ibis Amsterdam City Stopera: 3.0 out of 5 stars "A standard Ibis experience but with some caveats"

18th May 2012, Londonairbus, London

Overall a reasonable Ibis experience which is strongly branded and predictable. Rooms at the front of the hotel (like ours) overlook a busy road and you need to keep the double glazed windows closed to create a good sound barrier. However, the climatization controls do not air and cool the room adequately. Be prepared for a stuffy night. Staff friendly and helpful, rooms and public areas clean. The standard Ibis buffet breakfast costs 16 Euros which is very poor value for money and the highest Ibis rate we have ever come across.Prices for rooms in the hotel can fluctuate widely according to traffic on the Ibis website and demand through conferences etc. Our first night cost almost double the other three and was very expensive. We should have made the effort to change hotels.

ibis Amsterdam City Stopera: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Stay in Amsterdam"

9th May 2012, jhf2419, Doha, Qatar

The Hotel Ibis Stopera in Amsterdam is a good place to stay if you want a basic hotel room with no frills and free WiFi. It's a bit off the beaten path, but the tram runs close by so you can get where you want to go in a short time. And there's a metro station close at hand, too. There are some good restaurants nearby, as well as an Albert Heijn grocery store and a liquour store, so you can get breakfast, fresh fruit, snacks and whatever else on your way out for the day or on your way back to your room. The buffet breakfast is the standard Ibis fare, but certainly worth the amount you pay for it.It can be noisy if you have a room facing the street, so ask for one facing the other direction if you can.

ibis Amsterdam City Stopera: 5.0 out of 5 stars "Recommended"

7th May 2012, Bazza853, Bowen, Australia

Very nice hotel, and when we arrived the staff at reception were very helpfull. Not a long walk to the center of town or there is the number 9 tram or taxi. Market is just down the road. We had pasta at the hotel resturant on two nights and it was very good. Our room was a good size and clean and ther was not any noise from the road. Would recommend this hotel.

ibis Amsterdam City Stopera: 3.0 out of 5 stars "an OK Hotel"

7th May 2012, okinoki1, Houston, Texas, USA

Price was a little high for an outdated room with a fouls smell in the bathroom. I would like to see the rooms modernized and for it to be less costly.

ibis Amsterdam City Stopera: 3.0 out of 5 stars "Patient front desk staff"

16th April 2012, firefly_1900, london

I think the hotel is reasonable for the price that we paid as it is a bit off the city center. I was very impressed with the patience of the front desk staff, especially their recommendation to go to the dutch restaurant called Greetje!

ibis Amsterdam City Stopera: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Ibis Amsterdam"

13th March 2012, London, United Kingdom

We shall certainly stay here again. The hotel staff were great. Everybody spoke perfect English. The restaurant and bar were excellent, as was breakfast. There is so much to see in Amsterdam and this hotel is so central. We drove and used the excellent park and ride. Using the trams was easyso getting around was pleasant

ibis Amsterdam City Stopera: 3.0 out of 5 stars "Fine very cosy"

2nd October 2011, Perth

Hotel room was fine, the bathroom was a little squashy however you get what you pay for. A fridge would be a nice addition to the room for a late night drink . Hotel staff were friendly internet was reasonably priced.

ibis Amsterdam City Stopera: 5.0 out of 5 stars "The main advantage of the hotel- terrific staff!"

23rd September 2011, Moscow

The main advantage of the hotel- terrific staff! Very friendly and always willing to help (this applies to all employees).Sufficiently far away from the city center, about 15 minutes by foot, but for us it was not a problem.Size and filling the room, met all standards of Ibis hotels (modestly and neatly). Comfortable beds.Breakfast is excellent, there is hot foods, but pricey, 15 euro. Dinner at a restaurant in the hotel, also very good! Internet for free only for 1 hour or 4 euro per 24 hours. In general, the hotel is very nice. Be sure, we stay there again! Thanks to all the hotel staff for our wonderful stay at your hotel!

ibis Amsterdam City Stopera: 5.0 out of 5 stars "good modern type hotel"

9th August 2011, sydney

After reading other reviews with other hotels in Amsterdam complaining of poor service I was pleasantly surprised at the level of service. Check in was fast and courteous.(Male manager was friendly and helpful)Room was small but clean. Was on street side seventh level which was quiet due to good window glazing. The neighborhood is a transient semi busy street but only 5 minutes walk to a huge supermarket where the trams run. Bus 59 on the street takes you to Central station. About 10 minutes walk to main canal areas/shopping.You cant go wrong with this hotel its a streamlined hotel modern, clean, efficient---highly recommend it
