"Disapointing"

After staying at this hotel on several occasions and always been very satisfied, this time it was a disappointment with the standard of my room and its cleanliness. There were problems with the bathroom and the toilet not being clean and in need of maintenance along with the iron not working. I hope this was just a one off as previous to this i have always enjoyed my stays there.

"Perfect for a night in town"

Stayed one night here with husband and 5 year old before going to the Olympic test event at the Velodrome. The room was perfect for 2 + 1 small child. Had back view not waterside though, but son loved watching the trains go past. All quiet at night, but didn't sleep that well as the mattress was VERY firm, and we are used to a firm bed. Had an early drink and dinner in the bar and restaurant - very smart, good service and lovely food. Great value top quality kids menu too. Breakfast buffet was excellent.

"Dicklands delight"

Ended up staying 2 nights at this hotel. Fantastic rate inc breakfast. Reception staff delightful. Parking right next door very reasonably priced. Fantastic location for seeing all the developments for the olympics and the O2. Wonderful bar and restaurant with terrace. Very young vibe, but classy. Staff very friendly. Lovely rooms and although we saw alot of planes but didnt hear one.

"FANTANSTIC"

This was great experience with my family we all enjoyed every minute of our stay at the hotel, the staff were excellent very helpful and always there to help when in nned. The gym , sauna and other stuff such as kids games. The sight was breath taking from my window and all I acn say the food was top class , very good breakfats even thouhgh someI missed some , would recommend this hotel thankyou for your hospitality Iwish a happy new year with blessings to the great staff who make the hotel what its is . thankyou more2coe35.

"Good venue."

Good for seeing the sights ,just use the dockland light railway and the tube.Nice location to look round and relax ,could do with more computers there are two but we never saw them free .But in general perfect hope you enjoy it as much as us.

"Novotel Excel August 2011"

Stayed here for 2 nights weekend of London triathlon. Location superb if wanting to goto events at Excel or even o2 arena. Directions said to come off at Victoria DLR stop, however from observation/time in my opinion the Excel DLR stop was a closer & easier walk. Down points, 2 stains on carpet that looked like blood. Reported & supposedly these turned out to be red wine. I paid extra for an executive room, however the free internet access didnt work (issue with net & the ppv movies all weekend). Took advantage of weather & canary wharf with shopping/resturaunts a pleasant stroll (1-2 hours) which suited the walker - much quicker by DLR though. All in a pleasant hotel & would stay again.

"Very Good Hotel In A Convenient Location"

Pleasant modern hotel convenient to the DLR station. As usual for an Accor hotel, excellent staff and good food. Only reasons for rating Very good -vs- Excellent are the breakfast was expensive (but good) and the (excellently situated) gym was a touch limited - I was in and out early but wouldn't want to be in there at a busy time.

"the planes are not that bad, really"

Located in the Docklands area, right next to the Excel center, the Novotel stands alongside it's sister ship, the IBIS. Both modern new buildings, the hotels are a welcome change from the old world, usually cramped and dingy hotels available in the victorian terraces that service the bulk of London. Whilst the hotel staff all seem to of foreign origin, they manage to provide a warm welcome with courteous hospitality and helpfulness.The rooms are of good size for London, in keeping with the target travellers but much better than many older hotels in which I've stayed. Modern, clean, well presented, the biggest criticism is the lack of a worthwhile view from the smallish window and the muffled sound of the planes taking off and landing from the nearby London City Airport. That being said, the curfew limits the hours of operation and the jets were never so loud as to be annoying. Broadband and wireless internet are available for a price, seemingly the trend in hotels these days. But if you're really desperate for checking your emails, a pair of free PCs in the foyer can be used, if you're quick to grab one.The bar is a reasonably nice place to have a few beers and a light meal in the evening, looking out across the docks or to the Excel center across the way. Prices are no worse than an upmarket pub, with a good selection of beers available. The restuarant has a good menu selection at reasonable prices, but for those who prefer to venture out there are some fine eating establishments in the nearby precinct, some with free Wi-Fi.Getting to the hotel by car is easy, located as it is away from the main roads, but if you are a traveller the area is well served by public transport. The DLR is a short walk from the hotel, with two stations equal distance from the front entrance. The DLR operates fast, regular and frequent services into greater London, with numerous connections to the London underground rail system. If flying into or out of London City, the hotel is ideally placed for the quick getaway. If you're looking for a modestly priced, clean, modern, spacious hotel, away from the hustle and bustle of London but within easy reach of all that London has to offer, then you should consider the Novotel. It ticks all the boxes.

"Great Value with Breakfast"

Although the Novotel Excel is a bit far from the main parts of London, it was extremely easy to take the DLR to the Tower of London and to the tube. We were a family of 6 with three small children and an 80 year old mother, and we were able to do it without a problem.Breakfast is exceptional and was included in our booking. It was a perfect way to start our days and there was something to please everyone.Thank you to the staff, as well, who were all very helpful.
