Mercure Welcome Melbourne: 2.0 out of 5 stars "Great Location ONLY"

22nd May 2012, Brisbane, Australia

Great location, poor service; poor room standards. Bathroom very small and putting two single beds together made for uncomfortable night sleep. Guest laundry being repaired. Outside of location and an okay resturant, pretty poor.

Mercure Welcome Melbourne: 3.0 out of 5 stars "good value"

22nd May 2012, tropicalpenguin, Newcastle, Australia

Hotel is affordable and convenient location. Breakfast is resonable, but save money by buying up front or using a membership discount. Bathroom lighting was terrible - a downlight behind my head meant I couldn't see to shave or brush my teeth. Front desk staff swapped my friends rooms around, relocating a single guest into a double room, forcing the couple arriving later into a twin single room.

Mercure Welcome Melbourne: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Good hotel"

19th May 2012, sniktakks, Port Broughton, Australia

Stayed there 2 or 3 times a year and will continue to do so. The only reason I didn't rate it excellent because nothing is perfect.

Mercure Welcome Melbourne: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Melbourne Short Stay"

18th May 2012, GypsyRose324, Tweed Heads, Australia

Excellent location in CBD for using public transport, shopping, eating and art galleries. The breakfast/meal discount was useful, but was good for breakfast which had a variety of choice.

Mercure Welcome Melbourne: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Sleeping with the plumbing"

16th May 2012, Jentris, Rockhampton, Australia

The location of the hotel and friendly service were fabulous and we'd love to stay there again. However, the constant rattling of the plumbing (pipes) with the unsettling sound of water running through them was a challenge. In the depths of night it sounded as if the water would flood the room at anytime .....most disconcerting.

Mercure Welcome Melbourne: 3.0 out of 5 stars "Problems happend, but solved well"

15th May 2012, MEL296, Melbourne, Australia

First room I stayed had lots of dust, and I phoned up the front desk and moved to the other room. In the second room I stayed, I could hear construction noise and it was disturbing my sleep. So I phoned up the front desk and changed the room again.Problems happned, however, everytime I claimed a problem, the hotel staffs took action immediately, and the duty manager came over to the room to see actual situation and apologize. The attitude of the duty manager was amazing, very polite and faithful. Although I had to change my room twice, I didnt feel angry at all thanks to their prompt and faithful service. I will definitely stay again.

Mercure Welcome Melbourne: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Small rooms but clean and comfortable"

11th May 2012, Liz_QLD, Brisbane, Australia

I stayed at this hotel with my husband for 3 nights, the rooms were small and a bit old fashioned, and the view out the window was of a concrete wall, however it was very clean and comfortable, with lovely hot showers, a great bed, good air con that wasn't noisy. We booked during a sale, so we were very happy with the value for money in comparison to other hotels available in the area at the time. Also a fantastic location close to everything in the CBD. Near lots of great shopping and good food, and Chinatown! Also the hotel staff were really friendly, professional and helpful!

Mercure Welcome Melbourne: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Great location"

9th May 2012, Smithton

Great location, very central, excellent reception staff, third time staying at that location, very clean. Would recommend to anyone. Beds are very firm, but that would be my only negative comment.

Mercure Welcome Melbourne: 5.0 out of 5 stars "accomodation"

9th May 2012, doghobart, Hobart, Australia

We were given room 1130 which was a quiet corner room. We have stayed with you 3 times and this room was the best by far. Hopefully if we come again we are given a room like this again. Top marks. The staff that we dealt with were cheerful and very helpful. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Mercure Welcome Melbourne: 3.0 out of 5 stars "Hotel Review"

8th May 2012, ian_ward, Hobart, Australia

Have been stay at this hotel over a number of years and have notice a general decline in the standard of maintenance ie GPOs loose in the wall, the use of power boards instead of GPOs. On the up side the I always find the staff helpfull and friendly

Mercure Welcome Melbourne: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Well Done!!"

7th May 2012, Dolly417, Hobart, Australia

Would have no hesitation at returning to this hotel, everyone very helpful - made a difficult day much easier when trying to get to medical appointments and the elements were against us!!!. Of note the taxi driver who took us to the airport actively encouraged us to NOT return to this hotel as the altered tram works and cab stands made it difficult for taxi drivers, recommended several others instead. This, I think, needs to be noted!!!

Mercure Welcome Melbourne: 2.0 out of 5 stars "Great location"

4th May 2012, AlexBNE, Brisbane, Australia

The only good thing about this hotel was the location. Whilst the rooms were fairly clean they are in desperate need of an update. The water pipes make a lot of noise so you know when your neighbours are having a shower. There was also lots of noise from the major construction site just outside which doesn't look like it will be over from quite some time. Would not stay here again given a choice.

Mercure Welcome Melbourne: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Great for weekend stay"

4th May 2012, Ledgend2000, Adelaide, Australia

Only stayed one night but can't complain on anything , breakfast was adequate and room was comfortable will deffinately stay here again

Mercure Welcome Melbourne: 2.0 out of 5 stars "WELCOME HOTEL MERCURE MELBOURNE"

4th May 2012, 122Doris, Melbourne, Australia

I believe this hotel needs a refurbishment of their bathrooms. They are too small and showed crack tiles. The shower was in the bath with a shower curtain. This was not very nice. The bathroom needed a lot of work, no space at all and you felt like you were in the toilet when you stood at the basin. The room was acceptable and the bed was comfortable. The carpet in the hallway on the 3rd floor was disgusting and looked old and worn.

Mercure Welcome Melbourne: 4.0 out of 5 stars "We have stayed at this hotel many times"

1st May 2012, 78Tas789, Devonport, Australia

On 4 occasions the bed wasn't made, was just pilled up.I suggest a toilet brush in the bathroom as the toilet went for two days uncleaned.Regarding the bed it is a king size bed, but is 2 matresses joined together and you end up having a center hump. The staff at the front desk were helpful, in particular Jane Crawford in helping me with the Aclub problems that I was having.

Mercure Welcome Melbourne: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Mercure Welcome stay - April 2012"

27th April 2012, PerthPeter747, Perth

Welcome hotel is in a great location in the heart of Melbourne CBD so you can walk to most things within 10 minutes. Service was good and staff friendly and helpful. We stayed over two weekends. Room was small first weekend - but were upgraded to larger room for second weekend which was excellent. Really good value for hotel in central Melbourne.

Mercure Welcome Melbourne: 3.0 out of 5 stars "Great location, not so clean"

26th April 2012

Awesome location, right next to DJs and burke st mall. The room was old, dirty scuff marks, stained carpet and dust on light switches and behind the desk where the only poweropint was.

Mercure Welcome Melbourne: 4.0 out of 5 stars "autumn stay in Melbourne"

26th April 2012, Holiday978, Perth

Fantastic location in City of Melbourne. Able to walk everywhere or catch a tram. People very friendly and not pushing to try and make a sale. Room at Mecure hotel clean but average, but really you are only there to sleep and rest so value for money excellent. Would defintiely stay again and have stayed there previously because of the above mentioned.

Mercure Welcome Melbourne: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Privilege Room"

26th April 2012, MikeCSyd, Sydney, Australia

Budget hotel yes, but take a Privilege room and it is great value, very comfy king bed in a huge room with coffee machine, microwave and internet included. Has some quirks and is a older hotel but everything works including the air con (altho not the coffee machine and lifts sometimes - but they will sort any prob)

Mercure Welcome Melbourne: 5.0 out of 5 stars "hotel"

25th April 2012, frogspad_1, Perth, Australia

very happy with the hotel, the staff were lovely and very helpful.close to all amenities, love the location being so close to chinatown.

Mercure Welcome Melbourne: 5.0 out of 5 stars "A good offer"

25th April 2012, Bill2603, Canberra, Australia

We stayed here as the result of a special offer received by email. It was very cheap and thus excellent value. I don't know what it would be like at the so-called standard rack tariff. An excellent location if your activities are concentrated in the inner-city of Melbourne.

Mercure Welcome Melbourne: 4.0 out of 5 stars "my review"

24th April 2012, seato23, Albury, Australia

I really enjoyed our overnight stay. The service was good, especially the guys on the door looking after the cars.I had two shampoos instead of one and a conditioner, so thats the only fault!Thank you again

Mercure Welcome Melbourne: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Melbourne Stay"

24th April 2012, rl_stanford, Brisbane, Australia

Our stay was excellent, the staff were professional, pleasant and knowlegable.I have only two other comments: 1. More signage to lifts and various entrrances/exits on ground floor. 2. Cord on electric jug too short, with location of power points jug had to be operated on the carpeted floor. Thanks for a pleasant stay.Kindest regards,Robert + Annette Stanford.

Mercure Welcome Melbourne: 3.0 out of 5 stars "Good Stay for short term"

24th April 2012, Dee895, Griffith, Australia

Location was good. Rooms were fairly compact but had enough room. Only thing is that the bathroom water leaked. Rooms were noisy and in average condition. Staff were super friendly and helpful!
