"Cheap and Cheerful"

Reception is in next door Ibis. The receptionist doubled as bar tender and everything else. It took nearly 15 minutes to check in. No ensuite toilets. I would rather pay a little more for this facility. It's cheap and cheerful!

"Guess we were unfortunate during our stay"

First night (friday) night ok had a good night; but the second night, oh dear, a police raid along the corridoor 2.30 am, noisy, language was appalling, and someone was it appears to try our door to get in 05.00, it was locked anyway. A bit scary, not the hotel or staff' fault but when told the next morning they were very apologetic and offered breakfast. I must admit I was appalled at the way one of the guests spoke to the waiter, he ordered "pen" no please or thank you how rude! I thought the staff were accomodating and kind and friendly, as I said I think we were unlucky this time.

staff very poor on check in rooms very small and heater was broken room not cleaned very well. wouldnt stay at this hotel again. a do came in the hotel barking very loud in middle of night

"Horrible place to stay"

Most of the staff do not know how to speak good English. Rude & forced to checked out. I was told on the phone helpline that I could check-in & out at any time - but I was forced checked out. Very rude cleaner staffs forced me out. I wish I could refund my money back.

"More than expected"

For a cheap room it was exactly what I'd expected, the beds were amazing and I think memory foam, so I slept far better than I'd expected.The showers and toilets down the hall were basic, although the shower exceeded my expectations as it was rather a large cubicle and more powerful than I'd expected.Overall great value with a double bed and single bunk bed over the top, coat hangers, a sink and mirrors in the room along with a TV.

"Absolutely appauling"

There is no reception in the hotel - it is located in the Ibis next door, and as such there was huge amounts of noise from people coming back from town. It went on all night, people running up and down the corridors, shouting and banging on doors. I had to call security on 3 separate occassions to report the problem - the last being at 430am!!! Instead of security staying in the hotel, they simply left and the noise returned. The staff weren't bothered in the night or the next day. DO NOT STAY HERE unless you want a restless night, or you want to party all night!!!

"Not for Me :/"

Although this hotel was fantastic value (working out at £11 pp, I am personally not one for the shared toilets/shower. All toilets appeared to have urine on the floor, and when I tried to use the showers, one was broken, and in the second one the light went off when you shut the door! The room was pretty basic and clean however there was a very strong smell of smoke.Overall you get what you pay for, the hotel is quite close to the city centre and had a Mcdonalds right behind it :)

"Excellent customer orientated service"

"Formule 1 Birmingham"

Bad Points:1: Rooms smelt of smoke.2: First room offered had no working lights3: Second room offered had a broken window.4: Room not cleaned very well. ? when last deep cleaned. but as we went to make the top bunk bed, dead skin and other unmentionable's under the mattress.5: +++ noise from rooms around us.6: Reception in a different building, (Ibis Hotel, next door).7: Broken glass and cans found outside the hotel enterance, in the morning.8: Toilets used as a smoking area.Good points.Still trying to think of one.Would never use UK Formule 1 chain again. The French Formule 1 are far superior, cleaner and better maintained.

"Great place to bunk down"

Came up to Birmingham for a metal gig. Needed somewhere cheap and quiet to sleep off the hangover. Got what I wanted :o)Only gripe was that the place was a bit dirty - particularly in the showers and toilets. The bedding was clean though, so can't have everything at under £30 a night! Staff were helpful and friendly.

"Good Night's Sleep but Awful Smell!"

For such a cheap price I wasn't expecting much but this hotel was reasonably clean and I got a quiet night's sleep. The staff that checked me in were helpful and friendly and as a single female traveller I felt safe. The only thing I could fault was the smell in my room. I can only think that the poor housekeepers had had to clean up vomit or something equally disgusting prior to my arrival and the smell unfortunately lingered in the room. Working in hospitality I know how disgustingly rooms are often left and considering the handy location for a boozy night out I can tell that the room attendant probably did a sterling job prior to me checking in.

"to be honest"

to be honest it was a bit of a [--] hole. quite dirty, linen all over the entrance area. cost was cheap and standard was pretty [--]. if you are skint and just need somewhere to lay your head and you dont mind it being quite dirty then this is the place for you. What was also odd, was that the room stank of paint. the windows are nailed shut, presumably to prevent depressed guests from flinging themsleves onto the concrete from a great height. I myslef was somewhat tempted and thankfully my family were happy that the hotel had taken appropriate anti-suicide precautions. Please feel free to email me directly so I can verify the general distain I have for this innapropriately named 'hotel' is actualy my true account of the miserable experience I encountered. One wonders if anyone actualy gives a [--] any more. Cheap, cheerfull is easy, but cleanliness appears to be a bridge to far for cr apholes like this.
