« Buenos Aires Pleasure Trip »

I have stayed at a variety of hotels ( from Relais and Chateaux to 3 star economy ) in many countries, and Sofitel Buenos Aires stands out as the most special experience in hotel hospitality that I have ever experienced. I had an accident on the fourth day of my visit, ( a broken foot), and the concierge arranged for me to be taken to The German Hospital ER, where I had minimal wait time, because the Sofitel had called ahead, and the hospital was expecting me. Everyone on the staff, from the doormen to the manager has the highest quality of graciousness and accommodation. I plan to use the Sofitel chain whenever I travel henceforth.

« Our Only Place to Stay in BA »

This was our 9th year in a row staying at the Sofitel Arroyo. We would never think of staying any place but. It is located in a great quiet neighborhood, yet within walking distance to many of the sights, stores, restaurants, and Subte. It is a beautiful property, but what makes it special is the people who work there. They ALL go out of their way to provide the highest service and client satisfaction. You never feel like an imposition. Rather any guest feels welcome. We feel like the Sofitel is our home in BA. Plus the hotel has a great restaurant, Le Sud, which has to be the finest in the city. One can tell that the management holds the highest standards for its staff and hotel. The Sofitel Arroyo is simply the best.

« Poor Quality and Disappointment of Service at Sofitel »

I stayed at the Sofitel in Buenos Aires for seven nights. I have visited multiple Sofitel locations in various countries including New York, Turkey, Vietnam, Washington DC, London, and have thoroughly enjoyed the service, prestige, and exceptional service and hotel environment. This was very different at the Sofitel in Arroyo. I gave the hotel two stars because the room was very spacious and charming. The service in the restaurants though was pretty good. If not for the rooms it would have been a rating one star. The service at this hotel is very poor. Staff are not friendly and do not have the knowledge or choose not to assist guests with common questions such as directions to restaurants, assistance with room accommodations, etc. In addition, the housekeeping is below average. I had to ask every day for dirty dishes to be removed from my room, garbage to be collected, dirty towels to be removed even after housekeeping cleaned the room, etc. Used washed cloths and sponges were left in my room from the previous guest when I checked in. My coffee machine broke four times and I had to ask constantly for someone to fix the machine. I was not offered an upgrade as per my Accor status I should have and the hotel staff seemed more bothered to assist guests. The most disappointing item was constantly asking the concierge for information on buses and trains. One concierge in general would just not answer me in English or Spanish on how to buy a new Subte card or how to get one filled. I asked him three times for this information on separate days and he did not either know or want to assist me. Every request to a hotel staff made me feel that I was asking them to do a chore or that it was a inconvenience to them. The hotel clearly does not cater to international business guests or the typical clientele that one would see at a Sofitel in other countries. I am utterly surprised that the Sofitel chain would offer such low quality of service. I booked a higher price suite at this hotel and its not worth the money.

« A very comfortable stay »

At the start of our holiday we spent 3 nights in a standard room (included in a tour package) that we found comfortable but cramped. What a difference the Superior Room made on our return. On both visits we found all staff very friendly and helpful, with most speaking good English.

One of the best Sofitel hotels I have ever stayed in. It's centrally located, very safe neighborhood (Recoleta area) and the service level is quite exceptional. The staff are always ready to attend to your needs.

« Somewhat disappointing »

The building itself was elegant and our Suite Prestige was comfortable and spacious, although we had no view. Our lunch at Le Sud was excellent and the server, Wael, was charming and professional. We felt the set lunch menu was good value as well. On a negative note, the doormen seemed somewhat disinterested in assisting us which was particularly notable as my mother was walking with a cane. The major problem was an unexpected charge for an extra bed despite the fact that our booking had been made for 3 adults on the Sofitel website and there was no mention of any extra charge at the time of booking. The clerk at reception was unwilling to bend on this, and as we were tired after traveling we ended up paying it. (Incidentally, a similar problem arose earlier in our time in Buenos Aires at the Alvear Palace Hotel but was handled completely differently; the front desk there immediately assured us after reviewing the printed booking confirmation that there would be no extra charge for an extra bed for the third person.) Finally, at the time of checkout I was presented with a verbal quote of the total charge in pesos and given a credit card slip to sign - BEFORE being given any sort of itemized statement of the room charges, taxes, etc. This in itself was highly irregular and the confusion was further compounded when the clerk realized he had forgotten to charge me for the second night and had to run my credit card again! This sort of service is certainly not up to 5-star standards. If I return to Buenos Aires, I will stay at the Alvear again rather than the Sofitel as the former is far superior in every respect.

« Best experience in a long time »

Just completed a wonderful 6 night stay at Sofitel Buenos Aires with my wife. The service quality and friendliness of the staff are amazing. Want to give a special shout out for Maria, the brilliant concierge, and Juan, the most helpful receptionist you can imagine. The room was very comfortable and clean. Breakfast is delicious and includes a well presented buffet as well as plenty of a-la-carte items. Room Service is quick and professional. We are sure to return for another treat! Location is good. Close to Retiro train station. Walking distance to good restaurants and shopping. A cab to Puerto Madero will set you back 30 Pesos.
