Mercure Hotel Offenburg am Messeplatz: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Black forest visit"

- good location and feasibility to put up for black forest exploration- heating/ventialtion in room toilets was somehow not functioning or adequate

Mercure Hotel Offenburg am Messeplatz: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Good Stop to visit cities in Germany"

6th January 2012, TJX05

The hotel was not difficult to find with a service gas station across the road. Another good point about this hotel is the secured open carpark. We were not charged for parking for the night we stayed there.Front desk staff were very friendly, spoke very good English and gave very clear direction for us to walk to town which is about 10 minutes away. Check in was efficient and trouble free. Rooms were very clean and bed very comfortable. We could see our car from our room windows. The downside was no free wifi in the hotel rooms but you could use the 2 computers at the hotel lobby if you need to get info over the Internet.Didn't use the indoor swimming pool and restaurants though. It was late afternoon when we arrived and we took a short walk to town and enjoyed the festivites at the Christmas markets and soaked in the atmosphere of the holiday seasons. Most shops were closed as we arrived on Sunday but we had a very good dinner in a German restarant further up from the centre early evening and the price was very reasonable. We used this hotel as a start for our visit to other cities further north where we eventually spent a night each in Frankfurt and Cologne. Offenburg seems to be a safe and quiet place with its own charm. Good hotel with friendly and professional staff who were ever keen and attentive to the needs of hotel guests.

Mercure Hotel Offenburg am Messeplatz: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Good expo hotel"

26th September 2011, BG-ZH, Zürich

Hotel is well situated, not far from Strasbourg, rooms are clean, big enough and in a confortable. Breakfeast is very good. Unfortunately the swimming pool was under renovation, so it was not possible to try it.

Mercure Hotel Offenburg am Messeplatz: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Family trip"

Comfortable hotel. Convenient for city, but not a picturesque location.Quite expensive. Air-conditioning was not working.Breakfast quite expensive, though of good quality.I really would like to write a short review!

Mercure Hotel Offenburg am Messeplatz: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Good all round choice"

14th August 2011, Philhelline, London, UK

This hotel is just outside the actual town of Offenburg - it takes about 15 minutes to walk into the old centre. Parking was secure, and free. The food in the restaurant was quite good, and reasonably good value. The starters were excellent. On the mains they had over-salted my partner's salmon, while my venison, although good, was a little dry. Overall, if you are stopping in Offenburg, it seems a good choice.

Mercure Hotel Offenburg am Messeplatz: 4.0 out of 5 stars "A Black Forest/Europa Park Basis - 4 Nights in Offenburg-Mercure Hotel"

5th August 2011

The position of the Hotel is just off the town but within walking range (20minutes relaxed walking to the historic old center of the town). There you can shop and eat/ drink - plenty of choices. Position of hotel is ideal also for those with cars since you can easily get into any highway. Right across the road there is a 24hours Petrol Station and nearby a "Lidl style" Supermarket. In front of the hotel secure parking space available though the normal price is rather high 10euro/night.(for this July there was an offer of about 40% down for Accor Members).Hotel was our basis for Black Forest Excursions, Europa Park (tickets availble at the reception at the same price of the Park), and the Strassburg city which is across the river,1/2 hour drive. The hotel offers good facilities including a swimming pool on the 5th floor which came handy after a tiring day (it closes at 8pm). Breakfast was very good with a great variety (only replenishment needs to be faster..) and all the employees very helpful. Our deal, with the breakfast and the minibar included in the price plus coffe or tea in the room along with the bathropes was an excellent deal. Rooms are relatively large and bathrooms (bathtab with pressure water) in good condition. I wish the had more English Speaking TV Channels (Apart from 1 all others in German!). Internet access free of charge in the 2 PCs at the lobby. Payable WiFi available ( it should be offered free of charge !!! at least for Accor Members) (in our case was included in the price/deal). Nice gesture also the "help your self" basket with apples on the Reception counter ! Overall very good choice for couples / singles / families.

Mercure Hotel Offenburg am Messeplatz: 4.0 out of 5 stars "Good option"

29th April 2011, piupolino, Switzerland

Good hotel option when considering visiting Strasbourg. It is close enough if you have a car with the bonus of a pool for the kids. On the down side the service at the restaurant is extremely slow. We were in 6 and had to wait for 1 hour to get our meals (after the order), the kids had to wait further 20 minutes for a dish of spaghetti. Soup came cold. Taking this bad dinner experience aside I would definitely recommend the hotel.
