Mercure Hotel & Residenz Berlin Checkpoint Charlie: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Stay at checkpoint"

10th February 2013, whitepail, Москва, Россия

I've recently booked a 3-day package "Cities: from cool to cultured", that included breakfast, free wifi, late checkout and a present on arrival (it was a privelege room with sofa for 3 people).Regarding the room and the breakfast everything was quite good, but all other things in this package were dissapointing:1) wifi was not working properly in the room. To get the signal I had to go out of the room, to corridor or reception.2) free wifi is only for one device, so if you have both Ipad and notebook - you will have to pay.3) There is no such a thing as welcome drink or present, even if it is included to package.4) Stuff hadn't helped with wifi problems at all.

Mercure Hotel & Residenz Berlin Checkpoint Charlie: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Nice Hotel in a Great Location"

22nd January 2013, Greg N

We stayed 5 nights and can't really fault this hotel. Breakfast was great and the staff were friendly and helpful. I would recommend this hotel to anyone and stay there again next time we visit Berlin

Mercure Hotel & Residenz Berlin Checkpoint Charlie: 5.0 out of 5 stars "Wonderful hotel"

10th January 2013, AmericanabroadALM

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at the Mercure Hotel @ Checkpoint Charlie. The room was very spacious and clean. Every day we were able to enjoy amazing coffee in the room before heading out to explore Berlin. Checkpoint Charlie was easily a 5 to 10 minute walk. We enjoyed our time in Berlin so much that decided to extend our stay, the hotel was very accommodating and arranged for us to stay in the same room and gave us the same rate that we received when booking online. Breakfast was also wonderful with new choices daily. Chocolate crepes one day to fruit crepes the next. Service at the restaurant and the hotel were both wonderful. I would definitely recommend!

Mercure Hotel & Residenz Berlin Checkpoint Charlie: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Long weekend in berlin"

20th December 2012, sweetcat, Ireland

Stayed in this hotel for 3 nights. Loved the location, just around the corner from Checkpoint Charlie and about 3 blocks away from the pretty Gendarmenmarkt square and the Stadmitte underground (U2) station, just off a main shopping street. Room was comfortable with comfortable bed. The heating in the room can be individually controlled and the bathroom has underfloor heating making it nice and cozy in the mornings. Breakfast was good and included in my room rate. The staff was lovely and friendly - the ones that stuck in my mind was Daniel at reception who was always polite and cheerful and Ana from house keeping who always greeted me with a smile and greeting at the lift. Did not use /need wifi in room - used the computer and printer in the lobby to check in and print y boarding pass. There is a mini convenience store around the corner where I bought water etc. Really enjoyed my stay and would stay again if I ever go back to berlin. I

Mercure Hotel & Residenz Berlin Checkpoint Charlie: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Great location"

8th September 2012, StevensCreek, Cupertino, California, USA

Quick service when checking in and checking out. I used English and there was no language barrier. I arrived and departed by taxi but there are 2 U-Bahn Station's (Stadtmitte and Kochstraße) within a few blocks on Fredrichstraße.Hotel room had coffee maker and mini refrigerator. Bed was comfortable and TV had a wide range of languages available. WiFi is free in the lobby. Location is very convenient. I would recommend this hotel.

Mercure Hotel & Residenz Berlin Checkpoint Charlie: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Checkpoint Charlie Mercure"

4th September 2012, BigMiK_71, Kansas City, Missouri, USA

I stayed at the Mercure Hotel near Checkpoint Charlie for a business trip. It was a very convenient location in respect of the office. It was also near Checkpoint Charlie, Bradenburg Gate and other tourist locations. The room was very spacious with good amenities. As it was a business trip, I only used the breakfast buffet which was very good. They had a decent selection of regular breakfast foods mixed with some German meats in the deli section. I was able to use a prepaid deal that provided good value. Depending on the value, I would recommend the hotel as a nice place to stay with a good breakfast near tourist sites.

Mercure Hotel & Residenz Berlin Checkpoint Charlie: 5.0 out of 5 stars "One of the best hotel that I've ever tried"

27th August 2012, Paolopalmasmodena, Modena, Italy

Excellent position, excellent hotel, excellent value for price with modern, clean and comfortable Rooms. We'll enjoy again and we'll suggest it, because we felt at home as never before. Near to all means of transportations, such as 2 tube stations (Line 6 and Line 2) many buses and taxies in the premises.

Mercure Hotel & Residenz Berlin Checkpoint Charlie: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Very pleased"

20th August 2012, Telfordtravellers, Telford, United Kingdom

We had a good room at the top of the hotel - lots of space but the third bed was a sofa bed. Everything was clean and the staff were very helpful. Free wi-fi in the lobby only and breakfast was quite expensive. (We used a cafe round the corner which fed three of us for the price the hotel charged for one). Good location within easy walking distance of many sites. All in all we were very pleased with our stay there and would definitely stay there again.

Mercure Hotel & Residenz Berlin Checkpoint Charlie: 5.0 out of 5 stars "Great location, Premium Suite is ideal for families"

22nd July 2012, simmondsi, Redwood City, CA

We booked a "premium suite" knowing only that it would have bedding suitable for our family of four (2 adults, 2 teenagers) - the configuration turned out to be way superior to what we expected: Two separate bedrooms joined by a private hallway with a separate WC and bathroom (latter with both walk-in shower and bathtub) also leading off the hall. Each room had it's own TV, and the larger one included separate sitting area, a coffee maker (with supply of pads) and a balcony with a couple of chairs. Both rooms faced quiet courtyards internally (although the street is in any case quiet). For the 5 nights we were there this layout was excellent for us.Just about everything was spotlessly clean - small stain on one of the chairs was about the only issue. Bedding clean and comfy, although the mattresses were a bit soft (due for replacement?). Usual bathrobes, slippers and selection of toiletries, decent supply of fluffy towels. Yup - you can feel comfortable here.Breakfast area was smaller than expected, but this only became an issue on a Friday due to weekend traffic, and the "overflow" area was fine. You can also sit outside (covered), but the inclement weather meant this was a bit too cool. Food selection is very good, great coffee machine with lattes etc, freshly squeezed OJ. The staff refills things regularly, but the glasses for juice ran out frequently so they should allocate more space for them.Service was super - very friendly at the front desk, also at breakfast. Absolutely no complaints there. The lobby has plenty of tourist info, plus there is a PC with internet access and a printer free for guests. This can get busy though so bring an iPad, smartphone or laptop. Would be nice if the Mercure could set up 1-2 additional PCs (somewhere).Wifi in our room was a bit weak (we were at the end of a corridor) so disappointing for the teens. Free wifi also available for all guests in the lobby.Location is awesome - about 2 blocks from Checkpoint Charlie but still on a very quiet street. There are 2 U-Bahn stations within 2-3 blocks. Also a good range of restaurants on Friedrichstrasse (try Valmontone on the corner of Schuetzenstrasse just 1.5 blocks from the hotel).Parking is available underground for 16 EUR/night.We paid 189 EUR per night for the suite including breakfast for all four of us, and internet in the room. Good value and we would definitely return. If you find this review useful, I would appreciate your "helpful" vote!

Mercure Hotel & Residenz Berlin Checkpoint Charlie: 5.0 out of 5 stars "Excellent hotel"

5th June 2012

Great location, big and quite rooms, especially those facing the backyard, spotless clean, comfortable beds with firm mattresses, great service, excellent breakfast, coffee and tea machine in the room, TV...everything one needs for a comfortable stay.We will definitely stay at this hotel the next time we travel to Berlin.

Mercure Hotel & Residenz Berlin Checkpoint Charlie: 5.0 out of 5 stars "Excelent stay!!!"

14th April 2012, fgayer, Goiania

Excelent hotel, staff and services. The rooms are large, clean and noiseless. The breakfast is excelent! And the most important, is very well located, near the metro station, the checkpoint Charlie and there are many options of restaurants.

Mercure Hotel & Residenz Berlin Checkpoint Charlie: 5.0 out of 5 stars "Excellent rooms, service and location"

15th March 2012, Eindhoven, The Netherlands

I stayed at the Mercure Hotel & Residenz Berlin Checkpoint Charlie in March 2012. Excellent hotel with large, very clean and attractive rooms. The hotel is located in the heart of the Mitte district of Berlin with plenty of shops and restaurants close by, while still being in a quiet side street of the famous Friedrichstrasse. I would go back to the hotel without any hestitation any time. There is free wifi, but the connection was a bit slow in the room where I stayed. The very nice bathroom with heated floor made up for it though.

Mercure Hotel & Residenz Berlin Checkpoint Charlie: 5.0 out of 5 stars "Great city, great hotel"

19th January 2012, Dublin, Ireland

We stayed here on the 3rd weekend in January so the city was fairly quiet. The hotel was perfectly located, just off friedrichstrasse and around the corner from checkpoint charlie and the kochstrasse u-bahn station. The hotel room was very large and spotlessly with a desk and seating area, separate shower room and toilet which is unusual but both were perfect.Hotel staff were more than helpful and a pleasure to deal with.I would definitely recommend this hotel for any stay in berlin.
