"cold"
5th March 2013, vesnazakosek, Ljubljana, Slovenia
It was very cold: when we came the heating was off, one window had a 2x40 cm hole so we couldn't really warm the room up. We would complain to the receptionist but she only understood French, so there was no way to do it.
"good value"

Budget motel 15 minute walk from the old town. has it's own fenced in car park, Staff do not speak English but we managed with hand signals etc.You get what you pay for it's basic but clean and the breakfast was good value. T.V in room. Your given a number to punch into a keyboard for access at night.
"Warning - Although it states no smoking rooms people still smoke in them - horrible smell"
11th August 2012, nik007i, Kingston upon Thames, United Kingdom
A bit disappointed this hotel.. We went to check in for the first day and we were told to come back in 2 hours as their payment service was not working and we were waiting for 45 minutes only to be told this. We came back two hours later and finally got checked in a room which stank of smoke even though they are supposed to be NO SMOKING ROOMS. We complained to the same lady that failed to check us in the first time and she wanted to check for herself in regards to the smell. She said it didn't smell at all and refused to change our room even though it did and a gesture of goodwill was not presented to us after all the trouble we had. After careful persuation she agreed with a rather grumpy long face. Parking was also an issue, Flats surrounding hotel used to park their cars overnight leaving no space for hotel residents to park. A very poor service which is a sham as it is a good location.
"We wouldn't be staying here again"
28th July 2012
We stayed at this hotel for an overnight stop. It took 25 mins to check in even though we had booked and pre-paid for the room. The room was filthy dirty. The bunk had an old cardigan thrown on it, hairs all over the place - yuk! The very few surfaces that were there had never been dusted. The bathroom was not cleaned properly either, and the worst thing was the shower which had a leaking head - the drain was totally blocked (again never been cleaned) so we had to stand in dirty water while showering. All in all a very bad experience and we will not be using Etap hotels ever again.
"Good value hotel in centre of Boulogne"
13th June 2012, ferg17, Essex
Our family of 4 stayed here as a stopover to Western France. The good thing about this hotel was that it accomodated 4 people in the family rooms (normally the standard rooms only sleep only 3) which was perfect for us the the 2 kids. Our room had a double with bunk overhead plus an additional single bed.Hotel had the benefit of free car park to the side of the hotel (no height restrictions either).Boulogne's cafe/bars are within easy walking distance a couple of minutes away. Worth a mention was the Brussels Cafe in which we dined that evening. Excellant service and the food was good too.And the price of the hotel was excellant too. Would recommend.
"Short Break"
6th April 2012, Southend-on-Sea, United Kingdom
Stayed here for just one night on a short break to France for shopping and sightseeing. The hotel is well located near the centre of the town in a busy residencal road. So we asked for a room at the back of the hotel and this was very quiet as it looked on to a carpark for a block of residental flats. Etap rooms are very basic but functional for a short stay, our room was very clean and looked as though it had recently been refurbished. Hotel staff were very helpful and although they didn't speak much english we got by. They quickly provided two more pillows on request and supplied two towels which hadn't been put in our room. Good safe car parking adjacent to the hotel.
"One Night stay"

Just right for stop over on way home to England. Close to city centre. Only complaint is why do I have to complete 100 characters in the review
"Surprise with dirty bedding"
27th February 2012, Belo Horizonte, Brazil
It was good until we decided to jump in bed. As we pulled the douvet we saw that the linen had been used already (body hair and marks around the feet area). This was immediately reported to the administration who swiftly changed the room.In the morning, we had the surprise of a staff entering our room with his/her master code (probably didn't expect people to be in that room). Finally, we were told that we were supposed to leave the room at 11:30 AM, instead of 12:00 PM.
"my stay"
8th October 2011, Derby, United Kingdom
I found the hotel well situated for both the town and access around the area, rooms were well maintained and clean but would have liked some facility to make a hot drink etc, breakfast was fine though a little basic but all in all would not mind staying there again
"Avery good stopover hotel and good as a base for exploring the locality"
19th September 2011, Leon194z, Oswestry, United Kingdom
My wife and I have stayed at this Etap many times over the years. On the previous time we stayed here we had begun to feel that the hotel had become jaded. Since then, however, the hotel has had a makeover and as a result is a much, much nicer place to stay. The staff are very helpful and although the breakfasts on this latest visit was not as good as the Etap at Granville, nevertheless they are adequate. Centrally positions the hotel is a very good base, particularly for exploring the town. Friends and ourselves alike love exploring the old walled town a shortish distance away from the hotel. It is always difficult when you visit a town like Boulogne to know where to go for an evening meal. The old town has a number of restaurants and for many yeas we have always gone to one called La Scala. At one time we would have recommended it, however, just lately it seems to have gone downhill somewhat in terms of friendliness and also the chef not monitoring what he or she is serving. For example the smoked salmon on my wife's pizza this last time was extremely salty to be almost inedible. It is always reassuring when a hotel like the Etap in Boulogne sur Mer has a car park where guests can park their cars off the road. At one time the gate was operated by a code system which made for greater security. The last couple of times we have been the gate has remained open. Will we continue to go there on our trips to France, well most certainly.
