"More like an IBIS than a Mercure"
1st May 2012, SeaRider, Isle of Man
Rather basic place, frequented by groups who, I suspect, pay a lot less than me but makemore noise. This place has little class unlike most other Mercures, no mini-bar/fridge and parking not easy either - and this out of season! heaven help motorists in summer....Though the bed (unlike the room) is large, it is not comfortable as the mattress has a pattern underneath that you feel each time you move.Staff are helpful but someone made an error as one afternoon we returned at 15.30 to find a decorator in our room! Not sure who was most surprised, him or us - we had to wait downstairs for 15 mins whilst he finished his (unexpected/unneeded/unasked) work. Staff seemed puzzled how this happend, but (on request!) gave us a free coffee whilst we waited for our room to be habitable. Breakfast is not bad at all but not worth the price asked unless you have an inclusive rate - or you are in a group stay! This is NOT a hotel for discerning clientele, we will not be returning, nor recommending to stay there. A dissappointing experience, not worth €100 per night.

The location is excellent expecially when parking is arranged. The staff are friendly and efficient, and the rooms well equiped and clean. Bathroom and shower facilities are modern, light and roomy. The breakfast is very good, providing variety and quality at a keen price. In all we found found the hotel to be the perfect place to relax after a long journey, and to recharge for the next stage of the voyage. Thank you all very much indeed.
"My stay in St Malo"
11th August 2011, Shrewsbury UK
We were due to return to UK on the morning ferry so we thought it would be a good idea to stay overnight in St Malo. Our previous experience with Mercure Hotels was OK so we chose to stay there. I was particularly keen to have parking available and it was clearly advertised on the web. So I booked. The hotel was much as expected and I have no complaints about the service or the standard of the room. However, the parking I expected did not exist. There was free parking all around but on a Sunday afternoon we had to park 1500 metres away and it was raining heavily. Not a happy bunny!
"optimal choice for St Malo"

Very good hotel in good position: good rooms and beds, everything as requested, good breakfast, helpful and welcoming staff. Just be aware that their private parking is very small and only has 4 places: so you'll probably have to look for a public place nearby -- not a terrible problem, however, since public places are available in all the roads around: perhaps at rush hour it might be difficult to find one, but I never had problems in the morning (before noon) and evening (after 7pm). Funny thing: the electric window in my room had the switches inverted, so pressing the up button moved the window down.. typical Breton joke? :)
