ibis Zurich City West: 5.0 out of 5 stars "Great location"

5th February 2013, Lilian1709, Campinas, Brazil

The hotel is not in the middle of the old town but the location is only 15 minutes away by tram. It was closer to the newer part of the city and to its biggest building. Staff was very friendly and willing to help. The person that checked us in, Domingues, was great! The Swiss Bistro located in the restaurant had good trial swiss food. Would definetly recomend this hotel!

ibis Zurich City West: 3.0 out of 5 stars "Good value but lousy location"

1st February 2013, skeez, PJ

One of our friends who knew Zurich recommended us to stay at this hotel and we loyally booked our rooms without first consulting tripadvisor reviews-- not a bright move! We usually like staying at hotels which are centrally located with lots of stuff of interests within walking distance, and this hotel was far from it. In fact, this hotel was located in some grungy industrial hood speckled with not very talented graffiti (think converted warehouses and garages)! Fortunately, the Technopark tram station (Technopark really does says it all) was just around the corner, so it was convenient enough for us to jump onto a tram to get us into the city center and back! Which we did. Do get a 24Hour Zurich pass so you can use the tram as many times as you like, and trust me, you will make the most of it! That said, one of our traveling companions read somewhere that this hood was one of the up & coming hoods of Zurich. And sure enough, the proof of it can be heard from our hotel rooms as some of the city's clubs located in some of the many converted warehouses and garages in the vicinity stay open until dawn on weekend nights. Would we stay here again? No thanks. If we want to go clubbing in Zurich, we need not stay next to the clubs. We can always rent a stretched limo from a hotel that's more centrally located. Aside from the hotel's drab location, I must add that we did get a good rate for this hotel, so maybe the money we saved in the cheap rooms went to our countless tram rides and more wine. The staff we came in contact with at the front desk as well as the bar (our post-tram ride nightcaps) were all very nice and informative. So, really, it's just the hotel's location that's shady, unless of course industrial (not in the cool way) and bad graffiti is your thing.

Management responseDear Skeez,We are happy to read your comment about our hotels friendly and informative staff and we want to thank you for your feedback about the location. Indeed our hotel has been built in the former industrial area of the city which meanwhile became the trendy and flashy part of Zurich. As the sourrounding is still evolving and building up its own character, the inner city of Zurich is only a short tramride away. Therefore our guests benefit perfectly from both impressions of the city. Enjoy your further journeys and best regards from Zurich.Leandro Renggli

ibis Zurich City West: 4.0 out of 5 stars "week end"

13th December 2012, micheleMilan_Italy, Milan, Italy

Pleasant hotel to spend a weekend in Zurich. Good balance between the services offered and the price. Rooms have traditional Ibis style, not particularly original but functional and clean. The hotel staff is friendly and helpful for any needs.Good variety of breakfast buffet. Covered pay parking available at the hotel - price in the Swiss average. Near the hotel there are many restaurants and bars. The center is just a 20 minute walk or by tram No.4, tram stop is close to the hotel.

ibis Zurich City West: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Cheap and Cheerful in Zurich"

20th September 2012, GregInSingapore, Singapore

The Ibis is located a little way out of the Old City, but the Tram network compensates for this. Catch the No 4 from Technopark or Schiffbau (both a two minute walk from the hotel) and you're at Rathaus in under ten minutes. It very handy to the airport transfer train, at either Central or Hardbruke, too.The rooms are small, but comfortable. In a city like Zurich, you'll be missing out if you're spending too much time in the room, anyway. The small restaurant does a good breakfast spread, and you can get a snack any time of the day or night. The staff are friendly and welcoming.I'd recommend this hotel for an easy, convenient, affordable stay in Zurich.

ibis Zurich City West: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Good hotel , have some comments"

17th September 2012

I stayed in IBIS Zurich for 5 nights, it is nice hotel but I have comments about cleaness, no bed sheet changes for the whole stay! the breakfast is very boring and poor, everyday same few kind of foods, to eat the same food for 5 days is difficult even last day I didnt eat breakfast, one more comment they should put more towels in the bathroom, nice staff helpful.

ibis Zurich City West: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Suggestion for breakfast"

2nd July 2012, Helsinki, Finland

As many people, like as well, have celiac deasease and can not eat the normal bread, it would be great, if Accor hotels would note those clients as well with at least one type of glutenfree break. A small thing, but brings a lot good for all

ibis Zurich City West: 3.0 out of 5 stars "clean nice hotel 15 minutes from Zurich HB"

20th June 2012, thecherry9, Bangkok, Thailand

nice, clean budget hotel room. The price and location is good for Zurich which is a very expensive city. Hotel should provide more amenities, electric water boiler in room, small towels. The hotel is next to Etap and Novotel. If you take the bus from Zurich HB, take tram number 4 and get off the tram at 'Techno Park' stop. The tram stop is only 2 minutes walk from the hotel

ibis Zurich City West: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Good Value OK location"

17th June 2012, hmarti, Toronto, Ontario, Canada

The hotel itself was fantastic. It was very clean and the rooms were nice. They provided free wifi and computers in the front. The location was a little out of the city but there was a tram stop right outside the hotel. overall good experience.

ibis Zurich City West: 4.0 out of 5 stars "easily accessible."

18th May 2012, Gopinath L, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India

good property to choose for a comfortable and budget stay in Zurich, well connected on the tram route 4 from the main station.

ibis Zurich City West: 2.0 out of 5 stars "Very bad staff"

16th May 2012, Surya C

I checked into the Hotel on 12 May 2012, at 3 pm for 1 night only.First Issue: at the time of booking I clearly mentioned 2 Adults + 1 Kid, however, they did not provide any extra bed arrangements for my kid and put me in a small room.Second Issue: next morning when I was checking out and clearing my payment, I noticed that that they have charged me for 2 days breakfast. I immediately informed that the Hotel guy, but he was very arrogant and not allowing me to speak. He was keep on insisting that I took breakfast for 2 days. After a long argument he realized his mistake and removed the 1 day extra charge which was wrongly put to my account. But he never apologized.

ibis Zurich City West: 4.0 out of 5 stars "2 adults with baby for 2 nights"

31st March 2012, Sion, Switzerland

Nice hotel, we stayed 2 nights there with a little baby and at our arrival they offer us a bigger room than the booked one.Location is a bit far from the center but the walk is pleasant.Excellent parking under the hotel and not that expensive compared to the location.Breakfast was nice but a bit boring after 2nd time.Only bad point, they didn't clean our room after the first night.

ibis Zurich City West: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Not bad by Swiss standard"

20th February 2012, RockyMM, Belgrade

Well, this is an Ibis hotel. Kind of what I expected, with few disappointments.Well, let's get those disappointments out my system first.Well with two persons (my colleague and I) in the room I expected to have four towels in the bathroom (each person should get one for face and one for the body), but there were only two towels and a one small one which we used for the feet.Wireless was okayish in the hotel, but on my laptop the reception never was better than 3 bars (out of five), in the room as well in the lobby, which caused me trouble with 3CX application, but it could be anything causing the trouble with 3CX I guess, so I won't take this as a drawback. Skype and web surf all worked perfectly.I kind of expected breakfast as in the Ibis hotel in Wien I've stayed few moths ago, which had scrambled eggs and sausages and bacon on the menu, but instead we got an extended selection of jams, chocolate creams, various types of coffees and hot drinks and sweets. Which is nice. But... not what I expected.I was greatly surprised to see that Swiss power outlets are not the same as in the rest of the continental Europe, so I had to ask for a outlet converter at the reception. Which is not an issue with the hotel, but... worth noting.Other than these points above, the stuff was always smiled and helpful and generally pleasant to deal with. The rooms are clean, towels changed daily. Zürich itself is not that big of a city so the location is not that bad. It's not dead center of the city, but the public transportation is excellent and even going by foot is not that difficult, with Bahnhof being about 40 minutes walk away.Switzerland these days is VERY expensive, so I would say that putting that in the perspective it was good bang for the buck. I would stay here again if I'm in Zürich and not looking for something luxurious.

1. Lowest public prices observed over the following seven days
