask for a second bedside lamp as the lighting in the room was inadequate. Breakfast was very poor; on our second visit the bircher muesli had gone sour - the liquid had fermented. The rest of the breakfast was very ordinary.
"have stayed in better"
23rd March 2012, Invercargill, New Zealand
Found the room to hot and no instructions to work th T.V. We stayed more than one night and the mini bar was not re-stocked
"Very good value in excellent location"
14th March 2012, Brisbane
The location of this hotel is right in the Auckland CBD with easy access to all parts including the waterfront and public transport. The rooms are good, albeit a little tired and worn, which adds to the charm of the place. I found the staff excellent, very accommodating and helpful. Parking (to check in) is an issue but valet parking is great.
"Good service and excellent location"
14th March 2012, Queenstown, New Zealand
Very helpful staff who had my booking and keys organised while I parked my vehicle.Room was comfortable. Location was excellent with plenty of options for food and entertainment
"Auckland Windsor"
6th March 2012, Wollongong, Australia
Very central which is the largest attraction.Rooms are large and clean. Beds need to be upgraded. Staff were very helpful.Valet car parking was a highlight, as it meant we could get into our rooms while the car was being looked after. We also had breakfast which was also good but not evry good.Otherwise it is a good place to stay
