"comfortable stay in a nice hotel"
30th March 2012, Cologne
we enjoyed our stay in this centrally located hotel. the room was very clean and comfortable. liked the bed very much and the fact that you can have a quiet sleep in the city center. breakfast was good, haven´t found the time to check the pool unfortunately. people at the reception were very friendly and supportive.

"Great staff!"
9th March 2012, Citreon92, Sussex
As a disabled guest, I usually find Novatel staff helpful with the extra bits and pieces I sometimes need, and they really stepped up to the plate. I was a little disappointed with this new Novatel - I stay in Novatel's a lot, and the room wasn't anything to write home about, given it's a 4* hotel; and there was an unpleasant smell in reception which was to do with the drains I expect...But I had a tendon strain (happens occasionally) which makes walking very difficult and painful - very worrying given I was away from home and didn't know anyone bar my business contacts.Staff were great - helped with all the practical stuff such as moving bags, finding a physio so i could get a treatment, leaving my room empty so I could return after the treatment and rest up; and generally constantly checking that i was OK and things were as OK as they could be. Really good stuff - I was very grateful for their help and care.

"Nice Hotel"
18th February 2012, York, United Kingdom
The hotel had a good and modern feeling. The staff where very friendly and the service was very good. We had no complaints with the room. The hotel was about 10-15 minutes walk from the main shopping area.

"Great hotel in great location"
26th January 2012, Galashiels
The only reason I haven't given this hotel a five for sleep quality was that we were in a top floor room on a very windy couple of nights and we had a considerable amount of rattiling from the roof . The bed was very comfortable and otherwise room very quiet. Nice helpful staff.

"Comfortable and good location"
26th January 2012, ScottishFiddle, Scotland
I have stayed in this hotel before and have found it to be clean and comfortable. Staff are very pleasant and helpful. Service at the bar for drinks and food was very slow but there was a large party of us and, given that there was hardly anyone else there, I suspect we took the hotel by surprise. If you are watching your alcohol intake, make sure you ask for a small glass of wine otherwise you will get 250ml. Food at the bar and in the restaurant (breakfast and dinner) was nice. I didn't use the pool but it looked very inviting. I think £15 to exit the car park is steep. If you were using Edinburgh as a base to travel Fife or the Borders, it could prove to be costly. We just left the car there for the weekend and paid when we left.

"Not worth the money"
6th January 2012
Despite located near the main Edinburgh attraction, there isn't really anything great about the hotel based on my latest experience. I made a reservation for 4 people (2 adults 2 children), and I called few hours before we arrived to confirm my arrival time. when we checked in, the second bed (sofa bed) was not prepared and I even have to ask the hotel to deliver extra bed sheet, pillows, blanket, and towels. The room was hot, and there isn't temperature control in the room. and I would say the room is too small for the 4 of us.If I have to turn back the clock, I would have stayed at Premiers Inn next door...better value.

"holiday base"
8th September 2011, Swansea, United Kingdom
clean, modern hotel, close to centre of Edinburgh. Expensive to park in side street and had to wait for a space in car park underneath hotel. Breakfast an expensive extra. Staff willing to exchange quilt fo lighter blanket. No free wifi in room - had to go to reception to access web.

"Rated on actual stay and not the loss off a prepaid room"
3rd September 2011, Nhulunbuy
The ratings are based on the actual stay as the Hotel met all the criteria well. It was pleasant, location great, staff friendly and room great. That said, understand our dissapointment to arrive and be informed the room we had prepaid months ahead was not available. Initial references to a system fault gave way to admission of double booking and we were sent to other accom' for the evening only to relocate again the next day. the suggestion that we should ring ahead to confirm the booking was ludicrous given it was fully prepaid (confirmed).
