The Menzies Sydney: 4.0 out of 5 stars "excellent staff"

The staff were very friendly, being in the bedding industry i am very aware of the quality of the sleep surfaces and pillows, i think the area needs attention.

The Menzies Sydney: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Sydney Adventure"

Hotel was ideally located for access by public transport or short walks to shopping & restaurants. Staff at hotel friendly, courteous & attentive.

The Menzies Sydney: 5.0 out of 5 stars "Home away from home"

16th May 2012, Chris133, Sydney, Australia

Totally loved the atmosphere of the staff and hotel, I didn't know it was so well located to Circular Quay and the best Westfield's in Sydney. Regretted it was only a one night stay - but it is on my list to revisit.

The Menzies Sydney: 5.0 out of 5 stars "great location"

evearaything we look for in an old hotel, classy foyer, wecoming staff who helped us make the most of the fabulous location. Their advice helped us enjoy our time in sydney, making the most of our time with the minimum of fuss and cost. Clean spacious rooms and a lovely pool, spa and sauna helped us relax after oour walks to the nearby sights.

The Menzies Sydney: 3.0 out of 5 stars "Menzies Hotel, Sydney, Australia"

15th May 2012, London, United Kingdom

I first visited the hotel in 1968, and nothing has changed much. The hotel is very close to Sydney's suburban rail system (no noise though), buses and only a short walk to Circular Quay and the ferry terminals, and the Sydney Opera House. Sydney's CBD shopping district is also nearby. Staff were very friendly, when available - having a long check-in queue and only one staff member did not impress me, and it took some time before other staff arrived to process incoming guests, however checking out was better. My room was clean, however the furniture/fittings were dated. Food and beverage prices were a bit high.

The Menzies Sydney: 3.0 out of 5 stars "Great service loaction good but needs a clean"

12th May 2012, chappy35357, Mooloolaba, Australia

Good service from all staff, check in was great (Andrea )and concearge (Andrew) is worth more money. More smiling needed by the odd staff member at breakfast but most were great. Bathrooms need a clean old is fine but their is no excuse for mould in the grout of bathrooms and the windows need a clean.

The Menzies Sydney: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Family Stay"

11th May 2012, Mamandedeux, Canberra, Australia

The Menzies suits our family well, with a spacious room that accommodates our needs and leaves room for play as well. The dining room and staff were also helpful with the children and a menu that suited them. For walking to central Sydney activities it is a great location. The station close by also provides easy access to further afield.

The Menzies Sydney: 4.0 out of 5 stars "location location"

11th May 2012, Icantlie, Brisbane, Australia

Straight across from Wynyard Station makes the Menzies the perfect spot for sightseeing Sydney; with easy access from the airport and short strolling distance to the Rocks, Circulay Quay or into the City. You will also enjoy a restful nights sleep on comfortable beds after a big day although watch out for Saturday night /Sunday morning noise in the early hours. That's the price you pay for being so close to a transport hub !

Excellent location , very central,on a very busy street.Nothing was too much trouble for the staff, very helpful.Hotel and rooms always clean.Because of it's location none of the rooms have much of a view. The beds in our room, seemed worn and used, could have been better.Very cheap TV'S in the room,( too small ,with poor picture and sound).Liked the stay 4 and pay 3 nights, good value for the location.

The Menzies Sydney: 5.0 out of 5 stars "great stay"

10th May 2012, Ian12_1960, Adelaide, Australia

Very well presented. Staff friendly. Easy to get to. On booking online, asked for chocolates and flowers to be in the room on arrival. This didn't happen but to be fair, they ha not charged me either. Was offered a bottle of wine as a gift. That didn't happen either. I heard the staff order the wine for us, so someone got a free bottle of wine!Honestly, all in all, a great stay. Positives far out weighed the negatives.

The Menzies Sydney: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Sydney break"

10th May 2012, shopordi, Canberra, Australia

We really enjoyed our stay here, central location with old world style. Only drawback is the parking but works well as long as you remember two things1. always unload your luggage when checking in, it is a bit of a juggling act to get it up from the car park, and2. never offer to go get the car and pick someone up out front! the car park exit is a long way from the hotel (secret tunnel stuff) and is a challenge to find your way back if like us you are from out of town.Otherwise reat place, we will be staying here agin.

The Menzies Sydney: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Nostalgia"

10th May 2012, honeysucklej, Sunshine Coast, Queensland

Thoroughly enjoyed our 2 nights in the Menzies. Great location, right on train & bus stations and easy walking distance to Circular Quay and Rocks with a free bus around the CBD for shopping trips! Great food and Friday night in the Piano Lounge was fantastic! Be prepared, as this is an older hotel and some parts are somewhat 'tired' although we were very happy with our room. It was a nostalgic trip for me as I used to visit the Menzies as a child with my mother and sister, before catching the bus home from Wynyard.

The Menzies Sydney: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Great location!"

9th May 2012, TravelGod82

My partner and I stayed at The Menzies for a weekend in April 2012. The best thing about the hotel is the location - right in the middle of the city, across the road from the train station and about 5 minutes walk to Circular Quay and The Rocks. The room itself was comfortable and clean. Biggest problem was the shower, which had a broken head and would not stay up on it's own - sprayed into the wall the whole time. Aside from that though, everything else was fine, staff were friendly and buffet breakfast was tasty.

1. Pool too cold to enjoy2. Charge for WiFi in room is getting boring as other hotels elsewhere provide this FOC and could become convenience consideration re where to stay. Free wifi is available at lobby for 1/2 hour but not always peaceful there. 3. Sleep first night was great, second night was too noisy through door (locked) that allowed rooms to be shared if adjoining friends/family. In my case though I could hear conversations and other activities more than I should have. Perhaps a foam sound barrier could be placed between doors when not in use and removed when adjoining rooms shared?4. meals and service in both restarurants I used were excellent

The Menzies Sydney: 5.0 out of 5 stars "Night at the Menzies"

Great service, evening meal was fantastic and we had time to get to the theatre. Jan in the resturant was very charming and efficient. Check out was easy and the car parking facilities explanation was perfect. Thank you

Excellent location for access to MCA, Opera House and Museum of Sydney and easy, convenient access to City and country trains. Good coffee at breakfast and excellent service.

The Menzies Sydney: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Locatio, location."

4th May 2012, urklck, Perth, Australia

Not much to fault in this hotel, other than the cleaners perhaps cutting corners in replacing things in the room. Rooms are adequate, beds are extremely comfortable. Location, location, location, right opposite the train station, fantastic spot. Lovely restaurant, but a very limited menu. Very helpful concierge. Beautiful old building. Will definitely stay here again.

The Menzies Sydney: 3.0 out of 5 stars "Menizes hotel - Sydney, don't expect too much"

4th May 2012, Chicagocitynight, Hong Kong, China

Just disappoint for the room too small, the room too old style. And bath room doesn't like 3-4 stars hotel, it like 2 stars hotel. the good thing is their staff very nice, kind to everyone, helpful. The hotel location is quite good.

The Menzies Sydney: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Great Location,Excellent Service"

Return visitors to this hotel - had some initial problems with our room on arrival, contacted reception and staff went out of their way to sort everything out immediately.Excellent central location and very good value for money even though some rooms are a bit dated but still very clean and comfortable.

The Menzies Sydney: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Convenient, central location close to everything."

We weren't in our room for very long but never the less enjoyed our stay. Our training was in one of conference rooms so it was very convenient being in the same building.

Dissapomnted that the Menzies charged my Credit Card before I actually checked oyt and had the opportunity to pay cash for mini-bar items I did not want appearing on my corporate credit card statement. Also, room was not serviced one day

The Menzies Sydney: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Very happy"

29th April 2012, Traveller1966_09, Wollongong, Australia

I used ny complimentary night and was very happy. The front desk up graded the room so that we had two double beds and gave us late check out. Great location for anyone travelling by public transport to Sydney

The Menzies Sydney: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Menzies overnight stay"

26th April 2012, Elaine723, Sydney, Australia

Very pleasant, comfortable and convenient stay for an overnight in Sydney CBD. Hotel offered everything we needed and expected. Would not hesitate to stay again. Location was even better than we expected and for train travellers save time, effort and money. Service was minimal, but met our expectations.
