Pullman Bangkok Hotel G ( Prior Sofitel Bangkok Silom): 4.0 out of 5 stars "Interesting new concept, staff tries hard but needs time to become Magnificent."

8th May 2012, JustMeSingapore, Singapore

I decided to try the new So Sofitel flagship hotel, so I booked one night to check it out.First impressions: Interesting design. Interesting concept, but some aspects of the hotel are more design-dominated than guest-friendly.No doubt the design elements are very novel. But, where design meets practicality, some areas the design gets int the way of hospitality.Take the ground floor entrance for example. The entrance was a concealed pair of swing doors dressed in pitch black. Most would find it uber cool, but once you get past the initial impression, the lasting impression is that the entrance was small in comparison with the rest of the tall building. Verdict: Cool, but not grand enough. Upon arrival at the lobby, I was initialy pleasanly surprised that I couldn't find it, until my eyes were directed at the impressive oak/wood huge table with staff standing using laptops. Again, initial impression is cool, but later, it felt a bit lacking in presence. The staff were in interesting designed uniforms, but with all the equipment like printers and stuff tucked neatly away behind the reception table, one wonders if it is practical. Unfortunately, such design elements got in the way of the efficiency, and I was checked in after 15 minutes.Room design was great - I chose the metal rooms. But, the clean white minimalist design was marred by some dark patches near where the panel to the fridge was. I guess again, practicality comes into play - I can imagine the amount of time they need to keep the room pristine white. The couch by the window was great. Very comfy - in this case, it was design in both form and function that worked perfectly. The illy special coffee machine was great - it worked and looked high-tech and clean cut. The free mini-bar in my upgraded room was a big welcome. Breakfast at Red Oven was a letdown. Considering it was very expensive 750THB, and having stayed at the previous Sofitel Silom and the Le Meridien Bangkok before, I would say again - very interesting concept - like Movenpick style of stations of gourmet/hot cooked a la minute type of food, but at the end, the quantity and spread was a let down but only because the initial impression was set high. It was supposed to be buffet (and it is) but the portions are too fancy to be enjoyed. There are some nice and interesting items like good cherry compote, real raw honey (on the comb) and crepe suzette in Grand Marnier cooked to perfection.

Pullman Bangkok Hotel G ( Prior Sofitel Bangkok Silom): 3.0 out of 5 stars "servcie not up to expectation"

11th April 2012, Singapore, Singapore

i stayed at club floor and on both days, it is crowded and full. they should expand the floor area at club floor. breakfast spread is just average. the bell boys, standing in front of the hotel, does not provide much assistance to the guest. in 2 incidents, we wanted to go somewhere and showed the address to the bell boy named Boy. he flagged the taxi for us and did not attempt to negotiate the fare and simply tell us that the driver wanted a flat rate of 200baht whihc just cost 80B via meter. on day of check out, again he flagged taxi for us to airport and tell us to pay 400B. we refused and flagged our own meter taxi instead. He should at least, protect the interest of the guest and refused such flat rate requested by taxi driver.

Pullman Bangkok Hotel G ( Prior Sofitel Bangkok Silom): 5.0 out of 5 stars "Perfect location and friendly staff"

10th April 2012, Gothenburg, Sweden

Perfect location in down town Bangkok, frinedly and infomative staff. The only bad thing was the renovation work going on in the hotel entrance which guests should have been infomred about before arrival to the hotel.

Pullman Bangkok Hotel G ( Prior Sofitel Bangkok Silom): 4.0 out of 5 stars "Best rate to enjoy luxury stay in Bangkok"

29th March 2012, Hong Kong, China

I really enjoy to stay in this hotel; I am back again after my first stay in January. Breakfast is at European standard and above beside the bed comfort; great the newly open wine bar called Scarlet. Try it for some good wine; have fun.

Pullman Bangkok Hotel G ( Prior Sofitel Bangkok Silom): 4.0 out of 5 stars "New Hotel"

15th March 2012

This is a new hotel and very unique. Maybe I would describe it as "nouveau trendy". All the rooms were not open during our stay bur the room we were allocated was excellent and included free wifi, internet television and some free non alcoholic mini bar items. They have a good buffet available for breakfast/lunch/dinner and a marvellous restaurant on the top floor that has no menu. The principal is to discuss your eating wishes with the chef who shows you the daily fresh produce that is availble and offers some suggestions on food preparation. Seems strange but works very well. The staff are extremely welcoming and pleasant but as this is a new hotel they mostly have limited english language understanding. I am sure this will change quickly. If you are looking for something different this is the answer.

Pullman Bangkok Hotel G ( Prior Sofitel Bangkok Silom): 4.0 out of 5 stars "Excellent service !!"

8th March 2012, Busan, South Korea

For 2 stays, all of staffs were very friendly and kind. They were amasing !! and location is good as well 5min walking distance from BTS station and 15 min walking distance from Potpong street. and 20 min from Siam by taxi. The only thing I didnt enjoy was room condition. when I check-in, room was not clean enough. Even after they re-cleaning, there were still some dust and hairs on the floor and in the bathroom. and rign bell was brocken. But I enjoyed the staying in Sofitel silom very much.

Pullman Bangkok Hotel G ( Prior Sofitel Bangkok Silom): 3.0 out of 5 stars "Bathroom"

3rd March 2012, Bangkok, Thailand

The bathroom is not so good. The toilet bowl was not cleaned properly. The water did not go down properly in the shower room so there was water on the floor. If these problems have been solved, then this hotel will be one of the hotels in my recommendation list.

Pullman Bangkok Hotel G ( Prior Sofitel Bangkok Silom): 4.0 out of 5 stars "Great Bangkok Stay"

31st January 2012, Sydney, Australia

Although the hotel is under renovations, the service and friendliness of all staff were fantastic from check in to check out.If you have the chance book a room with club access which gives you priority check in, breakfast, afternoon tea, cocktails, etc daily which is great and well worth it.Dinner in the restaurant, buffet was amazing from the seafood, meat station where the chef cooks your selection om the grill, to the salads, cold meat oh and the dessert selection is amazing. The hotel is located on Silom road which is central, just jump in a cab, don't use the tuk tuks outside the hotel they try and scam you and want to take you to a gem store before your drop off so they get a fuel voucher, just use cabs. The rooms are nice, decent size, the usual amenities, very comfortable.

Pullman Bangkok Hotel G ( Prior Sofitel Bangkok Silom): 3.0 out of 5 stars "Not as good as expected"

I can't believe there is no teethbrush provided by a 5-star hotel, very disappointed! The hallway was very noisy on the last night of our stay, few people were talking very loudly. It was after 1am in the morning.

Pullman Bangkok Hotel G ( Prior Sofitel Bangkok Silom): 3.0 out of 5 stars "Good quality/price but room walls too thin . you can hear the kids and tv from your neighbour"

27th January 2012, Manila, Philippines

The Hotel lacked of personnality compare to what you normally get in a sofitel. I guess it was due to the work in progress, Sofitel to Pullman.... wish they would have let me know upon booking. Also the room are not as soundproof as they normally are so you can hear easily your neighbours TV.

Pullman Bangkok Hotel G ( Prior Sofitel Bangkok Silom): 3.0 out of 5 stars "Unexpected Stay"

13th January 2012, Adri5272, jakarta

Check-in process handled by trainee caused took so long more than 30 minutes I have to wait, luckily there is senior FO a gentlemen helps my check in for 3 rooms and very good cross selling by offering Sofitel Club benefits. Rooms are ok nothing special, only amenities in bathroom quite tempting: L'Occitane product. Without any inform to guest. suddenly on my 1sst night stay lobby being renovated, and there is no lobby anymore, very uncomfortable and all check in process located on 3rd floor. The worst of this hotel is FOOD, they served 90% are PORK, which we cant eat (we are moslem), and my 4 nights stay in this hotel, all breakfast menu are the same.....very boring, overall OK lah for stay in this hotel, quite chic and I stayed there because I am a fan of ACCOR Hotels.

Pullman Bangkok Hotel G ( Prior Sofitel Bangkok Silom): 3.0 out of 5 stars "This is not Sofitel luxury or service!"

5th January 2012, SharifRangnekar, New Delhi

This hotel is in desperate of learning what housekeeping is. On two days of a six night stay, my room was not cleaned or replenished despite having six to seven hours in the day to do that and the room clean up sign being on. And the second occasion was on December 31! The guest service person hardly sounded apologetic but made a false promise that the duty manager would call. I have stayed at many accor group hotels, this does not carry that standard. However, the pool side bar and restaurant on floor one are certainly good with a team that represents thai warmth and service. The same can be said for the reception.
