ibis Preston North: 3.0 out of 5 stars "Average in every way"

12th May 2012, TheShopFitter, Filey, United Kingdom

Everything here was average!Very annoyed at check-in when the key card didn't work 3 times before receptionist finally got off his backside and dealt with the issue properly! I've better things to do than run up and down 2 flights of stairs with my bags trying to get into the room I'd paid for! Nice enough pub next to the hotel which was handy, it did food which was affordable but also very average.Very handy for M6 Preston area.Would probably stay again if price was right!

ibis Preston North: 3.0 out of 5 stars "Standards Dropped"

18th April 2012, Rob9153, Bournemouth, United Kingdom

We have stayed at this hotel on & off over the last few years. Normally standards are sound and represent good value for the money. On this occasion they ran out of milk for breakfast on one day, although not advertised alternative pillows are normally available, there were none, cold plates for a hot breakfast does not work and there was no All-Bran. The last is a very personal taste but if you advertise it in the room it should be available. The double glazing, we were on the car park side, is no longer as effective as it should be. I will be researching alternatives before staying here again.

Management responseI am sorry that on this occasion you were disappointed with your stay at ibis Preston North. I treat all feedback with the utmost seriousness and I am currently investigating the matter. The breakfast we serve offers a selection of cereals, I apologies if the choice was not to your liking. Extra pillows are available on the top of the wardrobe and at reception if requested. Unfortunately we have never heated the plates for breakfast; however I am looking into this, thank you kindly for this suggestion. I hope in the future you will give us a chance to provide you with a hassle free stay.Kind Regards Beverley Derbyshire

ibis Preston North: 2.0 out of 5 stars "Good sized clean room, but poor value for money in comparison to other big chain hotels"

10th April 2012, ginger_charlie, Hertfordshire

We were initially impressed with the room size which was larger than equivalent rooms in other big chain hotels, and it was very clean. There were multiple issues however, but I must stress that as our stay was very fleeting (late arrival, early start) we were unable to offer staff the opportunity to rectify the faults. The room was extremely cold, with only a thin duvet provided, and the bed sagged badly in the middle. The shower tray barely drained, and the hairdryer didn't work - in fact the PAT sticker on this was dated as running out 2008!The biggest disappointment however was the breakfast. At £7.50 per person I didn't expect luxury, but there was no staff at all on hand, and the offerings - luke warm beans and eggs, cheap slice bread presented in the bag, packets of cheese and cereal etc - were poor and certainly didn't include the "local produce" boasted on the website.

Management responseI am sorry that on this occasion you were disappointed with your stay at Ibis Preston North.. I treat all feedback with the utmost seriousness and am currently investigating the matter. The breakfast we offer has a wide selection of fresh produce from Cooked to Continental, I can only apologise that this was not up to your exportations. PAT testing is completed yearly; we were last PAT tested 2011. I hope you will give us the opportunity in the future to provide you with a hassle free stay.Kind RegardsBeverley Derbyshire

ibis Preston North: 2.0 out of 5 stars "noisy hotel"

27th February 2012, letchworth

Though as good as you would expect with a Ibis hotel (basic but clean with friendly staff) I had a terrible night sleep due to very hot rooms (we were expieriancing unseasonally warm weather) and the motorway right outside the bedroom window with constant ambulance sirens going past due to the close proximity of a local hospital. So I had a choice of not sleeping due to a swealteringly hot room or opening the window to cool down but then not able to sleep due to the constant noise outside.

Management responseI am sorry that on this occasion you were disappointed with your stay at Ibis Preston North. All rooms within that side of the hotel are fitted with 2 sets of window; on many occasions we are complimented on how quite the hotel is given the location, unfortunately this was not one of those occasions, and I would like to apologise again. If you choose to use us in the future you can request a room on the other side of the hotel away from the motorway. Kind regards Beverley Derbyshire

ibis Preston North: 3.0 out of 5 stars "Our stay at Ibis"

8th October 2011, Bristol, United Kingdom

We found the rooms very hot it was good to leave the window open but this meant that there was a lot of noise from the motorway. The room was clean and we had a very tasty breakfast buffet. The beds were comfy and a nice cot was provided for our child.

Good hotel if you want somewhere close to Preston centre and have a car. Easy to park. I like the breakfast. We use it when we are dropping our daughter at University as we live 5 hours away. Good value for money.

ibis Preston North: 4.0 out of 5 stars "I hate smokers"

7th October 2011, Girvan, United Kingdom

This is a great hotel. The only problem is that people (especially staff) stand talking in the car park by the front door while they have their nicotine fix in the early hours of the morning. Their conversation and laughter can be heard by all rooms on that side of the hotel.

ibis Preston North: 5.0 out of 5 stars "Excellent!"

1st August 2011, onchan

My partner and i were on our honeymoon travelling for two weeks on our motorbikes. We were very concerned about leaving our bikes in unknown places. Without us even asking the receptionist gave us a ground floor room and allowed us to park in (an unused) disabled space directly outside the room we were staying. We were so greatfull for this as it gave us great peice of mind and gave us a good night kip. We also used the tv box office option to see a new film which was a nice end to a hectic travelling day.

A nice clean hotel with a good priced room. Dont understand this day and age why wifi access is so expensive £9.99 for the evening? I pay that for 1 months home use.Breakfast was good, but an extra cost. Would of been nice to be included inthe room price.

Great locationj. very clean and friendly, helpful staff.Only reason for downgrading sleep was because there were lots of dogs and their owners in for a show the next day and the dog nearest me wouldn't stop barking till gone 1AMRecommended higly regardless of that

Easily found well located hotel modern and clean has restaurant and pub next door.We did not use the restaurant choosing the pub which was cheap and cheerfull.Hotel was good value reception staff male was not helpfull wanting me to leave credit card details although I had pre paid and am an Accor card holder (I work for a Bank so this is not something I would do) his female colleague was more helpfull and said it was OK as we had prepaid.

ibis Preston North: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Excellent stop over location for M6 drivers."

7th March 2011

Regularly stay for one night stop over to break up long distance drive (usually arriving very late ) . Excellent access to / from M6 and very quiet despite its location next to Motorway Junction.Staff are very efficient yet friendly at all hours of day and night!Excellent buffet breakfast although we haven't tried any of their bar meals.Booking in advance is essential to get best rates and it can get very full if sporting events are on near by.

ibis Preston North: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Comfortable room at good value price"

23rd February 2011, Peterborough

The hotel is situated next to junction 1 of M55 so is conveniently placed for travellers. The staff are helpful and courteous and the rooms clean and comfortable. The winter prepay special price offer is very good value. The only disappointment is the failure to be credited with Aclub points earned despite numerous requests by phone and in person and endless form filling.
