Very clean hotel,staff very friendly and lovely breakfast.I stay here about every 3/4 weeks for 1 one night on business.

"Beds are a Bust!"

In general terms the hotel was what I expected and the location was perfect for what we were doing in the area. However the bed situation was terrible....I want to ask the owners/managers "would you have abed like that in your home?"....The bed in one room had a box spring which was not covered in any way, shape or form! On top of the box spring was a 2" foam topper with bed sheets wrapped around....pillows were hopeless. In the second room we had there was not even a 2" foam topper! We asked for one and it was brought up....but we had to remake the bed since there was no room service after 4pm. I was told that the mattress and the box spring was a single unit...perhaps it was but that was no excuse for not having some sort of fitted cover over the box spring especially when there were stains on the surface. I've stayed in hotels all over the world and never had a bed without a covered mattress......come to think of it I've never had a 2" foam topper that was passed off as the mattress either. I would have left the first night if it were not for the location....

The mattress is actually build in to the bed. We are in the process of upgrading the beds. Therefore some of them have already extra mattress topper on top of the bed. Please note that we will be getting covers on the bed too. "good value, generally fine"

The rooms of this hotel are clean and quiet. But a bit humid and cold. The heating is manually controlled powered by electricity therefore sometimes not so efficient and comfortable. Breakfast is just fine. Not many options to choose from but acceptable for the price. It's a bit distant to the city but doesn't matter to me as I drove by.

"Ibis Cardiff Gate"

The service was excellent with reception staff pleasant and very helpful. On arrival we were asked if we preferred the ground floor and when we said, ' Anywhere fairly quiet would be good, please', were allocated a room on the first floor at the back with nothing noisy outside. The receptionist sorted a booking for us at an Etap for a future date and gave us directions to the nearest bus stop.The room was of a good size, with a small table and two chairs.

"overnight stop"

have stayed here before. had to book at short notice,...no problem....handy to motor way. reception was v good. room excellent. staf very polite & helpful. would definately stay again & would highly recommend

"Rugby weekend"

Good hotel,helpful staff, good breakfast.....location a bit off putting(in middle of M4 motorway service station) but using Cardiff East Park & Ride very hasslefree cheap access to Cardiff city centre..........Cardiff is definitely worth a city break/weekend....outstanding National Museum of Wales....brilliant art collection( Davies sisters 19th Century French paintings & sculpture)....Welsh National Opera at the Wales Millennium Centre....so not just great rugby union!!

"omg just awful"

On arrival there was no polite hello or anything and we were only given one room key we usually get 2 ? how odd i thought to not do that anymore. WE were shown to our "family" room which was meant ot be for 2 adults and a child under one. Well there was not heating on and the room was a whopping 10 degrees. That temperature is far below the guidelines for keeping a child in. It di not get to a safe temperature of 18 degrees until 9pm when LO had already been screaming as he was so cold we had to keep him in his snowsuit which is v restrictive. The room was filthy so dirty that we could not use the shower. We had to bath the baby in the sink for which he was too big and squeeze our cot in at the end of our bed as for some reason we were given a room with two double beds? Not at all useful! and not what we asked for tried to go back to reception but she spent over 20 mins talking to a man about her day.. i didn't bother waiting.So two days later and it's finally time to check out however, there is no receptionist only a work man covering saying he did't know where she was and he didn't know what to do. AT this point it was snowing heavily and we needed to make sure we could get the little one home safely so he took our key and told me he hoped it would be fine??Let's just say giving him the key was not fine and now I am complaining to accor but it wasn't his fault he was trying to help he was the only helpful person there.I wouldn't recommend staying there.

"Weekend in Cardiff"

I stayed at this hotel at short notice and was plesently suprised by the high quality it offered. The staff were attentive and always available. the room was very clean and the bed was firm but nice.The shower was great and the breakfast was very tasty. I would stay here again.

"Good Motel, no luxuary but does a good job!"

We stoped over with our young son and spent 2 nights to drop by brecon beacon.It is so handy to be by the motor way and it did not disturb us to sleep. You can use all motorway service facility which was handy (got waitrose!!) when you have kids with, but you have to know this is a mortorway service area hotel, not usual town IBIS which we missed tyo realise when we booked. Overall, it turned out quite good as the price we payed despite some worrying review but could be because it was bank holiday no usual customers?? Staff was so helpful, bad sleeping mark is because of the sofa bed which was almost broken and unconfortable, but it came free(no extra for kids!!) so may be we should not complain.... So if you need only crean safe place to sleep for car travel, it does a good job with very little money...

"conveinient and value"

Adequate for a nights business stay and as a travelling base for south wales but not much else unless you are into service area's. Stay here quite often and price seems to be different every time I book on line. Maybe worth negotiating the price you want. Local bar/carvery has good food at good value

"my stay at the IBISS HOTEL"

This was the second time i have stayed at the Ibiss Hotel, I would give it 3 stars, it's not bad but not fantastic, shower did not have any soap in it we had to ask for more towels and also toilet paper, which was done straight away to be fair......it was clean but i found the shower very slippy...over all it was ok. can't comment on the food as we didn't have any, breakfast was given as half price and payable at hotel but when we got there, they said we should have booked it online to get the offer, which hadn't been made clear...thought the breakfast was a little dear as the pub over the road was a lot cheaper....but would stay again...

"Poor staff ratio."

We have stayed here previously but this time we were disappoined.The reception is under staffed. Morning breakfast ,one member of staff attending to reception and all the breakfast chores. Evening reception duties and cooking snack meals----one staff member only. On our final night there, the over worked single member of staff was so overwhelmed with meal requests and other duties, she was unable to serve us in a reasonable time scale. The staff were excellent but customer care was inhibited by the hotel's poor staff ratio.

"Good Budget Hotel"

I was travelling to Cardiff on business and was only just going to spend one night in the room. For this purpose, the hotel was an excellent choice. The rooms were clean, the service was friendly and with a smile, the location (if you are traveling by car) was excellent. I normally have work in the Cardiff Gate Business Park, and this hotel was just right on this occassion...

Staff ok but a little serious. Rooms clean, Internet charges a complete rip-off as they charge enough for the rooms to cover this. They do not believe in having wast paper bins in the room so expect to leave all your rubbish on the floor. Unfortunately this is located on a business park so expect to travel to get some reasonably priced food or pay through the nose for the food on the park

"Great Location Service and Value"

I arranged to stay at Ibis Cardiff Gate at short notice to avoid having to leave home at 4.00am to be in time for a delivery. I stayed with my partner. We arrived after midnight and were greeted in a very friendly manner by the reception staff, who took care to ensure we had booked the correct type of room (a double rather than a twin.)We did not sample the food or room service menu offered by Ibis, but the bed was extremely comfortable and the shower was excellent. The room was a good size and with a good level of equipment including a hair dryer. We would have preferred a few more complimentary coffee sachets; that's the only niggle.

"Good"

It was a good stay, however the subtitles on television is limited as we could not have subtitles directly from digital television, we had to use the old system (teletext page 888). Breakfast is good and there are plenty of choice. Good value of money for a last minute booking.
