ibis Cardiff: 3.0 out of 5 stars "Good in the past, going downhill slightly."

28th February 2013, mpstevens_uk, London, United Kingdom

Have stayed at this hotel a number of times over the years.I normally like the place, but had a slightly less pleasant experience this time. The first room I was given had a mystery disgusting smell that was so bad I complained. On the plus side I was moved to a less smelly room quickly.I had a disabled room, which was a slightly odd experience (I'm not disabled) but this didn't really cause any problems.Things seem to be starting to getting a little bit cracked or stained in various places - it needs a bit more maintenance!I do always like the breakfast. The location is great for access to central Cardiff.Personally I really prefer the rooms on the side facing the train line, but this probably depends how much you like looking at trains!

Management responseDear 'Mpstevens_uk', many thanks for your comments about your recent stay with us. I am happy that you enjoyed our breakfast but at the same time I was sad to hear about the maintenance issues you faced during your stay. I will look into this matter in person together with my maintenance team. I hope to see you back in the near future. Kind Regards, Jacek

ibis Cardiff: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Excellent budget hotel"

18th February 2013, Rhoces, Haverfordwest

If you want a base in central Cardiff then this is excellent. The room is basic but modern and comfortable. The staff were extremely helpful and couldn't do enough for me. I was impressed that I could leave my case there for a couple of hours after checking out. If you're used to something more luxurious then this place isn't for you but I paid £48 including breakfast and I was within a short walking distance of the city centre.I'll definitely stay there again.

ibis Cardiff: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Excellent value for money (when booked in advance)"

8th January 2013, Brecon, United Kingdom

I booked this hotel nearly 3 months in advance for a birthday party in Cardiff City centre i got the room for only £29. Location is ideal for all the city centre activitys. Excellent value for money the rooms were clean, excellent shower facilitys and one of the most comfortable beds i've ever had in a hotel. The only fault i could see is the car parking is a little walk away so better to drop your bags first but car parking was only £5 for 24hr period so cant grumble for a city centre.

ibis Cardiff: 5.0 out of 5 stars "good nights sleep"

18th December 2012, hattie37, Cardiff, United Kingdom

very well situated, short walk to all shopping areas, cinema, trains city centre, all areas were very clean reception very prompt to provide extra pillow. Shower great not over a bath but large corner one with well fitting doors. Although we had views onto the railway line no trains were heard, curtains kept out light - good nights sleep. We did not have breakfast so am unable to judge but breakfast available till 10 am on a weekday. Experience more than met our needs would not hesitate to recommend or stay again

ibis Cardiff: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Cardiff Xmas Shopping"

10th December 2012, Debbie19622591, Plymouth, United Kingdom

The hotel is ideally located for a shopping trip to Cardiff and Cardiff Queen Street Station. Rooms are clean, functional and adequate for a short break. The bed was very comfortable. Buffet breakfast until 1000 with a choice of hot and cold food. The cold choice is plentiful with yoghurts, fruit, cold meats, cheeses, cereals, fruit juices and bread. Left luggage available which is usual on the day of departure.

ibis Cardiff: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Great value inner city location"

9th December 2012, simsh47, Canberra, Australia

Ibis Cardiff Churchill Way is a very pleasant modern hotel ideally situated close to Cardiff's main shopping centre. At first glance it may seem thst the railway that runs past the back of it will destroy any thoughts of a restful sleep - our cosy room overlloked it - but the terrific sound insulation of the windows took care of that worry. Hotel staff were very pleasant and helpful and breakfast was ideal for us with a good choice of continental style or English style available. We were pleasantly surprised and very impressed by this hotel. Parking is not available on-site, but undercover parking is within 200 yards in an NCP carpark at £5 for 24rs. Recommended.

ibis Cardiff: 5.0 out of 5 stars "weekend break"

15th November 2012, _Amelia_246, Somersert

Overall the stay was very pleasant. The staff seemed friendly and were happy to help in any way we needed. The room was nice and clean, and although the tv was difficult to use, we managed. The only problem with the room was the window, it had a blind that consisted of three sections that you pulled across, it was rubbish and clunky and let a lot of light into the room at night. the window also seemed to let in a lot of cold air when closed which meant needing the heater on constantly but that still only took the edge off a bit. I think better blinds or curtains would have helped to keep more of the cold air out. That and the fact had a room situated close to a very busy train track, something that of we had know we would have wanted a room on the other side of the hotel. The only other thing was our room was buy the door to the stairs, and every time we came back to our room there were plates and/or glasses on the floor by the door. i assume they were ready to be taken down but some were left there for quite a long time. it didn't seem very safe or hygienic to have them lying around. Overall we were pleased with our stay, and very happy with the price we paid for it.

12th November 2012, glenn f, west wales

Stayed at hotel to attend Motorpoint (the Killers, excellent live). Booked hotel due to location. Checkin staff very friendly, booked in no problems. Room was clean and tidy, some people have commented about train noise, we were on the side near the tracks and had no problem at all great night sleep. Did not eat at hotel plenty of places around in shopping centre.Car park £5.00 24hrs around corner a 5min slow walk, no trouble. Drank at hotel their prices are the same a local pubs not over priced. Great stay, will stay again soon.
