Very good location - close to most popular places, excellent service. Because of discount rate it was really good value for money
"Getting rather tired"

Expensive for what you get like all hotels I have tried in Lyon so far. The location is great but the rooms/bathrooms look tired. Sliding doors of the wardrobes did not work properly, bathroom was cold, air conditioning did not seem to work well (had to regulate the room temperature by opening and closing the window), lack of sockets for charging phones, laptop.

Location and ambiance in the hotel is very good. Very close to the city center and the Hotel provides a feel which is different from the standard ""Mercure" hotels. Upon checkin, we requested a room upgrade as part of the loyalty program and the staff immediately responsed that the hotel was fully booked and this was not available. This did not fit with the amount of people we met in the hotel and the general business in the hotel. The way they managed the request could be improved. The rooms were also in the traditional set-up and fit the character of the hotel, which was nice. The bathroom could use maintenance/refurbishment. I spotted a bug in the bathtub in the morning which suggests it wasn't all that clean and that there are cracks in walls/tiles through which they have access. Breakfast was really extensive and worth the additional charge with a lot of fresh produce and was a good experience. Breakfast staff was polite and kept their attention on the guests and availability of products.
"Past glory"

I stayed 1 night at the Hotel Carlton in Lyon. When you enter the lobby you feel that this was once a hotel with a classic atmosphere and well known in the previous century. The elevator is already an attraction on its own - doing its job since the hotel was built - but not anymore practical today, only charming. My room was very sober and it looked as the time stood still for many many years. Using a make-up table as office desk, with no electrical plugs nearby is not comfortable. The room has airco but didn't cool down the room at all. The bathroom, in 3 tones blue, needs to be updated and brought to todays standards.
"Charming hotel"

This is a chaming hotel in the centre of Lyon. The lift in itself is an experience and a member of staff ran up to the third floor to send it down to receoption to collect us and our cases. We cannnot comment on breakfast as we didn't take it but we peeped in the diing room which looked very pretty. The room we stayed in was large and very clean (standard). The staff were very helpful and spoke excellent English.
"Fantastic Location"

This hotel is in the perfect location for shopping, restaurants and only 10 mins walk over the river to the old town. The bedrooms could do with an overhaul with new furniture and new bathroom fittings etc but the place was kept clean and the service was very friendly. The breakfast buffet had plenty to choose from and the hotel has a bar to enjoy a drink in the evening. We stayed for 4 nights and it was the perfect place for seeing Lyon and the surrounding areas although parking is expensive in the public car parks in the centre of town so factor in about 25 euros per full day parking if you bring a car.
"Nice, old fashioned hotel right in the center"

This one has the benefits of a big chain, but feels like a grand old hotel, including some nice shabbiness around the edges Location is right where you would want it.
