Check-in took forever, with no preference to Accor Gold Members, room upgrade request was not honoured

This was my 3rd stay in the past 1 year at Grand Mercure Roxy and I can definitely say this was the least impressive visit. Check-in took so much time - even though I had already communicated my check-in time in advance, still I was made to wait so much. The separate check-in kiosk for Accor Members had no person available. I had specifically requested for a upgrade in room, or if an upgrade was not possible, then a high floor room with Ocean View. That request was also not honored, I wasn't given a high floor, even though ocean view was made available.

I wait for room in the lobby more than 4 hours .room was not clean.

Great location, good service though no lotion in the room . 1st time that it wasn’t provided in a hotel . Room was spacious though we did opt for the bigger rooms .

Could be made better

The rooms were clean, however it was already showing signs of aging (given that the hotel is old). The rooms could use some sort of renovation or reformatting. This was also seen at the hallways, the smell of which I didn't specifically find to be pleasing. It smelled weird. The elevators were new though, so I commend that. As for the check-in experience, it was smooth because of our status with Accor. The check-in lady was friendly. Another thing I recommend to improve is the claiming of drinks for Accor members, I believe there was a bar/restaurant we could go to to claim it but it was only open for a short amount of time per day. As such we were forced to claim it at the lobby restaurant. But overall I was satisfied with my visit, some things could be better like the room condition and hallway condition, to the claiming of drinks for status members. Thank you to the staff for making my stay a pleasant one, and I hope to return in the future.
