As a regular Ibis Hotel user, I have become used to the slight variations fron city to city and country to country. No brand can enforce identical performance and/or environment in radically different locations. The car parking here is free, by ticket issued at the hotel, in a pay-and-display car park, and the trick is to get to the reception and collect your pass before the car park company's security has a chance to issue a penalty I rang ahead on my mobile when 5 minutes away to let reception know I was arriving and to get precise parking directions (I recommend this if you are a first time visitor). Consequently they were prepared. If you travel with a partner, one can always stay with the car.Hotel location is on the main street surrounded by bars and retail, but I noticed no noise nuisance. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the room to the usual latest Ibis design; my only complaint there was the lack of a toilet brush in the shower/wc area.My only other complaint may be because of Carlisle's Borders location: the TV unit appeared to host the usual channel selection, except that 'BBC News 24' actually delivered the Scots-Gaelic language channel BBC Alba; this is by any estimate a minority channel of little interest to even most Scots, and certainly not worth junking News 24 for. Overseas visitors will be totally at a loss. Ibis and BBC please take note.

Hotel is located 5 Mins from railway station, a short walk from the main shopping area.Rooms are clean and airy with a large double bed. Shower & toilet were clean, with towels and shower gel supplied.Small sachets of tea, coffee & suger supplied.Booked on line for a better deal, although the 'no refund' for cancellation clause is a bit unfair!Staff were curteous & helpfull.Didn't try out the cafe/bar as we were going to a staff do. The menu seemed ok for price and variety
