Sofitel Washington DC Lafayette Square: 1.0 out of 5 stars "A top class hotel in an excellent location."

19th May 2012, Woodstony00, Melbourne, Australia

hotel is located a block from the White House in a nice area with restaurants and cafes just across the road. It's easy to get to all other attractions from it. A top quality hotel with beautiful fittings and large rooms.Washington hotels are expensive overall so in relative terms this one isn't overpriced.

Sofitel Washington DC Lafayette Square: 5.0 out of 5 stars "Impeccable"

18th March 2012, Ataraxia_Me, Greensboro NC USA

I made reservations on-line through the hotels web site. Their price was the same as the aggregators. The ‘tip’ of the expected, service ‘ice-berg’ came a day or two before arrival via a very nice email note. That attention to detail was echoed throughout the stay. Check in was informative and warm. I lobbied for a quiet room and hotel staff was clear: if we did not like the room they would find another. We had a tenth floor room overlooking a major street (as if there are no minor streets in DC! ha-ha) and were concerned both for road noise and how dark the room could get we were not disappointed in either case. No noise windows and blackout curtains worked well. The room was smart and large enough for a 5 day stay. Elevators were fast and public areas crisp and clean. Sophisticated would be the correct descriptor. There seemed abundant staff from doormen to concierge and plenty of roving management that accepted each request as a matter of fact. Sofitel has one metro was very close and a metro center perhaps another block away. I had a sense this hotel catered to business but we were clearly vacationers and did not feel awkward in the least.

Sofitel Washington DC Lafayette Square: 5.0 out of 5 stars "Washington in winter"

16th January 2012, Darwin

January 2012-Washington is undergoing renovations..everywhere. But what can you expect, it's the middle of winter and not really visitor season. We loved Washington and had a great time. The hotel was excellent. We were lucky enough to have our room upgraded so had plenty of space for the three of us. The restaurant meals were delicious and the staff were friendly and efficient.I would have no hesitation recommending this hotel and would love to come back one day.

Sofitel Washington DC Lafayette Square: 5.0 out of 5 stars "Better than expected"

23rd September 2011, Sydney, Australia

We enjoyed this hotel, had a great room, and found that the hotel restaurant was hard to beat, both for the quality and price of the food. The downtown location was close to The White House and tourist bus stops. We would stay there again should the opportunity arise.

Sofitel Washington DC Lafayette Square: 5.0 out of 5 stars "Great location!"

3rd September 2011, shirlz99, Sydney, Australia

The hotel was within walking distance to all the attractions! Rooms were spacious and comfortable. There is a bike station just one block down, a great way to roam about the city. Staff were really friendly and helpful as well. Nothing bad to say about this hotel, maybe the price of the valet...

Sofitel Washington DC Lafayette Square: 4.0 out of 5 stars "First DC Visit"

6th August 2011, toronto

Service was excellent and staff were friendly and helpful. I have mixed feelings about the location of the hotel. It was very close to the White House and there were 2 subway stations nearby within a 5 minute walk. However, hotel seems to be in a quieter area and there were not a lot of amenities (convenient store, pharmacy or food options). The hotel room itself was very clean and well equipped (slippers, robe, hairdryer, bose sound system, room safe, etc). My only issue was with the glass shower door. It was either poorly designed or the weather stripping had eroded over time. Everytime I finished showering, there would be a huge pool of water outside the door and running down the tiles toward the toilet. I don't expect this from this hotel. Also, in this day and age, in room wi-fi should be complimentary. Overall though I would still recommend this hotel to others.

Management responseThank you for choosing us and taking the time to provide your feedback for your stay. We pride ourselves in our attention to friendly and personalized service, and I am happy that you experienced this. Given the downtown location of our hotel, we are just blocks from many tourist destinations, and also restaurant and convenience stores. There is a 24 hour CVS just 3 blocks away, one even closer with regular hours just across the park, and we have many restaurants, bars and lounges within walking distance. Our concierge is always available to point out these spots and assist guests with recommendations catered to their preferences. We are constantly rennovating and keeping up our rooms to ensure they are in perfect condition, so I am sorry that you experienced otherwise with the shower in your room. We have conducted thorough inspections to correct this. I hope you will join us again for your next visit to Washington as it would be a pleasure to welcome you back.Truly,Anna Chaley CrollGuest Relations Manager

Sofitel Washington DC Lafayette Square: 5.0 out of 5 stars "Service"

12th June 2011, pcbowman, Los Angeles

The service here was great. They were always very attentive and always went the extra mile. I have stayed here before but this time it reminded how great the service was because I stayed longer and after staying in other hotels on our 10 day trip I noticed how much attention to detail they have as a hotel.

Sofitel Washington DC Lafayette Square: 5.0 out of 5 stars "Great stay at a great location"

6th June 2011, truffles17, New York, NY

This hotel has great service where your every need is met. The staff are all very nice and friendly. The rooms are a good size and clean. The best part is how close it is to everything such as the White House and National Mall. We had a great stay!

Sofitel Washington DC Lafayette Square: 3.0 out of 5 stars "Overcharged"

6th May 2011, Cairns

On my stay we had drinks and meal in the bar, when checking out we were charged for mini bar (we didn't purchase anything just used the fridge to keep our fruit and yoghurt in). We questioned this on checkout and this was taked off the bill. After departure from Washington the meal and drinks was added on the credit card as was the meal and drinks (again) plus the mini bar. I called (approximate $20 US in calls) and requested a return call/email and yet to receive anything. Not happy the after stay service is non existant.

Management responseThank you for your recent stay with us, we appreciate your feedback. For our guests' convenience, our mini bars are automatic and time sensored so that they do not have to keep track of what they enjoy. We offer complimentary mini refrigerator upon request to keep personal items cool. It seems upon checkout some of the charges were removed and others were not. Please contact us directly and ask for the Front Desk Manager and we would be happy to look into this further for you. We hope to have the chance to welcome you back for your next trip to Washington, and we will be sure to make it a lovely one.Truly,Anna Chaley CrollGuest Relations Manager

Sofitel Washington DC Lafayette Square: 5.0 out of 5 stars "Incomparable"

31st March 2011, Chiago

The Sofitel Washington DC is quite likely the best Hotel in its class, location and all-around value. I have stayed in several hotels in central DC on more than one occasion, and none can top the Sofitel. The staff is impeccable, the service, amenities and rooms are beyond compare, in any case and particularly for the price.

Sofitel Washington DC Lafayette Square: 5.0 out of 5 stars "Could not have been better"

2nd February 2011, Travelcita

This hotel was excellent - perfect location, service and amenities. I travelled with three other colleagues and we all agree that this was the best hotel on every level in the DC area. We booked direct through the hotel's site and found that it was in deed the best value.Classic European style lodging with sophisticated service and staff.

Sofitel Washington DC Lafayette Square: 5.0 out of 5 stars "Mother and teenage daughter visiting sights"

16th December 2010, Tampa, Florida

We loved our second stay at this hotel, the staff are so friendly and the rooms very well appointed. The restaurant has outstanding cuisine and it is not necessary to eat out because of the many options, you would have so much to choose from on the menu. The proximity to White House and all the museums is excellent. Can't wait to go back!!
