My wife and I stay at the Sofitel Sydney Wentworth regularly and often bring others with us - in this case two other couples for multiple nights. I understand the renovations are occurring, which has disrupted your normal activities, however it has significantly degraded the guest experience, from arrival (Finding reception - need staff on the street guiding guests to the revised check in entry) to check in, dining to facilities and comfort. As gold members, we were told at check in that we would receive a welcome amenity in our room, but it never came. No assistance was offered with our luggage. When I approached the restaurant to use our complimentary drink vouchers for a coffee, I was yelled at by the maître de to get back in line with the people waiting for a table. All of this significantly impacted on the enjoyment of our stay and that of our guests who we brought to your motel and no compensation, upgrade, amenity or discount was offered. I believe that when the hotel cannot offer its full services, there needs to be an offset and the staff need to try harder to enhance the guest experience. I recommend anyone considering booking here to wait until the renovations have been completed. I also think we will need to consider changing our hotel of choice for future stays. I'm happy to discuss further if required.

After booking I was made aware of the renovations, so was prepared for this upon arrival (although it would've been handy to know before booking a non-refundable room). Check-in was swift and efficient. Not sure why I was allocated a disabled room though. It was late when I realised and was ready to sleep so I just let it go. During room service, I asked for replacement teaspoons however they didnt have any. There was no pen or paper in the room to write some notes, something I thought the Sofitel would provide. Unusual for the bar to only serve club members until 2.30pm when I wanted to use my drink voucher (so no payment was required), and it was also very empty so not sure why I couldn't. None of these are relevant to whether there are renovations or not. Once the renovation is complete then I am sure things will be back to normal.

Really enjoyed our stay & appreciated the room upgrade. The complimentary bottle of wine was really nice and the chocolates sensational. Only minor issue was the lateness of room service, they didn't come untill 4pm when we were getting ready to go out. We had to wait 10 minutes to check out as a couple took quite a while to check in & there was only one person on check out duties at 9.30 am.
