ibis Newcastle: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Over night stay at Ibis Newcastle"

23rd May 2012

Stayed overnight at the Ibis in Hunter Street Newastle. Excellent location right in the heart of town. Amenities - rooms, neat and clean, restaurant/bar comfortable and good service at reception and during our stay! Good value too...!

ibis Newcastle: 4.0 out of 5 stars "To attend wedding and visit Newcastle"

9th May 2012, castlephilip, Brisbane, Australia

It was a positive stay and the staff service was excellent. It would have been good to have access from the harbour side as when we walked back we had to go up via the road. Also it would have been kinder to allow discounted parking behind the hotel as $10 a night was a bit steep. You can't do anything about this but that end of Hunter Street is a bit daggy so hopefully it will be improved to match the eastern areas more. It was an interesting stay and we enjoyed walking around the city, harbour, building and beaches. The city shops were a bit quite on Sat morning. The room size was a fraction small but we weren't in it much so it was not a problem. Thanks for a good stay,Philip Castle

ibis Newcastle: 5.0 out of 5 stars "Very enjoyable Stay"

ibis Newcastle: 3.0 out of 5 stars "Great location but very basic"

26th April 2012, Sydney

We stayed at the Ibis Newcastle in April 2012. The location of the hotel is perfect and there is parking available. Check in and service was good. The rooms are extremely small but are clean and do have a flat screen TV. The bathrooms are the biggest downfall as they are half way between a hospital bathroom and an Aeroplane bathroom. The room is fine for a short stay however I would never stay longer than 2 nights. Definitely don't stay here if you get clostraphobic!

ibis Newcastle: 4.0 out of 5 stars "An excellent Experience"

22nd April 2012, Megcorlis, Dorrigo, Australia

We found the experience , a pleasant experience and would stay at Ibis Newcastle again all the staff where helpful and courteous and went out of the way to assist us what we asked or required

ibis Newcastle: 4.0 out of 5 stars "What a great little find!"

22nd April 2012, Doctor623, Sydney, Australia

What a great little find this Hotel is! From beginning to end I had a fantastic experience. My stay could not have been more pleasant. It was more like a family-run boutique hotel than a chain hotel at the cheaper end of the market. The staff could not have done more for me, the room was great and spotless, the food fantastic. Nothing I could have needed was overlooked and when I requested assistance with one or two things it was given with grace and pleasure and I was not hurried at all. I loved being able to open the window in my room and breathe real air! Hope I need a reason to return in the very near future!

ibis Newcastle: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Small rooms but well priced"

20th April 2012, salesrepman, Geelong, Australia

Ibis is the only Accor hotel now the Mecure is closed, but does the job at a pretty cheap price. Meals are very inexpensive and pretty quick service. Rooms a bit small but not too bad overall

ibis Newcastle: 3.0 out of 5 stars "Not our greatest stay"

19th April 2012, julliettekallip, Sydney

Having stayed at this hotel twice before we had enjoyed our previous experience and had high expectations. Upon arriving, we had to pay for our parking which had been previously free. We wanted some lunch and all that was offered was a grab and go menu, with not much on it. Whilst eating our lunch we were interrupted by the staff having their meeting and discussing their lives such 'safe speeding' etc and two of them proceeded to smoke outside the facility which is unprofessional. The room was neat and tidy. We were disappointed that every time we sat on the bed it rolled off the wall and the pillows were so flat, it was not worth sleeping on. Their acini ties are basic, we had good reception for tv etc.At dinner, we had previously dined on an a la carte menu. But fri to sun that wasn't available. This seemed absurd as it would be a prime time to sit and have a drink and meal. We went somewhere else. The breakfasts in the morning are good considering the 2 for 1 value with our Accor card. You get toast, condiments, spreads, coffee machine, toaster, some muesli an cereal, hot breakfast and you could get your eggs poached etc. not bad, but limited for those who eat gain free. Overall the staff were friendly when needed. Things could be improved to meet he standard previously encountered at this hotel.

ibis Newcastle: 2.0 out of 5 stars "Disappointed"

19th April 2012, Jellyfish1971, Ipswich, Australia

The size of the room was tiny, I would compare it to a size of room at one of the Formula One chains. There was an extremely strong sewage smell which got worse during the course of the first night, we were lucky to be given a new room however I would have expected something for the inconvenience.

ibis Newcastle: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Holiday in Newcastle"

14th April 2012, Lesen, Quakers Hill, Australia

This is our second visit to your hotel. Room & bathroom was clean, but there was no bath mat & extra bath towel for the child. After informing the reception staff the problem was fixed. For the following days the ex towels & the mat was placed each day. Reception staff needs to be aware of the local knowledge in the area (restaurants & places of interest). The night Manager David was very helpful & courteous regarding guest needs (dining out, visit place ex).

ibis Newcastle: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Good choice"

11th April 2012, Sydney, Australia

Reasonable price and friendly staff made stay enjoyable. Rooms were very tidy and quiet. Hotel was close to railway station but noise was not a factor.

ibis Newcastle: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Reflections on Accor Newcastle"

4th April 2012, Sydney, Australia

Overall a good experience. The lift floor needed shampooing and vacuuming, and the scrambled egg at breakfast was a bit cold, but hey -- all good!

ibis Newcastle: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Great Location"

29th March 2012, MissTalita, Sydney

This Ibis is perfectly located for the Honeysuckle precinct and Newcastle centre, close enough to drive to the beach and walking distance to a major shopping centre.

ibis Newcastle: 5.0 out of 5 stars "IBIS Newcastle"

ibis Newcastle: 3.0 out of 5 stars "Ibis is the Ibis!"

26th February 2012, Carol255331, Tamworth, Australia

Anyone who stays at the Ibis knows that all Ibis are virtually the same. I chose this accommodation because family were staying at the Grand Mercure which was 200m away.We arrived at 9.30 pm & having paid for a carpark, drove around and discovered there were non available. We parked in adjoining business carpark. The next morning I mentioned this & the fee was refunded. We had a light meal at the restaurant which was very basic, but nice.

ibis Newcastle: 2.0 out of 5 stars "Not the best"

22nd February 2012, NSW

Small room (nowhere to sit down). Had clearly booked for three but only a room for three was provided. Noisy air conditioner . Not the best hotel I've stayed in - only slightly better than the Formule 1 a few kms away but cost 70% more.

ibis Newcastle: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Ibis Newcastle Hotel"

16th February 2012, Wollongong

This is a very practical Hotel which gives good value for money. The location is a bit of a drawback as there are not any good dining options close by. The staff were very friendly and helpful. It was disappointing that the restaurant was not open on Friday night. It is only open for dinner Monday to Thursday.Overall, it is good value for money

ibis Newcastle: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Newcastle Ibis"

15th February 2012, Orange NSW Australia

This Motel was reasonabley priced and is in a very central location. We received polite and very good service at front counter and the room was clean & comfortable. The motel was easy to find in Hunter Street and there was secure parking at the rear. Overall the Motel was good value for money.

ibis Newcastle: 3.0 out of 5 stars "Friendly staff"

7th February 2012

Very friendly and helpful staff. Comfy beds but old carpet. Small, clean bathroom. Breakfast $18 seemed expensive so we didn't eat there. Restaurants and cafes 15 min walk and beaches at least 30 min walk.

ibis Newcastle: 3.0 out of 5 stars "Our stay at Ibis Newcastle"

24th January 2012, Brisbane, Australia

Well located in the centre of Newcastle and a good deal.We were disappointed with the service of the check in staff. I was initially told that we would not all fit into the rooms that I had booked despite me booking via the Accor website and indicating ages of children. Due to the public holiday, not many of the rooms had been cleaned so we were allocated rooms down the hall from each other - I had assumed that when planning which rooms to clean, bookings for that night would have been considered. The staff member who showed us to our room was very helpful and solved our bedding issue as best as he could. The staff member on the counter at checkout was friendly and genuinely interested in our stay. Just goes to show how a first impression can easily colour a judgement.

ibis Newcastle: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Clean and tidy"

16th January 2012, Warana, QLD Australia

The Hotel was clean and quiet. Staff were very helpful. Although the rooms are small they're fitted with everything you need for a sleep. The bathrooms are a bit like a poly water tank filled with fitting and the shower is small. You get what you pay for and this case you get a great deal.
