The hotel is brilliantly located ; close to some good bars and restaurants - the Thai across the road was brilliant as was the cocktail bar. The Staff at the hotel were helpful and friendly- thank you to them all.

The first night we were in a room which was adjacent to a busy road and traffic was busy all night, we explained to the desk staff and they had NO HESITATION in moving us to a quieter room. We were very appreciative of this!

Better than budget

This IBIS is better than the basic budget hotels, yet competitively priced compared to other brands you might consider. The location is convenient, easily accessible by road and with good facilities nearby. There is sufficient free parking on site, plus an EV charge point for those that require it. The down side of the easy access by road is the main road outside, so there is some noise audible but I never found it to be intrusive. On arrival, and in fact throughout my stay, the staff were cheerful and helpful - I do believe they enjoy working for the company and make a great team. My room was perfectly serviceable as you expect for the price point, with a fairly modern minimalist design. Everything worked as it should. There was a well-stocked hospitality tray plus pillow menu. TV in the room, large shower in the bathroom. Desk plus separate coffee table, but only one chair so it is necessary to move the chair across - that does force a stop to working in the evening. A desk lamp would be useful. Everything was clean, but I would say the carpet was in need of replacement. I found the bed comfortable enough for a good night's sleep and no noise from adjoining rooms. My room was comfortably warm on arrival, so I switched off the heater, and I was able to leave the window slightly open without the road noise being a concern. The curtains were nice and heavy so the room was dark. The bar serves evening meal, though I found the menu to be rather limited, the quality was good for the price-point. Machine-served hot beverages are available free of charge, which is a nice touch. Breakfast in the morning was fully self-service. My coffee was good quality. Cooked breakfast was really nice, done with quality ingredients and not in any way greasy. Cereal and continental options are also available. All in all, I can't really fault it. New carpets in the bedroom would be great. I hope my stay was typical as I have six more trips to Chesterfield coming up and, based on this first stay, I have booked in here again for all of the scheduled trips.

I used to choose Ibis hotels as my go-to choice of overnight accommodation at short notice because of my confidence that I would find a clean and well maintained room. After my visit this week in Chesterfield that confidence is gone and Ibis has lost a customer. I don’t need to say more.
