Upgraded to suite as members of ACCOR; great room with nice view; we were made to feel very welcome; great staff who went out of their way to ensure we had a good stay, including recommending sites to visit & assiting with translations for taxi drivers; good food; nice recreational facilities; minor maintenance problems sorted when reported to front desk;

Stayed at the hotel in the Opera suite for 4 nights from the 1/5/12 to the 5/5/12. Nice room, 2 bathrooms, high floor, good views, good service, clean hotel, 10 minutes walk to the city centre. Not sure what the other rooms are like, but I would expect them to be of a similar standard.Good gym for a hotel, nice pool, and good business centre, cosy executive club lounge be it a little smallish, but still a good stanard. We received excellent service from Carter who worked in the executive lounge. He was very helpful, friendly and always tried to please and above all he was happy, in light of trying to appease some people who demand the impossible. Well done Carter your an asset.I would definately stay here again. Be it the room rate appears to be high and the prices in the restaurants are also appear to be a little high for a 5 star hotel in China.Discovered a great little Pizza restaurant 100 metres away called High pizza, excellent food and prices.

The room is great as we have a free upgrade to a much bigger room, does giving us more space. More importantly, we like the overall feel of the hotel. It's not the best that we have visited but definitely a great hotel in Chengdu.ThanksML

Hotel location is pretty good. Service is not bad. Food from room service is terrible...Burger was very dry, quality of the beef is not so good... Tan tan noodle was soggy... Better to grab a bite outside...

I expected some warmth in winter, no heat in room, breakfast was nearly 30 min's late and was cold on arrival, the business centre could not send a fax for me, I think incompetence is the word for it, and finally had to abandon check out process to rescue my luggage which had been retagged and was about to be given to another guest, the Manshung hotel around the corner had less stars but was warm, much cleaner and managed to send my fax in a matter of minutes, all in all I am disgusted with the issue.John Lyons.

The hotel has a very good price conditions comparing to all other Sofitel hotels. But there are some weak point which it should not be happened with the Sofitel standard:The staff working in the Service cannot speak very well english.The gym room looks not very clean beacause chines people train with the bath clothes and without shoes. The infrastructure around the pool (shower / dress room) is as well not clean and needs to be renovated.

Which was the last hotel executive lounge that you went to, where you were restricted to only red wine and beer? To be precise, only ONE kind of red wine and ONE kind of beer... I just joined the hotel's Advantage Plus program, and as part of the package, was offered free night stays. Wanting to really pamper myself, I paid for the additional upgrade from the free room to the Opera Queen Suite. Before I checked in, I have already stayed a number of nights at the Somerset Riverview Serviced Apartments directly opposite the Sofitel, so I was expecting nothing less from the hotel. The disappointment began when I got to my room- size aside (it can't be bigger than a service apartment, that i am aware of), the furnishings were old, there was a severe lack of hooks to hang towels on, the in-desk multi-plug was a nice touch, if not for the fact that it did not have any allowance for the plug to be fully inserted, and the bathroom layout was kinda cramped. Room-wise, the only good things were the bath amenities, and the bed. Breakfast was scrumptious, and I thought that would have made up for all the disappointments, even the lackluster executive lounge privileges. However, i was proven wrong: i had to check-out really early (6am), and the process was incredibly disorganized; the front-desk staff seem genuinely unprepared. Overall, not a place I will ever stay in again, and very frankly, the beginning of my regret to join the Advantage Plus program.

Management responseThe hotel started last year a program of renovation of its guest rooms. We have changed carpets in rooms on five floors, changed carpet in all corridors and changed curtains in all guest rooms. This program is still continuing. We have taken good note of the guest's suggestion to add more hooks in the bathroom.Sofitel has recently introduced a new wine program in all its outlets with specific wine list for our Club Lounge. The lapse in standards mentioned by the guest is currently being addressed as it does not reflect what is normally offered during the day and during evening cocktail to our Club guests.We appreciate greatly the points mentioned by the guest and are addressing them.

Sofitel Wanda Chengdu: 5.0 out of 5 stars "Great hotel with splendid service!"

Already stayed in this hotel for a couple of times. Although it is from 2004, they maintained it very well. New carpets in the hall and almost in all rooms. We stayed with 2 young kids and the manager was so kind to give us a convenient upgrade to a spacious suite. Good service and very nice and warm swimming pool with sauna.Also a reliable babysitter for a few evenings was no problem. Next time we’ll go here again.

Sofitel Wanda Chengdu provided a great base for our weary legs , as westerners (Australians ) while we visited the Panda Research, Wangjiang Tower Park , Jinli street, then off to the Leshan Giant Buddha, Temples Baoguo and Wannian on Mt Emei and then on to Jiuzhaigou.

I have been an member for Accor Advantage Plus for seven years. I have been always satisfied with most Accor's experiences; however, I was quite disappointed at the experience of my stay at Sofitel Chengdu on April 22, 2011.First, I found the toilet in my room was not properly cleaned. Secondly, my friend's foot was cut in the swimming pool, but the clinic was closed at that time.Thirdly, the service quality in the western restaurant was slow and not responsive.To sum up, it was an experience unlike the other Accor hotel.

they made two mistakes in my stay. knock the worng door for bed making.etcinside had crack in the ceiling and kind of old. front reception service is good but nobody offers to carry the lugguage when i reach the hotel. With this kind of lousy service, i think to pay a 10% service fee to the hotel is totally worthless.

It was an enjoyable stay. Just a bit curious why some websites such as elong travel rate is as 4 stars while i thought it should be 5? Anyway, good on you guys and please keep up the performance. The room is well kept and it is a bit pity that it looks not so fresh, maybe you guys have too busy business in the past. :) What can be improved? Maybe, more parking space in the front so that there will be more room for guests coming and going.
