"A Let Down"

I am not sure of the benefits of an Accor Membership and prebooking and pre paying for rooms.We checked in to the hotel on a Sunday evening and although there were probably no more than a dozrn guests we had been allocated the room with probably the worst view over a builder's yard. it appears to be policy to allocate the worst rooms first (to pre-payers). We did get the room changed after much persistence. The location is not good with no nearby services or restaurants.

Shabby & dated hotel.Uncommunicative staff. Threadbare carpets, especially on stairs.Dank smell. Wobbly WC seat (obviously present for a long time} No Restaurant.No BBC TV channels. Receptionist said that was a policy decision from Accor HQ. The hotel had to provide at least 12 French channels and that meant that we could not have BBC news. He said that Germans had also complained about lack of German TV.The Ibis at Auray is not like any other Ibis that we have used. it has the appearance of an old hotel that has been acquired by Accor and never updated.

A good value functional overnight hotel with a good restaurant available across the road for meals in the evening. Satisfactory breakfast . Ample parking. Friendly helpful staff.

The motel is located on an industrial park on the outskirts of Auray, close to an exit of the N165 Brest-Nantes road. Closeby are a McDonalds, and a LeClerc Hypermarket. It is a fairly typical IBIS. It appears to have come under IBIS management recently, and the rooms are slightly bigger than some IBIS. It does not have a restaurant, but there is a restaurant across the road, did not try it. The free internet worked well. One gripe for us with IBIS motels this year are the pillows. They are minute and rock hard and uncomfortable. A possible security concern is the car park. It is open to view from a busy main road with no gate.

We stayed for 3 nights while attending a wedding nearby. Room was adequate, a bit small for two dressing, but OK if you take turns. Was cleaned each day & clean sheets / towels installed each day too. No kettle, fridge, crockery or utensils. Bathroom was good, ample size & a good shower/bath setup. The food was expensive - breakfast £8 for coffee, cereal , croisants etc., and they charged us £ 9 for a small beer + a brandy . A few meals are available, but of the `instant` variety, ie. pizza / quiche / salad etc. We used the place as a dormitory only & ate out. For that it was reasonably good value on the long-weekend deal we had booked, £ 140 for the 3 nights.

Excellent all round hotel...clean& comfortable...good breakfast, pleasant owners and staff. Excellent restaurant opposite where we enjoyed our meal very much at a reasonable cost.Five stars. I can't find any more things to say and hope that this review is 200 characters long now......

Lovey hotel in a good location for Carnac stones. Hotel was clean and rooms were OK. Our only problem was, no food was served in the evening as the restaurant was closed (not given reason) and so was the restaurant opposite. A friendly receptionist gave us direction to eat in Aurray centre which was fine, but we really did not want to get in a car again after traveling all day.
