"Saint Malo Etap"
20th May 2012, 228Pat, Leeds, United Kingdom
A one night stay before return ferry to Portsmouth. Etap hotels are much the same anywhere in France, so you know what to expect. In St Malo Etap, everything was fresh and clean, and the rooms seemed to have been totally re-fitted recently. Reception was helpful regarding suggesting a nearby restaurant for our evening meal; it was about 15 minutes walk away. Some noise in corridors outside our rooms during the evening, but all seemed quiet after 11pm. Some traffic outside, but this was not a problem. There is some residents parking outside the hotel, but having all our luggage in the car we opted to pay for parking in the secure hotel garage across the road.
"Clean and airy rooms"

The Etap Hotel in St Malo is conveniently located to walk to the old town of St Malo. There is plenty of free car parking spaces near the hotel, in Parking Rue Godard. The surrounding streets at the back of the hotel are very pleasant, and lead directly into St Malo Centre. The rooms are freshly painted, of a relaxing green and white colour. Very clean room and bathroom. Very good lighting with different atmospheres possible. The shower head had lovely green and blue lights, depending on the water temperature!
"Not satisfied"
2nd May 2012, buxel, Wiesloch, Germany
Construction work starting before 9:00 for the whole day, very loud and smelling. No remote control for TV in room 301, no bath floor towel, doors are not closing automatically (Rooms 301, 302), towels are very old, had holes and poor quality. No hair dryer, to less toilette paper, waste bin to small. One bed without real hygenic blanket. One bed not refreshed on the second day. Door opener in bathrooms not working.
"one night stopover"

Stayed one night whilst travelling in normandy and brittany area of France. Was a llittle apprehensive as some previous reviews werent so good but as it was just one night and a reasonable price took the chance. No need to have worried, rooms must have recently been refurbished as clean, modern and comfortable. Nice television, new bathroom suite with a showerhead that changed colour according to water temperature. Comfortable double bed with a bunk bed attached for a 3rd person. Good location, 5minutes from the old town inside the walls by car. Parking was chargeable if went into their private garage but lady on reception said it was fine to park in the hospital opposite the hotel overnight so this wasnt a problem. No food available in the evening in hotel, just snacks from a vending machine so visited the old town for a meal. You can have breakfast if required which is chargeable. Can recommend the Lion D'Or restaurant inside the walls, excellent meal. Would definitely stay there again.
"great value and convenience"

just: great value and very convenient; and a particularly warm and helpful Receptionist (Luydmilla?) ... would definitely stay again there and elsewhere, and recommend to others as good basic accommodation
"Our overnight before crossing to Portsmouth"
8th September 2011, Milnthorpe
This is a very convenient hotel for the port. There is , however no place to eat nearby and one has either to walk into St Malo or drive in a heavily loaded car, only to have to find a parking space once more. (or of course return to the garage). We did open the window for a little cool fresh air and were very aware of the traffic noise;
"Value for Money"
2nd June 2011, olgapolovski, york
On the positive 'excellent' 99% On the negative not so easy to find from the ferryport and no bars/restaurants within the area only a fifteen minute walk away. However, the 15 minute walk was worth it as we found the Brittanic Hotel where the food, ambience, service were also excellent and good value.
"A Pleasant Overnight Stay"
3rd May 2011, Newcastle upon Tyne UK
Good value for money.Very friendly, helpful receptionist.Room clean and adequate, although the bed was perhaps rather firmer and less comfortable than we are used to.On the whole I would recommend this hotel to anyone.Particularly useful for anyone looking to break their journey either prior to, or subsequent to taking the cross Channel ferry,as it is so near the ferry terminal
"Excellent Night's Stay"
31st December 2010, Calne
We have stayed at Etap Hotels in the past and will continue to do so. The hotel is nicely positioned for the centre of St Malo, ferry port and also the old town. All are within walking distance - about half an hour to the old town, although we may have taken the slightly longer route! Outside the hotel there was plenty of free on road parking. There are some spaces right outside but you may have to be prepared to park around the corner. The service we received was excellent and the room lived up to previous Etap experiences; it was clean, warm, and we had an excellent night's sleep. It was nice to have the option of a bath too, as previous hotels have just had a shower. We didn't have breakfast on this occasion as we ate later on the ferry. We fully intend to make use of St Malo's Etap in the future. We combined this trip with the Christmas market. The lights in the Old Town were beautiful, but don't leave it too late to go shopping as everything closed at 7.00pm, including some restaurants and cafes.
"Quality short stay hotels"
27th December 2010, St Bonnet sur Gironde 17150
On a par with other ETAP hotels I have used in France. The bonus for St Malo was the availability of garaging, it did snow that night and the temperature was below freezing! The coffee and bread was very fresh. Good value for money and we will stay again in the future.
